Corruption must be kicked out of Nigeria - Obasanjo

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has called on all Nigerians to work towards kicking out corruption in the country. He made the call while speaking with journalist at his home in Abeokuta, Ogun state to mark Nigeria's 55th independence celebration yesterday October1st. According to him;
"Corruption must not have resting place within our society. We must kick corruption out because it destroys almost everything and I am not talking about corruption of money.
Corruption of attitude, nepotism, favouritism, they are corruption in different forms and all aspects of corruption must be kicked out of our society"he said He said at 55, Nigeria had not done badly as a country ".Fifty-five years in the life of a nation is comparatively young, growing and when you look at the life and history of those that you may call settled societies or reasonably mature countries, we are not doing too badly. They have had missteps just like we are having missteps; they have made mistakes and most of them have learnt from their mistakes” he said.

    2. Obasanjo disappointed even his own kids by the way he did things as the President.

    3. If OBJ did well as a President Baba Buhari wud hav seen no reason coming to contest bcus of his age.

    4. Obasanjo should please stop being hypocritical by giving impression he's an angel when everybody knows he exuded the cunning and hypocritical nature of the typical yoruba man he is.

    5. Baba Buhari should please stop listening to Obasanjo as he will do more harm than good. He should immediately begin the probe of hsi corrupt administration.

  49. Can't we learn from others mistakes OBJ? You were twice the HEAD of the country and still talking like this....must we make the mistake for us to learn. At 55 we ought to have been better than this and for me, I think is is getting too late. We all know that a fool at 40 seems to look foolish always...May God help us.

  50. If corruption must be kicked out of Nigeria that means Obasanjo must be kicked out of Nigeria. OBJ had all the resources, power and might to heal this country and change her history, but what he did was to import more corrupt and dubious acts and even wanted to be president forever.

  58. Nigeria would have surpassed them greatly even become the 5th most wealthiest nation in the world after US, JAPAN, GERMANY, CHINA. And we wasted resources that will have been used for growth and development by now, that will have surpassed most of the developed world.
    We lack the wisdom, knowledge, understanding and integrity to make Nigeria a great nation.
    Well chaa, hope is not lost, we can rethink, come together in love, stamped out tribalism regionalism religionlism, corruptions in our society to make this country the best among the best.
    Good pipe borne water to every household, good road network, electricity and power, houses for all, more export of Nigeria product than import and other basic amenities for development.
    WA MUST START NOW!

  60. The sense I see in the 'advice' is that we can truly shine the light in our little corners. BUT what happens at the national level when the so-called leaders, advisers, 'elder statesmen' are the ones frustrating anti-corruption in the real sense of it?

  61. Look who is talking!
    The old, irresponsible man that God gave a second chance to lead this great country yet he took Nigeria to a position much worse than how the military left it.
    Obj deserves no audience in Nigeria or anywhere in the world

  62. The problem with Nigerian youths & Nigerians,is largely ignorance. this same.man all of you come here to insult paid up all our external debts in billions of dollars & saved $65 billion in excess crude savings(which he handed over to Yar'Adua & your so -called "good man" GEJ).This same OBJ started all those wonderful roads you see in Abuja, paid up to 60% of it's cost, started the Abuja-lokoja highway & built the Abuja national stadium, though I had wished he'd built a subway rail system with that money. While he was president, contractors complained bitterly that 'baba' refused to release money cos he knew all they wanted was for him to release funds for them to start white elephant projects & indeed they ended up making him release for electrification just before he left govt & the rest is history. Before you judge any man or call anyone corrupt, pls.find out about that person. What you guys do is wrong! That's why so many innocent citizens got lynched & murdered in cold blood just cos' someone yelled 'thievf' & pointed at them.ALUU 4 an example.
