  25. Yes, if the motorist and the policeman know themselves. We were not there to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the situation. We shouldn't be so quick to criticize our ppl, bc I believe there re stil some good people in the police force

  26. Ofcourse its possible, Lindiway some days ago, you posted a picture of a Nigerian police officer helping a motorist push his car.

  34. As a matter of fact, This can happen anywhere in the world, only that it happens more often in some places than some other places. There are nice police officers in Nigeria just as there are mean officers in Dubai too. I have had them discriminate against me with Taxi pick up in Dubai airport just because im not muslimor whatever. so do not let us make this about the countries. There are still nice people in this world. Lets promote love and kindness. Be nice to people everwhere you go. Home or Abroad

  38. Well, if this happens in Nigeria, this means the person is a rich dude willing to part away with maybe 5k to the police boys... and if its LASTMA that catches you in this situation, they would be veru willing to give you a ticket for letting your tyre go flat on the road... Please Linda, help us make things better by exposing these naija foolish government officials that dont know anything apart from money money money ...bribe bribe bribe...

    Thanks

  46. I don't know about tyre but I know that at least police helped take a man that had an accident recently to the hospital. Infact when the accident happened, they were close by but they quickly took him to the hospital and brought him home. BUT, the next day, another set from the same division still tried to obtain money from the man. But the initial group were good. Kudos.

  48. Linda - Yes they can. I have been helped out with fuel by a Kind Policeman during the Fuel Scarcity when I went out of Fuel on Airport Road Abuja

  51. haba y not?...just dis sat at the oriental hotel after our #AYE event my car refused to start and i was blocking someone from leaving..mopols with Gov Ambode helped check the car and brought out their own truck battery with a jump starter and had my car running...i was stunned and 2say impressed was the least.even after asking a couple of officers prior 2d aid dat didnt even bulge. so yea linda this happens not can it?

    ReplyDelete
  52. It is empirically impossible for a Nigerian police to help a motorist in such condition. But looking at the kind of Car, they may be tempted to do so if you dangle some money before them.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Linda why are you doing this in a hard way? didn't you see a police man pushing a faulty car the other day?

    ReplyDelete
  54. Yes. This has happened in Nigeria and its still a daily occurrence but what happens next is the question. Nigger Police will always demand for "Roger" Lolz.

    ReplyDelete
  55. It does happen in Nigeria. In VI, the cab I was in had a flat tire and the policeman helped the cab guy change his tire. Even using tools from their (the police) vehicle. Another time in port-harcourt, the cab needed a push and the policemen at the checkpoint helped out. I felt very happy.

    ReplyDelete

  62. It's normal for police officers in any civil society, they swore to SERVE and protect, they would do this and more especially if they know you might be putting your life and others in danger. I was once helped by the London Met police when I broke down on the motorway because the AA were running late

  70. Yes, it is also happening in Nigeria. It happened to me right in front of a Police station in FESTAC. It was 8:50 pm and I was with my family in my car, the place was dark and I had a flat tyre. Two Police men approached me and helped to change the tyre and advised me to go before it is too dark. I wanted to know them to compensate later but they refused to disclose their identities.

  87. Actually, Yes. This can happen in Nigeria and has indeed happened to me in Nigeria. Had a flat Tyre on 3rd Mainland Bridge on my way to work. I managed a bit and eventually had to park off the side of the road (before the right turn into Yaba) There were about 3 Policemen there and they helped me change the bad Tyre. Had to 'dash' them in the end but yea, they did help me.

  90. It happened to me in Lagos, Nigeria in 1996 to be precise, I had a flat tyre on Anthony Oke and a police patrol vehicle stopped beside me and the head of the unit asked what the problem was, told him i had a flat tyre and he ordered his men to remove the flat tyre and replace it with a spare one for me, he was even saying 'we need to hurry up as this place is a black spot'. God bless the officer and his men!

    ReplyDelete

  98. I live in Abu-Dhabi and this is not a new thing here. If your car is faulty a whole Police Car will stand with you try to help you and if they can't they won't leave until a technician come to Repair. If you're Stranded The police (if not on emergency) will give U a lift to your destination free of charge... That's why I most time oppose the western Media attack on the Arabs, most Arabs have good heart than Westerners and Africans. Police will never hit you, no use of force, no pointing gun they greet you calmly really

    ReplyDelete
  99. Yes, Linda it actually did happened in Nigeria. A friend of mine posted on FB how some Nigeria Police Officer assisted him change a flat tyre. This happened at NIGHT!

  106. In Lekki, Lagos State, just just before Ikate roundabout when coming from Victoria Island, my vehicle suddenly stopped running, I had to park. The Nigerian Police power bike rider saw me, parked behind me, I was initially worried what the guy's intention were, and after, I was at rest, he sought me a mechanic, stayed with me, found I was out of fuel and my meter wasn't telling the truth, he gave the mechanic a ride to the fuelling station, brought him back with the fuel (I gave the mechanic money though) and I was quite surprised. And you know how kitted up they are on bike and he was polite throughout. I was impressed by the service delivery and I had to appreciate him for it. I had good impression a bit more of the police after that day.

  115. YES! It has happened. My car stopped on third mainland bridge around 9:15pm on my way home from work; police (who said they were on patrol on the bridge because of ritual killers) stopped for me, helped me clear my car to the service area near Ebute Meta entry, brought their battery to see if my car would start, after which they to towed my car to Oregun. Everything for free; though I entered house, brought around 2k for Kola, since they came to my house.

  116. Abeggy..I am not impressed..

  120. Please don't underestimate nigerian heart for care.

It has happened to me .I experienced it here in Nigeria. I was driving from Magboro ,where i was leaving then to Alausa on a public holiday. I had a flat tyre on long bridge, shortly before Kara,Ojudu Berger, lagos -Ibadan express way . The mobile policemen in patrol van waited and collected wheel span from me,changed the tyre and while this was going on , 2 mobile police men corked their guns and at alert, facing opposite sides. This event happened at about 11am ,3 years ago.I posted it on my facebook immediately after.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Yes Linda. I've been helped before. I live in Abuja.

    ReplyDelete
  128. Sure it can happen in Nigeria only if you can give them 20k for the weekend.

    ReplyDelete
  129. Lol. I had a flat tyre around anthony and a yeye olodo police man tried to electrocute me with a taser when I was changing my tyre

    ReplyDelete
  130. The person that shared this is a liar.. His claim cannot happen anywhere; the cops can only help push the car safely to the side and not leave important duties to start replacing tyres. Whatever happened to towing van and premium insurance; he sure can afford that if he can't do it himself?
I reckon it's a police van tht they are working on.

    ReplyDelete
  131. Yes it can happen in Nigeria but it will be LASTMA not police. LASTMA is always available to help.
