Inmate gets arrested again after refusing to leave jail

An Arizona man arrested on alleged possession of meth apparently liked the jail in Maricopa County so much that he didn't want to leave.
David Spurlock, 29, was released on Wednesday for the drug charges, but caused trouble when he refused to vacate the premises.

Sheriff Joe Arpaio said that officers forcibly escorted Spurlock away from the lock-up.

Police said when Spurlock was finally out of the jail, he ran to a marked semi-truck belonging to the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office and unsuccessfully attempted to start it up, according to the Associated Press.
"Maybe he liked the food so much, he thought he would take a truck load of my vegetarian meals with him," Arpaio said.

Officials said Spurlock told them he planned to sell the truck.

Spurlock was arrested and is back in jail on a burglary charge and is being held without bond.

  11. He didn't have anywhere to go to so it was just easier for him to do what he did. He knew he would be back in Jail, where he will have a roof over his head and free food also. A guy once refused to leave where released. We had to practically escort him out, he got out quite well then walked to the main entrance and hurled rocks at the doors. Needless to say, he was arrested and booked for property destruction. A lot of these guys have no where to go to, no one to turn to. It's do sad watching them. Some act like robots as they have been institutionalized most of their lives. If you don't tell them the door is open, they just stand by the door like zombie. Na Wa!!

  22. He needs psychological evaluation and help before he murders someone; in this era of free access to guns because whenever he is released, he will always commit crimes in order to get back in jail. Maybe he should be trained and given a job in the facility.
