The best make up artiste in America charge from 80 dollars to 600 box at the maximum...and they stay with you through the event. People like BM pro will not even do touch up of lipstick...and she charges minimum of 250k and up...at the end of the day her work is filled with Instagram filters!!! Yes! They do , some charge even more. I just had my wedding, payed 100k for my white wedding makeup and 60k for my trad makeup. A lot of times if the makeup artist is also coming in from far, their transport and accommodation is on you. I think the most annoying part is that most of them demand to be given flight tickets. I think the prices that make up artists charge is absolutely 1) exorbitant 2)unnecessary 3)EGREGIOUS ……….called BMPro last year to ask for their packages. I was told Banke Meshida herself charges N600k and up, while junior artists charge N300k and up. And I'm sure by now, these prices have increased. Let's not even add the fact I was asked to also pay transportation and accommodation for the artists, as the wedding is to take place in Abuja.
Because of this, I decided to focus on an Abuja-based artist: MAMZABEAUTY, who charged me N325k just for traditional wedding. I didn't blame her - she was still riding on the cloud of the INDIMI wedding, forgetting that not everyone is a INDIMI.

ReplyDeleteLinda, for someone who has made a ridiculous amount of money from "just blogging" and someone who spends even more ridiculous amounts of cash on bags and designer clothes, you should not be one to talk. The only reason you're shocked is because you don't dig make-up. I'm more shocked on how much you spend on bags than these make-up fees. Welcome to the new Nigeria where you can become rich in these new fields. I applaud any business that will charge that much and actually have paying customers. These customers are not stupid because they can as easily get the same service for 25k. But if they want perceived quality and can pay, why the hell not?! Menial jobs like photography, hair styling, cloth-makng are fetching people serious money these days. We live in a country where the government is useless and unemployment rate is so high. Seeing young Nigerians getting more entrepreneurial by the day gives me soooo much joy! If it means charging one million and employing others, I'm all for it! And by the way Linda, with all the money you make, how many people are on your payroll? An editor is certainly not one of them with all your grammatical blunders. P.s: I'm not a make-up artist nor any sort of "creative entrepreneur". I'm just a young Nigerian female excited by "emerging markets" and oh Linda, also your biggest fan.

ReplyDeleteYes! They do , some charge even more. I just had my wedding, payed 100k for my white wedding makeup and 60k for my trad makeup. A lot of times if the makeup artist is also coming in from far, their transport and accommodation is on you. I think the most annoying part is that most of them demand to be given flight tickets. Totally wrong to decide means of transport for their client.

Very True..called in Bmpro to make enquires for a friend's wedding..A lady said 250k for a staff excluding return ticket and hotel accommodation..like seriously?? How much will madam Banke now charge?? Its just ridiculous..but well they are not forcing anybody..

ReplyDeleteI think the prices that make up artists charge is absolutely 1) exorbitant 2)unnecessary 3)EGREGIOUS ……….called BMPro last year to ask for their packages. I was told Banke Meshida herself charges N600k and up, while junior artists charge N300k and up. And I'm sure by now, these prices have increased. Let's not even add the fact I was asked to also pay transportation and accommodation for the artists, as the wedding is to take place in Abuja.
ReplyDeleteBecause of this, I decided to focus on an Abuja-based artist: MAMZABEAUTY, who charged me N325k just for traditional wedding. I didn't blame her - she was still riding on the cloud of the INDIMI wedding, forgetting that not everyone is a INDIMI.
