Old woman sleeping on Ikorodu street has been rescued (photos)

Aww...this makes me happy. Earlier today, I posted photos of an old woman who was found sleeping on a street in Ikorodu (read here). Well, her family saw the LIB post & went to get her. Below is the email I got with photos from the rescue...
"Hello Linda, I am writing to inform you that the people of the aged woman have come to carry her away to the hospital. Thanks to your effort in helping to share the information. The aged woman's people saw it on your Facebook page. We the people in this community really appreciate your work. Here are proves of her being carried by her people." See more photos after the cut...

    2. All the people blaming the kids for neglect, have you considered the fact that the old woman might be living separately from her children?

Secondly have you considered the fact that she might have alzheimers or dementia thus wandered off and forgot where she was going to?

Please be more guarded with your wicked utterances and baseless assumptions till you hear from the family. Hopefully, they'll release a press statement to Linda as to what truly hapened.

Ever heard of Alzheimer's, of just plain old dementia? Obviously not! Pls think small before you comment and curse the good people who came to pick up their grandma abeg. *omojeje*

  73. I rejoice with the old woman's children. The woman may be suffering from Amnesia without anybody or herself being aware of this, I would advise that she should be properly examined and taken good care of. The children should never let her out of their sight at any time as she could wander off and lost her way as she did now,her eating habit should also be monitored as she may sometimes forget to eat (and she may go hungry for a long time which will affect her health adversely.)

I am speaking from experience as it happened to my mother and before we realized what was happening, it was too late, we lost her!

Thank God/you Linda for spreading the information.

Keep up the good work and God will bless and reward you.

  76. Princess,it is not that the children abandoned their mother, it is just that they did not know that she has a problem. Amnesia can strike at anytime in old age. You can only become aware when the sufferer start acting strangely as mama did.

Please do not always jump into conclusion on some issues, you investigate first before making a final statement. Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Thank you Linda for a job well done. I am quite happy that the kids have responded by coming to take the woman away for medical care. Those who are condemning the kids are only acting holier than thou.
