WTF? The Jos lion they killed 2days ago was used for meat? (photo)

A LIB reader in Jos just sent me this photo. Says this is the lion that was killed in Jos on Tuesday Dec. 2nd after it escaped from its enclosure at the Jos wildlife park. He says they cut it for meat! Hope the Plateau state Tourism Corporation will deny this. Or they can use dead lion for meat?

  39. these are Nigerians we are talking about here. Linda why are you acting surprised?

    ReplyDelete
  40. Looking at the way the poor lion was smoothly and carefully skinned it looks more like they want to sell the skin to a highest bidder. Then the finished product will be a luxurious lion leather bag, shoe or even jacket.

    IT'S A SHAME!

  51. The Plateau state Tourism Corporation in Jos has confirmed that the lion that escaped from the Jos wild life park this morning has been killed. Deputy general Manager of the Plateau state tourism corporation, Timothy Nyam confirmed in an interview that the lion was killed at the wildlife park as it approached the elephant area.

  52. A lion has escaped from the Jos Wild Life Park on Wednesday, triggering fear and anxiety across the Plateau state capital, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.
According to John Doy, the Acting General Manager, Plateau Toursim Corporation, the lion escaped “at about 8 a.m. while it was being fed”.
Mr. Doy said the lion, which had been caged since 1972, “slipped through the gate of the cage when it was opened for its routine feeding”.
“The animal is still within the vicinity of the Park but our fear is that the Park is not fenced.
“We are struggling to recapture it, but we want members of the public to be vigilant,” he said.
The acting general manager said that he had already informed all security agencies to come to the Park’s assistance.
Naomi Cishak, Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), confirmed news of the escape, but said her office had not been officially informed.
“We have not been officially informed, but we are aware of the incident; that is why we have not deployed our personnel there,” she said.
When contacted, the Public Relations Officer, Plateau Police Command, Emmanuel Abuh, said: “We are somewhere, cannot talk to anyone”.

  65. Linda, you can only eat an animal when it is dead,it was killed, so it is not a problem

    ReplyDelete
  66. It may not be for meat. There's a museum in Jos...quite a good one at that. They may be preparing it to mount for display at the museum (Taxidermy). Coz they've done that to other animals.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Common sense is no longer common these days. The tourism board is removing the skin to be kept at the museum. Please go and see for yourself, different animal heads and skin are on display at Jos museum.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Can they use dead lion for meat?

  71. I am not quite sure the carcass of the lion will Serve as meat. People from that part of the country do not eat meat from dead animals. Although I am not on ground to verify the claim, it is most likely that this is a skinning process to keep the skin for future reference .

    ReplyDelete
