Parents of transgendered 9 year old claim discrimination, sues school

The parents claim officials in Komarek School District 94 in North Riverside discriminated against the third grader. The parents of a transgender boy file a petition against a west suburban school district, claiming their son was denied use of the boys' restroom.

The child was born female, but diagnosed with gender dysphoria and now identifies as a boy.

The petition states the student was told to use a restroom for adult faculty members

The parents contacted the school social worker in January 2015 about their child’s change in gender identity, and since then he has participated in all school activities as a male, according to the petition.

However, school administrators barred him from the boys’ restroom and instead arranged for him to use a bathroom designated for adult faculty and staff, causing him anxiety and depression “surrounding his lack of complete acceptance as a boy at the school,” the petition says.

“We work with every family to support the unique needs of our students,” a district spokesman said in a statement Friday. “In doing so, our paramount concern is maintaining a supportive and safe learning environment for all of our students.”

The parents filed a discrimination complaint with the Illinois Department of Human Rights, which certified their case last week as a civil rights violation, the petition says.

They are seeking an injunction that would allow the child to use the boys’ restroom for the upcoming school year, which starts Aug. 26.

  8. All this nonsense, I don't know why they project all these stupid ideals on children. Lost of girls who are Tom boys at that young age, doesn't mean they must now be labelled transgender. Do you they realise the school is protecting her from ridicule and bullying from the other boys if she is allowed to use the boys restrooms? If she's raped or something they will still be the first to sue the school for negligence. Rubbish!!

  13. Is he now a full boy? Has he changed his private part to male? If not, what will he be doing in the boys' restroom? The other boys will be very uncomfortable seeing a female in their restroom. The world doesn't just revolve round him.

  17. Allow him use the boy's restroom so that other kids will become fascinated by him and start mulling over the idea of becoming female, since anyone can change their sexual orientation? God punish devil. They should home-school their child

  18. People who have gender dysphoria feel strongly that they are not the gender they physically appear to be.

For example, a person who has a penis and all other physical traits of a male might feel instead that he is actually a female. That person would have an intense desire to have a female body and to be accepted by others as a female. Or, someone with the physical characteristics of a female would feel her true identity is male.

Feeling that your body does not reflect your true gender can cause severe distress, anxiety, and depression. "Dysphoria" is a feeling of dissatisfaction, anxiety, and restlessness. With gender dysphoria, the discomfort with your male or female body can be so intense that it can interfere with the way you function in normal life, for instance at school or work or during social activities.
Gender dysphoria used to be called “gender identity disorder.” But the mismatch between body and internal sense of gender is not a mental illness. Instead, what need to be addressed are the stress, anxiety, and depression that go along with it.
The condition has also been called “transsexualism.” But this term is outdated. Some consider it offensive. Now “transgender” is often used to describe someone who feels his or her body and gender do not match.

Gender nonconforming (GNC) is a broader term that can include people with gender dysphoria. But it can also describe people who feel that they are neither only male or only female. Informally, people who identify with both genders or with neither gender might call themselves "genderqueer."

Gender dysphoria is not homosexuality. Your internal sense of your gender is not the same as your sexual orientation.

When man takes God out of the Equation of Life he will continually be confused by the devil and his evil machinations.

  19. That's to your "wonderful" parents who have NEVER received Jesus Christ as personal Saviour of their souls...always boils down to "Ancestral Wickedness" ( hiding in the very dark background)...all transgenders are spiritually manipulated by one parent or the other and also rhosr highly skilled I such wicked works as well.

  20. I just feel if a person has gender dysphoria i believe prayer and counseling can help through the anxiety and discomfort rather than transgending.
and I also believe this gender Dysphoria thing is not homosexuality, coz I feel its just trying to be who you are feeling like in your mind, maybe we should look or figure a way to help such people rather than announce their transformation and crucifying them...
