MFM offers N91 mil to 180 First class graduates

Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries on Saturday offered financial rewards of N91 million to its members who earned first class grades from different universities across the country.
The General Overseer of MFM, Dr. Daniel Olukoya, made the announcement in Lagos at the monthly live broadcast programme of the church, tagged, “Power Must Change Hands,”.
He said 180 first class graduates in the 2014 academic year and two others who received NYSC Presidential honours after completing the National Youth Service Corps would get N500,000 each.
Olukoya said the first class honours award, which started with 12 students, had risen to 180 and explained that it was meant to encourage hard work among students.

He said the award was put in place to reward members of MFM who were dedicated to their academic work, while also creating time to serve the Almighty God.

Mrs. Shade Olukoya, a pastor, with Prof. Bamitale Omole Vice Chancellor, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, presented the award to the recipients.

Omole lauded the recipients for their dedication to their academic works and also serving God.
He commended the students for making themselves, families, and the church of God proud through their hard work.

Omole urged the recipients to appreciate the grace of God upon their lives and noted that many of their peers who started with them could not complete their courses for different reasons.
He called on other churches to emulate MFM by encouraging hardworking students through similar awards.
“The award is worthy of emulation, I urge other households of faith to follow MFM steps to encourage hard work,” he said.

Most times when we walk into big malls, boutiques, supermarkets, we never question their prices. We pay exactly what we see on the price tags and even hand out tips to the staff.
But the moment we are out of these shops and want to buy banana, our bargaining game gets off to the roof. Poor widow with 12 hungry children at home tells you banana is N100. She even takes out her time to explain how difficult it was for her to even buy it, how the economy is so tough.
But we insist that if it's not N50, we are not paying. Some of us even step back into our cars and make to drive away. But because 'half bread is better chin chin', this woman is forced to call you back and sell to you at little or no gain. In her heart, she cries, she's worried about how she'll survive with her children. She silently reassures herself that 'It's well.
God will definitely provide.'' While you happily chop the luscious banana. Take some seconds out and think about this, guys. Please don't bargain hard with small vendors like this. They do business not to buy designer bags, Gucci shoes but to LIVE and EAT!

languishing in poverty, yet money is splashed on
those who already find themselves in a socially
strategic position. This is the least Jesus and
the Apostle Paul would have done if they were
on Earth today. They encouraged assisting the
weak, and not those who are strong.-Acts
    20:35
Why publish it in the pages of the dailies?
Matthew 6:1-4 1 “Be careful not to practice
your righteousness in front of others to be
seen by them. If you do, you will have no
reward from your Father in heaven.
2 “So when you give to the needy, do not
announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites
do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be
honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have
    received their reward in full.
3 But when you give to the needy, do not let
your left hand know what your right hand is
doing,4 so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

    2. @Vicky Darl Please be informed that MFM never asked for it to be published in the newspapers. The newspapers carried the news on their own just as Linda also carried it on her own on this blog. Even if there are many people suffering in the world today, that doesnt mean that we should not reward excellence. Afterall, some NGOs also grant scholarship to first class students. The students that were rewarded were people that diligently served the church and also served God. That was the pastor's little way of saying thank you and also encouraging youths to read hard and come out with excellent grades. The bible says dont judge so that you will not be judged. I will advise you to mind the way you judge men of God so that the wrath of God dont come upon you

      Delete
    3. @Vicky Darl please dont say what you dont know. The church also takes care of the poor. They have ministries that take care of the poor. The have the Welfare Ministry, Prison ministry, Ministry to drug addiction, Ministry that preaches to prostitute etc and a whole lot more.

    5. You are just one hypocrite who doesn't even understand the scripture she studies. The essence of the award is to encourage youths to take dr academics seriously, while they conscientiously serve God. It's not some charity donation. How dn will others be inspired if it's not in the news? Besides, common sense should dictate to u that a man who gave so much just to inspire excellent youths would have also given immeasurably to the needy, but then u wouldn't know cos he doesn't need to make dt public. What however inspired me most about the award is more that majority of the recipients were stdts who finished from private universities founded by other churches. That, to me is a great man of God.

