About a week ago, I showed you guys the terrible condition of Adetola street in Aguda, Surulere (see here)...well, things have changed since then. The construction company assigned to do the road are now working on it. Thank goodness! See more photos after the cut..

    1. This thing won't last though. Placing interlocking stones on sand. In countries like the UK, Italy and France you walk on interlocking stones DTS been there for DECADES bcos its placed on cement. You can even see how shiny & worn d stone has gotten.

Its more expensive but d cheaper route always provides more opportunity for future expense and fraud cos it will spoil again. Same 4 our roads always placed over a layer of loose sandy or muddy materials. They can't last long.

  16. Good job,but please also acknowledge that this is indeed a working government.Lagos has always worked and others are emulating.

In pdp times,it won't have made a difference if you posted it.they won't do anything about it.

I also think your intention was to embarrass this government Linda.but God will remain awesome.what you meant for ridicule, the Lord has turned to good.

  38. Linda they have working on this Adetola road in Surulere since 2013. They started from Coker axis and stopped before Savannah B/stop.

So there is no need praising them for what they were assigned to do. People that stay towards Co Oil are bearing the brunt now, hoping for when the company will get to their side.

  39. Please help us tell them to finish the work they started on brown road in Aguda also. The same company

  48. Wow, the power of social media. Linda please show more of these bad infrastructures we have in our country and put the people responsible to shame. This is really yielding positive results. Contracts to fix some of these roads have been awarded but the evil creatures behind it have squandered the money and have refused to execute it. I believe that social media is the only voice of the voiceless to expose all the evils that have been and are still going on in our country today. I can't thank God enough for the Internet. There will be no more hiding place for the wicked.

  51. I commend linda for shedding light on the issue of bad roads, it seems to have spurred the constructions companies into action. On the flip side, must it take linda ikeji to post a story before they act?

  60. If only our deaf and dumb governor in Imo, govr Rochas Okorocha would also listen to the yarnings of the masses in the states concerning the poor state of some important and commercial routes in the state, we would have been singing a praise song to his name by now but he wouldn't cause he has gotten what he wanted (2nd term bid) that prompted his mere visible works in his 1st term in office. Routes like the Douglas-ama Jk route, naze-nekede-ihiagwa to FUTO route....and so many more to mention. Linda please help report on the poor state of these roads in imo, I know you did it some days back but the Governor needs to be made known about his early poor performance in his 2nd term.

  61. This is a big fat lie, I live in Surulere but I hardly visit my friends in Aguda, Okota and Agoo b4 u go and come back your clothes will fill dust couple with the terrible traffic...This construction has been going on during last campaign just to get votes from them but I guess they have abodoned it. Go and see for urself @ ur ownoconvenient, don't just upload any picture that was sent to u.

    ReplyDelete
  62. No o. that construction has been on going for over 6 months now and when the rains came they abandoned the roads like that. They aren't doing anything o. I stay on Adetola and it is a total mess still. If this platform really does help like you say, please get them to revisit the area and finish what they started. This mess starts all the way from Alhaji yinusa street all the way to Nnobi and further down to Adetola. But Adetola is worse so they can just focus on it. Bolaji Banwo is a mess and Onikoyi. Aiyetoro is bad as well and Brown street and Soloki, All these streets link to Adetola and it is the alternative route people plight just to avoid the bad road.

  63. Linda I now confer you with the title of 'onu na ekwuru ora'

    ReplyDelete
  64. Linda, whoever gave you this pictures must have scammed you. I live off Adetola Street, and I am not aware of this construction work you are talking about. Some work was done there but was abandoned. But the worst is Brown Road, a parallel to Adetola Street, very close, also by the same contractor. For about three years now, they have not been able to complete a road that is not up to 1&1/2 kilometre. Yet they destroyed the road and rendered it impassable. It is terrible. Whoever took the pictures of Adetola should tell also about Brown Road nearby. Adetola is even better than Brown. They simply destroyed the road, rendered it impassable and abandoned it.

  65. Linda, there are so many roads in Lagos like this that needs serious attention. For example the Okota-Ikotun road and Ago palace road where i presently reside. That road has done more damage to my car and other motorist especially during the rainy season. The Lagos state government should please give attention to these major roads and its like in the metropolis.

  66. I just saw the pictures and I do not agree with the claim. I live on Akinsulire street,an adjoining street to Adetola Street. I use the road every day. While I recognize the first set of pictures of the bad road(the grey house with an abandon cement mixer are landmarks of the turning into my street), I cannot identify with the new set of pictures; meaning it is not the same place as there are not landmarks in common. It is not the time yet to comment anyone. There are about three(3) alternative routes out of that End of Aguda, Surulere namely Oladimeji Street, Adetola street and Brown Road. All three are in bad shapes, the worst of them being Adetola Street. Currently, Brown Road has received a face-lift under the construction by local contractor(Plycon Nigeria Ltd). I suspect that the pictures may be from Brown Road. The Adetola Road has been in that state for over 2 years with a snail pace work done; every raining season is a dreaded period. Some people have their cars parked to avoid costly damage to them.
We hope that the State government can remember us and also force the local government that has no presence to perform its duty.
