Isn't Harper Beckham too old to be using a pacifier at age 4?

David and Victoria Beckham's daughter Harper, who is 4, was seen out with her dad sucking on a pacifier and this has sparked major debate amongst parents and health experts who feel a child this age was too old to be using a dummy. Health experts say parents who allow their children to do this after a certain age risk stunting their kid's speech and put their teeth at risk of damage.

They say pacifiers are recommended only for small babies, usually to sooth or settle them whenever they are restless. But there are people who claim they used a dummy until they were 7 and nothing happened to their teeth or speech. What do you guys think?

    1. What parents allow their kids to do is their business, Linda u should worry about how to marry & have ur own kids rather than carry this mentally myopic story! U think Beckam is foolish & doesn't know what he's doing? Think again!

    2. And getting her off tht dummy is going to be another war.. It's not right.
She's probably being pampered as the only daughter and the last born and it won't help her mental growth.. I know because...

    3. I think they should have stopped it before she turned two. I've always thought pacifier looked so cute on babies. Couldn't get my little girl to hang onto it for even a minute even as a baby.

  8. I think it's inappropriate to be using pacifier at 4. It shows weak parenting.

  14. Linda! :-) u n I knw this sight is common once u step out of d shores of Nigeria:-) It has become a common sight at d mall, airport etc thats its difficult to tell d age of d child.

Anyway, as for affecting the teeth n speech, I'm not an expert. All I know is niger kids throws the pacifier out once they realise nothing coming out of it :-)!

  15. People should learn to mind their business ,you too Linda...u can't tell a parent how to train their children... Her parents know what's best for her so all other people should keep their opinions to themselves..

  16. Pacifiers are alternatives to stop kids from sucking their thumbs. Therefore experts have just no clues as to what a child wants. I used to drink my milk not from a cup but from a feeding bottle till I was 9yrs old. Now my teeth is with a great smile and i am intellectually excellent. Abeg they should leave kids alone. Would they prefer her to grow up like kylie jenner or hold a gun? Atleast this kid still wants to remain a kid. Let it be.

  34. I am a dentist and I can categorically say ds: once a child is beyond 4yrs old n he/she stills sucks either the finger or dummy there is going to be dental malalignment in her permanent dentition when he or she is starts erupting permanent teeth but if the habit stops bfore age 4, the aftermath is reversible. The anomaly is usually seen at the front teeth Solotobee@gmail.com