WHO TOLD YOU THAT ALL THOSE THAT MADE FIRST CLASS ARE FROM RICH HOMES? DO YOU KNOW HOW MANY CHURCH MEMBERS THE GO SPONSORS AND PAY THEIR SCHOOL FEES? THE CHURCH HAS A WELFARE DEPARTMENT THAT TAKES CARE OF THE LESS PRIVILLEGE. SO IF YOUR CHILD GRADUATES WITH A FIRST CLASS, ARE YOU SAYING YOU WILL NOT GIVE HIM A PRESENT TO ENCOURAGE HIM JUST BECAUSE THERE ARE LESS PRIVILLEGE AND POOR PEOPLE IN THE SOCIETY? HOW MANY LESS PRIVILLEGE CAN YOU AFFORD TO HELP EVEN IF YOU WANT TO HELP? DO THE BEST YOU CAN DO AND LEAVE THE REST TO GOD. SOME PEOPLE JUST REASON WITH THEIR ANUS AND NOT WITH THEIR BRAINS. SMTCHEW

Who told you that the GO does not take care of the poor. They dont only take care of the poor, they also take care of drug addicts, prisoners etc. So dont say what you dont know and stop judging people wrongly.

  40. The fact that we have a lot of poor people in the society today, does that mean that we should not reward excellence? The fact is, how many of those poor people can you possible help??

    ReplyDelete
  41. There are many first class graduates that still roam the streets without a job. So what is wrong with encouraging them with a token to start something instead of roaming the streets and using their intelligent brains to do 419 fraud?

    ReplyDelete
  42. For those criticising the reward for excellence, if we dont encourage our youths, they will end up using their first class intelligent brains to do 419 and commit attrocities in the society because some of them may not get good jobs immediately. They may even backslide from being a christian as a result of fraustration that they cant get a good job despite their first class degrees. I thank the Pastor of Mountain of Fire church for this excellent move. God will reward you sir.

    ReplyDelete
  43. We all know that getting a job in this country is all about connections. Some people might graduate with a 3rd class degree and get a fantastic job just because their parents are rich and well connected. But some first class graduates may not get jobs on time just because they dont have connections or anybody to help them. So i dont see anything wrong with the GO encouraging these youths so that they dont end up jobless after graduating with such high grades just because they dont have the connections to get a good job.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Most of those youths trekking up and down for politicians were graduates. If they had good jobs, do u think they will have the time to be trekking up and down for politicians? You people have seen someone that is encouraging the youths with some money to start off a small business and you are complaining. You can never please Nigerians. They will always complain. Nigerians grow up.

  45. When Nigeria won the world cup, the footballers received a lot of money and gifts from different organisations and filantropists. There were lots of poor people in the society but yet the Nigerian footballers were rewarded with huge money for hardwork. There is absolutely nothing wrong with rewarding hardwork and excellence. It only encourages you to do more and stay out of commiting crimes

  48. @inem jackson ignorance is a disease. I hope u are not reading your bible upside down? Tithe and offerings are not compulsory oh. It is not by force. If you want prosperity and you want God to rebuke the devourers for your sake, pay your tithe but if you dont want God to rebuke the devourers for your sake, dont pay. Also if you want to steal 10% from God, dont pay tithe. It is as simple as that. It is in the bible. I did not write it in the bible neither did pastors write it. Nobody has ever forced anybody to pay tithe. It is a free-will. Do u think all the money that they use to buy all the church buildings and money to maintain the churches fell from heaven or maybe pastors have a tree where they pluck money from? Of course it is the money that u and i give to the church that they use to maintain the church. Be wise and stop reasoning like someone that is spiritually dull.

    ReplyDelete
  49. @inem jackson do u think all d money used in buying church buildings and money for the maintainance of the church fell from heaven? Of course it is the money that u and i give to church that is used to maintain the church. So i dont understand why u are refering to the tithes of poor people here. Is it only poor people that attend the church? What about the tithe of the rich? Those poor people that you are talking about are becoming rich everyday because they pay their tithes if u listen to testimonies. There is a blessing attached to tithe in the bible. I did not write the bible neither did the pastors write the bible. I only obey the words of the bible and it works for me. Nobody forces anybody to pay tithe. It is a free-will. If u want to be blessed pay your tithe, if you dont want to be blessed, dont pay. It is as simple as that. So stop talking ignorantly here. I hope u are not reading your bible upside down??
