Nigeria's four refineries to begin operation next month - NNPC

The spokesperson of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Mr Ohi Alegbe says that Nigeria's four refineries - two in Port Harcourt, one in Kaduna and the other one in Warri will resume production next month.
“The refineries at Warri, Port Harcourt and Kaduna will resume next month after a successful turn-around-maintenance (overhaul) of their facilities. The turn-around-maintenance has been on for some time. We did not just want to make any noise about it. The refineries will start production as soon as they have delivery of crude oil for refining,” he told AFP. Amen!

    1. ARRI REFINERY WAS DELIBERATELY STARVED OF CRUDE OIL“The Warri Refinery is not as bad as it is being painted. The major problem is that it has no crude to refine often. Port Harcourt Refinery worked for 21 days in November last year andgenerated billions of naira. What has happened since then? I cannot confirm, but there is a school of thought which says that the refineries are being painted bad so that they can be sold to some vested interests at a give-away prices.“Why is crude not allocated to our refineries often, whereas we export crude often to refine abroad? Why do we believe so muchin carrying crude outside to refine? This is a food for thought for the incoming government”, he queried.

Buhari hasn't even appointed his ministers and he seems confused at the moment. Light , refinery , agriculture projects that are already yielding results while some would pick up in few months time are all Jonathan projects. Buhari should first appoint his ministers.

2nd, have you not heard that the refineries were shot down for no reason other than to bring about subsidy and import fuel via cabal?
the former petroleum minister sacked several top nnpc managers who didn't want to play along.
Now some of the big boys of nnpc have started resigning so it won't be an outright sack and they lose their pension etc.
there were NOTHING wrong with the refineries in the 1st place

  44. The Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, on Friday explained why Nigeria’s four refineries in Port Harcourt, Warri and Kaduna have still not undergone repairs more than four years after their original builders completed the technical assessments on them.
Speaking as a guest on a radio programme monitored in Abuja, Mrs. Alison-Madueke, said the turn-around maintenance, TAM, had not taken place due to the level of decay at the plants.
After her assumption of office in 2007, the minister said she carried out extensive tour of the refineries to assess the functional conditions of the various units.
She said at the end of the tour, she was shocked at the extent of dilapidation and the state of decay of the equipment, adding that most of the units were obsolete that they could hardly produce again.
“To get a replacement for the equipment was not possible, because they were obsolete,” she said. “For over 20 years, the equipment were not changed or maintained.”
She said her findings compelled the government to immediately invite the original builders of the refineries to carry out a complete technical assessments of them to determine the corrections that needed to be done
“It was clear that contracts had been given out by previous governments, but the people who took the contract did not know what they were doing because of the state the refineries were at the time.
A preliminary timetable for the repair work was drawn up for the repairs to be completed within 24 months to raise the production capacities of the three refineries to an average of 90 per cent.
It was learnt that the Japanese firm that built the Port Harcourt refinery had relied on the evidence from a security tracking device, Nigerian Security Tracker, NST, to take its decisions on whether to come to Nigeria or not.
The device is a project of the United States Council on Foreign Relations maps violence in Nigeria motivated by, socio- economic and political grievances.
After prolonged negotiations on security, insurance, and labour costs, the minister said government could not sign the formal agreement with the companies due to the prohibitive cost of foreign patronage and issues of guarantees and warranties for post-work maintenance.
The last time a comprehensive TAM was conducted on the three refineries was in 1992.
The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, monthly production information, MPI, for December 2014 showed that only Port Harcourt Refinery is currently functional at 8.77 per cent capacity utilization

  50. Evil diezanni concluded that we can't produce oil in our refineries due to the dilapidated state and GEJ did a huge favour by subsidising fuel. Just less than 3 weeks after election all the queues in petrol station in Abuja disappeared. If them like make dem don dey on am since, all I know is that we finally have a leader who knows what the office CinC means and not 1 who takes it as a title. Make dem nor let operation start now. Just like GEJ said in an interview in London b4 being elected " I dnt know what subsidising of petrol products means I was head of state and had a minister for petroleum we made several barrels and not a time did we hear abt subsidising, I was minister for petroleum and in my time we ddnt subsidise fuel but like I said when I get there am sure the people responsible would be able to explain" Lmao make una explain now! Next day after this interview marketers called off thier strike. After election, abuja city when no get fuel months b4 election suddenly queue stopped! Abeg ehn make all the things una dey work on better start to show. Mshewwww ndi ewu ppl.

