Following a tip off, NDLEA operatives arrested them in a hotel room and recovered a pistol, rounds of live ammunition, 13 grammes of dried weeds found to be cannabis and shirts with the inscription, Welcome To Taliban Zone, from them.
The Abia state commander, Dele Akingbade while speaking on their arrest, said further investigations into their activities in the state is ongoing.
Chairman/Chief Executive of the NDLEA, Ahmadu Giade commended the officers for the arrest and pledged to work assiduously towards promoting national security.
“This arrest further validates the fact that people take drugs for Dutch courage to perpetrate crimes. The Agency will continue to promote national security through intelligence-led operations. I also wish to commend the officers for the timely intervention and successful raid operation that nipped the illicit activities of the suspected cultists” Giade stated. The NDLEA boss called on security agencies to collaborate in the war against crime and urged parents to inculcate discipline in their children. Members of the public were also advised to report suspected cases to security agencies.

ReplyDeleteNDLEA smashes cult group......note the cult group and not drug syndicate, Nigeria is a funny country sha,why was the police not informed of this raid, the jurisdiction of the NDLEA ends with drugs alone,if there is a suspicion of other illegal activities they ought to have informed the other security agencies so as for the operation to have been a joint operation, what if the CULT group had over powered and killed some of the NDLEA officers? the attention hugging by different security arms in Nigeria should cease,it is not safe, this operation should have been in collaboration with the Nigerian police and even the DSS.

Nigeria security agencies are just like the supper, after struggling to score one they just go back to sleep leaving the opponent all chances to attack and operate deep inside.

ReplyDeleteTreat them like armed robbers and assasins. The cultists use arms and they cause destruction, so they should be handled with very severe punishment. Anyone that kills should be killed and anyone that maims should be jailed. It is not sufficient to just rusticate them or expel them from the institutions if there student. They should face the full brunt of the law. Linda, observe carefully

ReplyDeleteHmmmm... If only these guys can learn from the ones b4 them. Those who took cultism to extreme heights and are dead now or alive and living wasted lives. Violence never pays. This ain't the reason Prof Wole Soyinka brought this on board. Shameless beings. Now ya'll will have to cool ya asses in cell blocks. Smh.

ReplyDeleteIf they were caught, How come they are standing like a football team? Or this before they were arrested.
ReplyDeleteThe line.."people take drugs(weed) for dutch courage" is false please.Any other drug , maybe yes, but not ganja.. Splif is likened to any another thing on earth. We need to raise this issue of weed. Make NDLEA concentrate on better things. I'm a law abiding person and I expect we all should. But for IGBO matter..we need to address it. How can you claim to fight something that doesn't even know you are in battle with it. No bus stop in Nigeria is void of cannabis. No university campus is void of cannabis. No beach is void of cannabis. This thing has overtime come to stay. The truth is better ..No one reading this can deny that they don't know atleast one USER, who is not only very close to them, but also not controlled by it.
