    5. As is the case almost everywhere in the country, drainage systems are built, but the people decide to use them for refuse dump. what else do u expect to happen? charity begins at home they say, people should learn to use their heads.

Lol, i like your choice of words. but we all know that there are certain areas around the country which usually get hit hard when its the rainy season. this is no exception, although the peoples inability to sanitize their environments properly is a huge contributing factor to the issue.

Of course, what else do they expect? when people are too lazy to dispose of their garbage, the easy way out is for them to sweep it into the drains and gutters. So, this is the after effect. Nigerian will never learn, its the same issue affecting so many areas in Port Harcourt.

      Delete
    2. Short and simple. i don't know what people on this thread are yapping about. the drains need to be unclogged, and people need to stop tossing their trash into the drains. It wont evaporate or wash away, it'll stay there, build up and cause shit like this to happen. Until we as people learn to change certain wrong life patterns, things like this will def continue.

I live at Aba and this is just faults road we're not happy at all about the situation because of the past administration that has decided to neglect this city not only the flood we're are also struggling with dirts on the major roads, bad roads, disorderliness of the city and unpaid salaries we just pray for a better government that will make abia better

    ReplyDelete
  59. Flood is natural but only becomes worse if there is a poor drainage system and a bad topography.Yes,it is the responsility of govt to work on the environment and make it habitable for the people.Aba's case is even better than other serious cases of flooding in some states. However, the administration of Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has vowed to tackle the major areas in Aba that are been ravaged by flooding and other bad roads in Aba within his 100 days in office and he needs our support.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yes i agree it is Governments responsibility to work on the environment, but it is also the peoples responsibility to keep their environments clean too. a mother can only wipe her baby's bum for a while, afterwards, the child takes responsibility. Government cant do it all alone. I believe as you said, the new Administration n will look into it, its just a matter of time, but people should also learn to take responsibility and do the right things.