  51. Those of you attributing this to GEJ, how come he could not do it in six years he was in power. Didn't you people hear when Diezani said last year that it would take four years for refineries to work again? Pls give Buhari credit. It is the fear of PMB that has got people on their toes! It is as simple as that.

    1. Wow! Fear of buhari made 4 refineries work in 3 weeks. Well same fear of buhari should chase bokoharam out in less. Human beings r so clueless

  52. GEJ may have started the maintenance, but they had no intention of telling the public. Why keep it a secret? It is the right of every Nigerian to know... As i read above, The Fear Of Buhari is the Beginning of Change!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  53. They probably gave approval for this maintenance since but they didnt do it till now, because they know PMB will be sniffing out where the money went to... Wise up jor! GEJ didnt have anything to do with this. As far as I'm concerned, that man was drunk throughout his administration.

  55. So our refineries can work again??

    ReplyDelete
  56. Guys, I can tell you authoritatively that the refineries were all working before now. The problem was that the refineries, NNPC, DPR, PPPRA and FG officials all connived to take refined products and reroute to Nigeria as imported products just to collect billions as subsidies. GEJ could not stop the cabal or he simply benefited from the sleaze. But Buhari is here and they know that they cannot continue to do that.

    ReplyDelete
  57. This isn't the full story. Each Refinery will need to have $500mUSD each to be at full capacity plus money to operate. They have a long way to go, but at least they are trying to move in the right direction.

    ReplyDelete
  58. If this story isn't a ruse, there is definitely a twist somewhere. We had a Minister who at every turn preached the impossibility of making refineries work in Nigeria. The NNPC seconded that thought, you might say danced to her music. Now what do we hear, the seemingly feckless GEJ Govt. was secretely carrying out maintenance works on all four refineries. Are these sorts of things meant to be held as state secrets? I'm all for making the Ex-Minister expose all of her other secrets.

Too much talk about who gets the credit. I think the answer is simple. GEJ gets the credit for doing the maintenance, PMB gets the credit for bringing them back to life.Because if PMB was not in charge, that maintenance would have gone on for another 4years(while others are pocketing the money) and Oil marketers who have partners in NNPC top execs would have continued to fleece the country through unrealistic subsidy figures. The fear of PMB is truly the beginning of doing the right things.

  67. I'm sorry to say this but seriously some people are so gullible on dis blog uttering jack shi*...If GEJ is still there till date dis Refineries would be so dead forever and forgotten because we all knw the kind of man/leader he was when he was in power, you people need to know what Diezani said months back concerning dis Refineries,Mrs Alison Madueke told Nigerians that it will gulp trillions to make functional and will take four years counting from last year,so you foolish PDPIGS needs to know that the fear of Buhari is the beginning of wisdom, please am begging you foolish, daft and gullible people to think deeply before uttering rubbish from your stinking mouth....Linda please post my comment...Love you still Lindodo

  69. Which GEJ, he could not control the so called CABAL, so they will make sure our refineries don't work and they can continue to exploit Nigerians through unreal subsidy. Now that a no nonsense President, evryone is sittin up and doin their work while the cabals have started resigning from NNPC and leaving the country before they are caught. That is what weak GEJ could not do. Now I can smell a leader who can enforce himself because he is not corrupt or stealing as our GEJ as separated stealing from corruption

    ReplyDelete
  70. This is a product of the past administration. The truth is that they wanted to eat more money with it while work is going on. Cos Aliso said it will take four years to complete from 2014. Since GEJ has losses, they had to open up.

