Buhari’s appointments unacceptable to Ndigbo – Ohaneze Youth Council says

The Ohaneze Youth Council, OYC have released a statement expressing their displeasure at the non inclusion of the Ibos in all the appointments made by President Buhari so far. Their statement signed by its president Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro below ..
"We stand to condemn this glaring hatred for Ndigbo by the administration of President Buhari. We recall that apart from several other appointments, Buhari’s government has also appointed Service Chiefs and in a similar manner, he sidelined the South-East zone.
As if that was not enough, the long-awaited position of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, has come at last and this government deemed nobody from the South-East qualified enough to occupy that position, which was earlier zoned to Ndigbo. We are indeed shocked by this turn of events, which are totally at variance with Mr. President’s earlier stand that he was for nobody but that he was for everybody. We are at a loss where this statement fits in, considering all the actions he has taken so far, which are all against the interest of Ndigbo. Where is the justice; where is the equity; where is the one Nigeria? How long shall Ndigbo be pushed to the walls? The Ohaneze Youth Council is saying it loud and clear that these appointments are unacceptable to us and we urge Mr. President to reverse them, otherwise it would appear that there is a grand-design to annihilate the Igbos out of the political and economic system in this country. The Second Niger Bridge is a project that touches on the economic life of the entire South-East and we find it curious that the Federal Government is not ready to attach any priority to it. “We use this medium to urge Mr. President to right these wrongs and move the country forward as one. Tribalism has never paid Nigeria and this period will not make any difference”.

    2. All these people talking like they have water in their brain and saying that Igbos didn't vote for Buhari so shouldn't expect any appointments or development, I have one question for you. Is Buhari the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria or is he the President of the Federal Republic of Buhari? As long as he presides over the country called Nigeria, he's the President of ALL NIGERIANS and his responsibilities and obligations are to ALL NIGERIANS including those who voted or didn't vote for him. So because Barack Obama lost in some US states during the last elections his government should stop developing and supporting those states? If Buhari decides to be the President of only those who voted for him, then he better start preparing a refferrandum that will allow the SE to quietly go and form their own country and vote in their own President.

  19. I guess the rantings & uproars won't stop anytime soon.Buhari is tryna avoid the mistake Jonathan did which led to his colossal defeat.Jonathan appointed people who he never knew, mostly square pegs in round holes, whom ain't even loyal.Look where that has taken him
In the game of politics, equity & fairness sometimes doesn't suffice.Loyalty & trust works better.
As the previous writer has said, there's enough food to go around. The appointments are still ongoing.its too quick to jump to conclusions. Inugwo?

  72. The NDIGBOs may not like Buhari's appointment - saying this is the highest naivity of our time. Do they think Nigerians are fools? Although I am a friend of the Ibos, I am one of those who strongly feel that they should be taught a bitter lesson. In 1978-79, they campaigned vehemently against Awolowo on sentimental grounds, which led to the emergence of the first prostrate President of Nigeria - Shehu Shagari. Now they tried to impose another prostrate President, Jonathan on us, but we were third time wiser. So, what do they think? - they didn't vote for a man, yet they want his appointment. They must be ignored until they learn that politics is not a sentimental game. I must also add that until they change their ways, they will NEVER smell the Presidency of this country!!!!

  84. Like we stated earlier, Sai Buhari received petitions from both right, left and center from Nigerians from the South West, South East and the South South. Sai Buhari indeed desired and fought hard for Fashola to be his Chief of Staff only for Tinubu and his cohorts to smear him while Amaechi too was having his terrible run. The north do have a lot more corrupt officials but with less petitions.
When GEJ was in the saddle, he virtually abdicated his recruitment Powers to Pius Anyim, who blatantly empowered the South East with strategic positions in his Government. OBJ's administration was fair because he did compensated the South East with prominent positions in Government that left some people thinking, He was the long lost Son of the Obi of Onitsha. To be sincere, the South East have had more than a fair share of the loot from this democracy given that they are adept at pandering to the wishes of any and every politician.

At times Anonymous, u don't rush into what u don't truly know about,it is fully justified in u.What happened in the year 1922 to 1960 waz at the result of how the colonial masters neglected Nigerians,we never want them to rule over us but they kept ruling and they cheated us in legislative and executive council,we fought for our rights bringing about the nationalist movement b4 we came about being free from them.A gud leader is not tribalistic but neutral,is a normal thing, a challenge to the president.Igbos has being agitating for this since 1967.Just be on their shoes, they are desperate to see their is equity and love, since is only Zik and Ironsi that came frm their side and nobody else since the hausas'has dominated the council.

  95. Who is OYC or Ohanaze to declare the president's appointments "acceptable or not acceptable"? Or even ordering the president to reverse his appointment. What is it ?! Is SE the only geo-political zone in Nigeria? They have have been antagonistic to Buhari before, during and after the election, yet they expect him to appoint them into positions that are key for the success of his administration.
Ndigbo need to understand that besides merit, competence and integrity, a leader who wants to succeed will appoint only those he/she is confident of their unalloyed loyalty, and who he/she is comfortable to work with to achieve success. So the Igbos should let Nigeria be. They are free to conduct referrandum and break out of Nigeria if they wish , which I even doubt as they're very divided amongst themselves. In case they're thinking in this direction, they should take a close look at South sudan...

  96. Appointment takes more than merit/competence. Loyalty is very very crucial. Leadership principle has it that any leader that wants to succeed importantly chooses by merit/competence, but does that without undermining LOYALTY. A
Leaders that would succeed choses competent people he's comfortable and confident of their loyalty, NOT drawing his team from a band of competent antagonists. IF HE MUST SUCCEED!
