2015 Consumer Summit holds 29th to 30th July @ Sheraton Hotel

The World Consumer Forum 2014 Research, showed that virtually all business that exist in today's world have ties with digital, mobile and online transaction ranging from e-Banking, e-payment for product, rendering services digitally, sales of products and services through online and mobile means to consumers.


All these accumulated together have changed our world. At the comfort of our offices and homes people can Bank, pay for goods and services, book tickets online, pay for utilities bills, recharge cable TV, pay school fees and several transaction are done digitally in our today world.



However, all these go with it issues that affects consumer's right in enjoying the goods and services paid for. This summit is designed to address consumer rights and satisfaction in the present digital economy and digital business transactions regime.

As Companies and individual businesses grow daily, it is important to place priority on consumer rights and satisfaction in other to maintain scale of growth in this our present day competitive business world.
 These consumer complaints and unsatisfactory services is a big concern to Regulatory Agencies, stakeholders and business owners who are offering various products and services to consumers in this 21st century digital economy.

There are currently more than 120 million mobile phone subscriptions in Nigeria and about 400 million subscribers in Africa, the Internet is used by more than 250 million African citizens and in Nigeria according to NITDA 2014 Report, and we have 44 million internet users. More than half of Nigeria and African consumers have made at least one online purchase in the last Twelve months about 80% of online consumers are using price comparison website to find better deals.

This summit is designed uniquely to develop solutions to individuals, companies and multinational companies on ways to resolve and give satisfaction to consumers who uses digital payments( like mobile Banking, POS, online payment and banking, Automated teller machines {ATM} and other payment platform designed for consumers). A consumer will use the ATM and the consumers gets alert the account has being debited, but the consumer will never get the cash which debit alert was received. The consumer will report to the Bank and these complaints will linger for days and into months. The Central Bank of Nigeria and other experts will educate consumers and providers of these services on how to resolve this complaint at the comfort of your home.

The issue of booking ticket online without getting required services will be addressed and resolved at the summit; with the summit airline passengers will know how to necessary steps to get solution from airline companies without the stress of waiting for several days and months to get complaints resolved. Airline companies and Travel Agencies will also understand the best mechanism to resolve passenger complaint as quickly as possible.

The emerging online shopping and e-markets of today is trend everybody is happy with. At the comfort of your home and offices, you can buy and shop online without going through traffic and wasting your time. But, a lot of consumers are crying and complaining that they are unsatisfied and cheated by some online shopping companies. Consumer companies are either the products paid for are different from what is delivered or payments are made but the online shopping company claims the payment made did not reflect on their account; when this payment discrepancy arises the consumer will either loose his money or tears will begging to flow from the consumers who will waste his airtime making calls for several days that will run into weeks until it will be resolved or never resolved. This summit is intended to educate online shopping companies and consumers the quickest way to address consumer conflicts.

Another area that Nigerians are cheated is the new digital electricity billing regime, Hotels, Companies, Homes and offices are paying through their nose and do not understand how the reading of digital meters reads so unfairly, This summit will host the chairman on Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission(NERC) and other stakeholders to unveil the solution to the menace to consumers.
The Nigerian Communication Commission is also on ground to make consumers understand their rights as well as make telecom providers (GSM providers) understand their roles and responsibilities to mobile phone users. Knowing what to do when your phone credit is wrongly debited and services not satisfactory makes you a king in your telecom world.

This Summit is geared towards providing a platform that will inculcate solutions to consumers and providers of consumers products and services in the emerging digital and online transaction viz a viz; ecommerce transaction, online Banking, online payments, e-Transacts, e-payment, e-Services and other digitally related transaction by applying international standards in consumer relations.
This summit will present to participants the best brain and experts as well as the regulatory bodies in major digital economy new era system.

The Director General Consumer Protection council of Nigeria (CPC), Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Standard organization of Nigeria (SON) National Information Technology of Nigeria (NITDA) World Consumer Forum(WCF), Vogue Pay Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority and other Airline and booking companies, Nigerian Bar Association, Nigerian Association of Travel Agencies, Federation of Tourism Association Nigeria and High Court Judges, E-payment companies will be on ground to educate consumers and providers on solutions to long awaited consumer unsatisfactory services in our today digital economy.
