The Leadership of the APC has released a statement rejecting the emergence of Senator Bukola Saraki and Hon Yakubu Dogara as Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representatives. The statement in part reads
"Senator Bukola and Hon. Dogara are not the candidates of the APC and a majority of its National Assembly members-elect for the positions of Senate President and House Speaker. The party duly met and conducted a straw poll and clear candidates emerged for the posts of Senate President, Deputy Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representatives, supported by a majority of all Senators-elect and members-elect of the House of Representatives.
All National Assembly members-elect who emerged on the platform of the party are bound by that decision. The party is supreme and its interest is superior to that of its individual members. Consequently, the APC leadership is meeting in a bid to reestablish discipline in the party and to mete out the necessary sanctions to all those involved in what is nothing but a monumental act of indiscipline and betrayal to subject the party to ridicule and create obstacles for the new administration. There can be no higher level of treachery, disloyalty and insincerity within any party"the statement read
In the APC dictionary, democracy doesn't exist. If it doesn't favor them, then it's not right.

ReplyDeletethe APC is not bigger than the Constitution of the Federal Republic. their internal rules/agreements are also subject to constitutional provisions. and today's proceedings in the national assembly were every bit in line with the provisions of the country's constitution.

ReplyDeleteThe single purpose for the formation of APC is to remove Jonathan.Once that was achieved through the politics of wickedness against the state,the masses and promotion of inter tribal hatred, the players are back doing what they know best - promotion of self interest and preservation of ill gotten political wealth.

ReplyDeletewhen tinubu did it through tambuwal, it was good for our democracy and it would deepen our democracy, now that the shoe is on the other foot, it is bad for our democracy. Clearly apc is not a party that is ready to practice true democracy, they are a very vindictive, biased and dictatorial party and God will save us from this one man party that Nigeria has found itself.

The national assembly is made up of APC and PDP, pray tell me how APC wants to impose their candidate on PDP too even if all Apc members vote for the LAWAN guy. abeg make una go rest. this is wat happens when you dont look beyond your nose. politics is a game of numbers and Saraki has proved that he is a better mathematician than all u APC bigots cryin foul....hafterall the enemy of my enemy is my friend....u guys should go to court and empower lawyers...of course u would lose the case#icurrless#
ReplyDeleteMust they hand-pick for all positions? That is not democracy. They should give people the chance to contest and lose. To be ambitious is not a crime in politics. how come only Tinubu's anointed sons or individuals are now the change Nigerians want? One man cant run this country to his own advantage. i salute the courage of those who pulled the plug on him like men. this Nigeria belongs to us all and not one person who thinks hes a political wizard just because Jonathans administration messed things up and gave him the chance for Nigerians to follow the so called 'change'.

ReplyDeleteI wish to know whether the newly constituted 8th National Assembly meet constitutionally requirement of 2/3 majority in selecting their leaders, if they do why is it that few of the member of APC who has became ruling party as of 15th May,2015 and was just been inaugurated into office barely a week ago complaining about.Please,help me inform them that the change agent Nigerians desires for is nothing but a true Democracy as we have just witness in the 8th National Assembly.let them support the victory of Bukola Sariki, and Yakubu Dogara as leaders of both the Senate and House of representative. they should should also know that able president Goodluck Jonathan has sacrificed dearly for Nigeria to be sustained let APC emulate for peace to reign.
