45 year old man jailed 14 years for stealing N51million

A 45-year old man, Gbenga Lawal has been sentenced to 14 years in jail by an Oredo Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Benin City for stealing the sum of N51, 168,230, belonging to Lukas Corporate Business Nigeria Limited, his former employees. According to The Nation, Gbenga, who was a manager in the company stole from the company between 2008 and 2010.

The presiding Magistrate, Frank Idiake, found Gbenga guilty on count two and seven out of the seven count charge and acquitted him on five other charges bothering on stealing 3,484 cartons of medium stout beer valued at N11, 877, 807m.

He was sentenced to seven years imprisonment with hard labor each on count two and seven. The presiding judge ruled that the sentence was without option of fine and that the sentence is to run concurrently.

  18. Haba!! This is wickedness. just for stealing 51million? what of politicians stealing billions? this judge must be biased in this judgement. No option of fine, hard labour. 3 or 4yrs would have been okay even without hard labour sef.This judgement should be appealed and reviewed

  19. No politician has been convicted and jailed in a long while in this country. Those caught did "plea bargain" and were let off the hook. Other served 2yrs and thereafter went to church for thanksgiving! This country sef. We do the important things last and unimportant things first.
