Pics: The jaw-dropping moment surfer is attacked by a shark during competition

The jaw-dropping moment a world champion surfer was attacked by a shark during a competition - was captured by spectators. Australian surfing legend Mick Fanning fought off the shark by punching it in the back.

The three-time world champion, was knocked from his board by the shark just moments into the final round of the J-Bay Open in South Africa. The shark's fin emerged from the water before the shark lunged at Fanning. Fanning survived by fighting back. See the dramatic photos after the cut...
