Photos: Jonathan mentors future leaders at Howard University

He's becoming a global icon. Former President Goodluck Jonathan rounded off his two week visit to the United states with a rousing speech to students of the Howard University School of Political Science, where he addressed the future leaders on the skills needed for responsible leadership.

President Jonathan along with US Congresswoman Karen Bass who is the ranking member on the Sub-committee on Africa, Global Health and Human Rights were the special guests at the university event entitled, ‘Elections and constitutions in Africa: A Timely issue.’ Jonathan encouraged the youths to embrace civil education stressing that such knowledge would help sustain democracies, and equip youths with the relevant tools that they need to become responsible citizens.

The former President’s speech touched on various aspects of leadership and Jonathan further expressed his pleasure for the opportunity to speak at the same Howard University that educated Nigeria’s first President, Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe.

He thanked the institution for the culture of instilling democratic culture in youths. He further described Africa as the “bright continent adding that stability and good governance are key factors
for peace and development on the continent.

  15. You see how this man is enjoying global respect and honour simply because he put the wish of the Nigerian populace over his personal ambition?
For that singular altruistic action, Mr Jonathan has written his name with a golden pen on the sand of time.

    1. You are a very stupid man for calling Jonathan a rogue and waster. Mind you Vox populist, Vox Dei. The voice of the people is the voice of God. You are not more than the millions around the world who have recognized him as an icon. Most especially. When your kindred does not even know you are existing. Big fool.

  37. Only a man with his level of integrity can do this, someone like Buhari cant be given the opportunity to address future leaders after leaving office because he has no leadership qualities. Buhari can only address ISIS,Boko Haram, Alshabab, Al Qadaer etc on how to be better terrorists, that's what Buhari is known for. Buhari enjoys spilling innocent blood as evident when he lost the 2011 presidential elections.

  55. Nigeria is obviously enjoying this relative peace cos GEJ allowed GOd to use him. He is our hero no matter what. The office of the president is a big one,and history has proven that the most successful heads of states had an unprecedented support and good wishes of its citizenry. Forget has a token for u at the end of the year,be constructive and true with issues especially as it affects home. Never been a Linda fan but thumbs up to her. She's a hero too especially to all the lost girls outhere. Cheers

    ReplyDelete
  56. The reason why Nigeria is still like this is because 1) we forget things easily & 2) we never see beyond our noses (among many other reasons). Do you guys think all these things are by his own making or reward from this government or its supporters for handing over government peacefully? GEJ clearly ran this country to the ground so he would never have gotten these opportunities if he hasn't cut some deal or so. Think about that!