The fear of buhari is the beginning of wisdom. GEJ is a good man quite alright but he is not the right leader for this country yet. Nigeria and the sabeutors we have need a hard man they can fear

    ReplyDelete
  71. How come he never mentioned the refineries are almost ready in his campaign strategy. Instead he was showing himself in a gym exercising with Mama peace. Stop selling this smooth and quiet operator shit. Honestly, I feel like slapping some pple's head here so it can reset to proper reasoning

  72. If only u had known wat? Nigerians r just foolish. When GEJ wuz dere,u all called him clueless, now sm1 is dere n u guys wont allow him do his job. B happy more pple will b employed in d refineries n not who to gv d credit to

  73. Credit to GEJ he would have been a better president after learning from his mistakes and above all learning that the heart of his men was deceitful

    ReplyDelete
  74. There they go again, exactly where they want all you morons to be..to start a debate on who gets the credit and overlook the real deal. We have all these rogues constantly sabotaging our dear country, and we are here debating who should get the credit. What credit are we talking about here? It's frustrating seeing how gullible and disorientated we are in all circumstances. I give up!!!! All refineries for some reason are in working condition (Idiots). Jonathan didn't use the work-in-progress as a headline for his campaign (bullshit), Buhari has only been in power for 3 weeks and sll of a sudden we are where we are now (bastards). Nigerians think!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  75. This is good news but until it comes to manifestation i wont believe, this is naija. We also need uninterrupted power supply, that's equally as important.

  76. Only dumb youths will Give credit to Buhari. The nigga has not even moved into Aso. No petroleum minister no nothing. GEJ was working but Nigerians were too blind to see it. They let Tinubu play with their heads. Let's hope we haven't made the wrong choice with the old man traveller.

    ReplyDelete
  77. I am quite shocked that some clueless, dumb and ignorant Nigerians are crediting this feat to GEJ. Just in case your dumb brains don't know, this won't have been possible if your GEJ was still in power... I really you guys knew what was going on.

    ReplyDelete
  78. After 5 years he couldn't order for the turn around maintainance, now you are attributing the development to GEJ, it is stupid, even during the campaign, allison said, Nigeria will keep importing refined oil for the next 16 years, it is the fear of Buhari that brought about the development, if in 2012 ur clueless GEJ had ordered for the maintainance wouldn't it have been operating in 2013? so stop saying shit. Change has come, Clueless foolish igbos, keep supporting a stupid man.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Turn Around Maintenance takes 45 days. If it has taken longer it means it was delayed for particular reasons. I want to assume then that the TAM started after the election was won and lost. Maybe the contract had been awarded and some people sat on it? I guess the fear of Buhari expedited the process

  83. THANK YOU DR GOODLUCK JONATHAN FOR ALL YOUR HARD WORK. DR JONATHAN WAS BEHIND THIS ALL ALONG. GOODLUCK JONATHAN ADMINISTRATION DID ALL THE HARD WORK. THIS PROGRESS HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH GENERAL BUHARI OR APC, AND THEY ALL KNOW I SPEAK THE TRUTH. GENERAL BUHARI AND APC NEEDS TO SET THE RECORDS STRAIGHT ABOUT WHO SHOULD BE CREDITED. IT VERY, VERY WRONG FOR GENERAL BUHARI AND APC TO GET THE CREDIT FOR PDP AND JONATHAN'S HARD WORK.

    ReplyDelete
  84. It would have bn dumb of Jonathan to be working on the refineries and not mention it during the campaign , and it's impossible for pmb to have fixed it within weeks he his not a magician . In reality nothing really happened to the refineries

How long did Madueke say it will take for the refineries to work again? How long has it taken PMB. Tell the truth and let the devil be ashamed.

WHY WAS DIEZIANI LOOKING FOR BUHARI UP AND DOWN AFTER BUHARI WAS DECLARED WINNER? SHE WANTED TO COVER HER TRACKS. GEJ'S GOVERNMENT PURPOSELY LIED THAT THE REFINERIES WERE NOT WORKING SO THAT THEY CAN EAT MONEY FROM THEIR SO CALLED SUBSIDY. THANK YOU BUHARI, GOD WILL CONTINUE TO BLESS YOU AND USE YOU TO SAVE NIGERIA FROM ITS MESSY SITUATION. WHOM THE LORD HAS BLESSED, NO MAN CAN PULL DOWN!
