15 year old child bride accused of killing husband discharged and acquitted

15 year old Wasila Tasi'u, the child bride who poisoned and killed her 35-year-old husband, Umar Sani and his friends in April 2014, has been discharged and acquitted by a Kano High Court sitting in Gezawa today June 9th.

The presiding Judge, Justice Mohammed Yahaya said based on the formal request from the state government asking for the case to be dropped, the court had no choice but to drop it and discharge the accused. "I have no alternative than to pronounce according to law that the application of ‘nolle prosequi’ (unwilling to pursue) is hereby granted. In consequence, therefore, you, Wasila Tasi’u, are hereby discharged.” he said

      go and read your law books again,didnt u read the part that say that she was married,the law qualifies you as an adult as soon as u get married,and this is no victory for child brides,y'll should read the post carefully, the case was dropped by the prosecutors so that's y d judge discharged her.

    this girl committed pre-meditated murder and y'll are rejoicing at her being freed just like that,sentiments aside this ruling is bullshit,she carefully planned and executed a murder, be it child bride or not,now who is gonna pay for her crimes,didnt her shit of relations or parents knew that she was young before they married her off,i feel sorry for Nigerian youths that never fail to think somethings properly before celebrating.i feel sad for her that she was married off at an early age,but murder is not the answer,she ought to have been remanded in a home for at least ten years.if we all start murdering people.for every shit that they give to us I wonder what the country would be like.

    Welcome news. Moving forward with her life, one hopes she gets necessary support to pursue some form of tangible skills and/education inorder to take care of herself. Hopefully, this case will be a reminder in the annals of Kano State history to re-think forced and early marriages of girls in particular.

    im seiously disturbed here o.wit everyone congratulating the young girl.i never for one day wud support child marriage but this girl committed murder,whether we like it or not that is what she did.are we now in an era where two wrongs make a right? couldn't there hav been another way?     That is the rule of law. ‘nolle prosequi’ is provided in our law as a discretion. That does not mean that the child bride is innocent
