Lol. Arik passengers say they were left in the tarmac while crew boarded bus & left (photos)

The LIB reader who was a passenger said this happened yesterday on the 5pm flight arriving in Lagos from Benin City. Arik crew entered the bus and left the passengers to find their way out of the tarmac. Na wa! More photos after the cut...

Do you know if that crew are being used for another flight and are being taken there to avoid delays? Make una dey get sense abeg...

    2. Anon 10.47, you are a bigger fool. Have you not heard of customer service? Even if the bus needed to bring in other crew members couldn't the crew stay n pacify the customers they came in with? And go later? Am sure you are one of them.

      Delete
    3. Anon, are u saying they use d same crew for all their flights lmao, it's even worse than we thought o. So it's also possible that, d bus for d crew (exclusive my foot) arrived on time to pick them, but the passenger's are to walk? Na u need small sense abeg!

    5. Arik staff, please respond to the message and not the messenger.

Will there be a crew without the proceeds from the passengers?

shouldn't the crew be the last to disembark?by which time the passengers should be long gone.

Don't worry Mr/Mrs. Arik employee of the month, continue to behave this way and you'll soon go in the way of your predecessors (extinct!!)

  23. It's the Airports' responsibility to provide shuttle buses to transport passengers from Tarmac to arrival hall not the airline. I am not sure if this is an isolated case or a regular occurrence if it is the latter, then the airline might want to consider providing shuttle buses just for the comfort of their customers. That said, It's a tricky situation for the airline. If they (the airline) have the authorisation to provide shuttle buses for their customers, the buses have to be bought, the drivers have to be paid and the buses have to be maintained leading to higher operational costs that will definitely lead to ticket price hikes. If the airlines say " well it's none of our business" then they will be faced with situations like this one where the airline is seen in a bad light.

The Pressure has to be put on the airport authorities to do their job! Provide shuttle buses.

  27. Dear Linda,

i work in the airport and the duty of taking passengers from the Ramp to the arrival hall is the duty of the airport authority not Arik air, the passengers have paid for this services, arik air is only taking their passengers for comfort purpose it is not their duty to do so and it is a requirement that the crew must be taken to their base. however, passengers are also very important to the business.

our airport authorities should live up to expectation i have not seen any where in the world where airline pick their passengers to the terminal building, it is only the airport authority that does that and the bill goes to the airline.

    i stand to be corrected.

    regards.

    1. You're speaking from the point of view of someone in the industry, but the fact of the matter is that most people don't know all this & at the end of the day this incident reflects poorly on the airline involved not airport authority. Cos our 'contract' as passengers is with Arik Air, not MMA2 or whatever airport per se. So, unless they are comfortable having a reputation for despicable customer service, Arik should do better.
Besides, there's simply no moral justification for the crew boarding a bus & abandoning their passengers out on the tarmac without even the courtesy of an explanation...

      Delete
  28. A lot of people apparently have bells for Arik. This is a non-story beg

    ReplyDelete
  29. Isn't transporting passengers FAAN's responsibility. Ya'll need to get informed.

    ReplyDelete

  30. Please all should kindly note that it is not the duty not Arik to transport passengers from the ramp to the airport building, FAAN is owing Arik a whole lot of dough as regards these services which they at FAAN has refused to deliver, it is strictly FAAN's job to do and not Arik's

    ReplyDelete
  31. Its the duty of the airport authority to 'carry' passengers from the plane to the terminal building not the airline. That means FAAN. FAAN actually gets away with blue murder and dumps everything at the feet of the airlines.

    ReplyDelete
  32. That bus is for the crew and not for passengers and believe that those passenger were later pick up by Arik passengers bus.pls tell the passenger that posted this thing to pls update us.

    ReplyDelete
  33. it is the duty of the airport authority to pick passengers to the terminal not the airline because this service has been paid for.

taking the crew to their base is not a bad idea.

there is no place in the world that airline pick passengers to the terminal building,it is the duty of the airport authority to do so and forward the bill to the airline.
    i stand to be corrected.
it is time we take responsibility of our actions.

  37. Anything Arik is news for Linda even when it is no fault of the airline. You need to know that its FAAN's responsibility to transport passengers to and fro the terminal building. The agency has since abdicated this responsibility to the airlines and this is why you guys are now blaming Arik. Pls leave Arik alone.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Where in the world have you seen airlines using their vehicles to carry passengers to the terminal building. The airport authority is supposed to do this but here in Nigeria things are done differently. Airlines pay FAAN for this service and the agency never get to offer the service to passengers.

    ReplyDelete
  39. FAAN should be held responsible this now.FAAN pls do your part jo. provide shuttle buses for passengers at the airport. That is part of what the passenger service charges you collect for each passenger should be used for.

  50. Social media has made some Nigerians so stupid. Airlines have buses for every sections. There are buses for passengers and bus for crew. Aside the Cobus (Tarmac long bus) Arik provides coaster and mini buses for passenger in the absence of the Cobus. There are two things here, its either the buses have carried one or even two sets of passengers to the arrival and is yet to return to pick the remaining passengers or the point the plane parked is a short distance from the arrival which passengers are allowed to walk down. I work at the airport, so I know how this things work. The person that reported this is jobless or its one of those that steal from aircrafts.

    1. So which do we believe oooo, all u airport workers? Is it d duty of FAAN to provide buses or that of Airlines?

    2. Yes it is the duty of the airport authority but airlines do make an extra effort to provide buses which are different from that used to convey passengers. That bus is a crew bus and anon 1:51pm has explained it all.

FYI there is no crew members without passengers as far as commercial airline is concerned. Ode of the century
