Unlawful detention of two sisters

Just got this sad email from a LIB reader. Things like this just make me so sad. Read below...
There is an ongoing case of 2 young ladies (19 years and 24 years old) about to be locked up in Kirikiri because the older girl 'dared' to fight back when a self proclaimed rich woman assaulted her (pushed around and slapped her). The said rich woman - one Mummy Ada- locked both girls up at the Ogudu police Station overnight and have now taken them to court. They have put hand cuffs on the girls as if they are criminals when all they did was defend themselves. The girls (Chienyenwa and Obiajuru) are presently at a court in Ogudu now and they have been asked to pay N40k now else they will be taken to Kirikiri and locked up! Their father is running around now looking to raise this money.
This is so unfair and if the oppressed father was well to do, he would have been the one filing a suit against the woman for slapping his daughter around. I need you to help broadcast this please.
The DPO of Ogudu Police Station is Mrs Chioma Ajunwa (Olympic gold medalist) for Nigeria.
Will bring details about this story later. Once they sort out the girls' bail.

    4. U know nothing and for coming out here to lie, u'll receive thesame punishment as that woman and her husband! Those girls were just defending themselves from the woman! I'm an eye witness and even when their father heard the commotion and ran out, thesame mummy Ada tore his shorts! As we speak the girls have been locked up in kirikiri bcos mummy Ada and her husband can throw money around! How can a case that was charged to court just this morning be sentenced?! The wickedness of man!

  28. With these kind of injustices becoming a norm in Nigeria, do we blame those who smuggle drugs, turn to Robbery or do lucrative criminal acts? Let the evil rich ones learn that Revenge is best served cold and God is alive watching all we do.

  34. That's how the Nigerian judiciary is, if u steal billions u get 2years sentence or a N750k fine, or you get two year concurrence and u're free after two days in prison. if it N8 million u get 200 yrs, if it is a phone u get 20 yrs, the lesser the crime the more severe the sentence meaning it is those that do not steal enough to bribe that get severe sentences.

  41. This is terrible. To fix a nation, we have to fix ousrelves and also the judicial/enforcement system has to be on par, one devoid of prejudice. However, they have to stop all the "go and lock so so and so up" mentality in Nigeria. No one has power to order arrest except the judge. No even the police themselves. They have to have an arrest warrant in this case. Poor girls. I pray they come out of this and be able to sue the oppressor.

  48. Did u guys say Chioma will handled the case with the highest level of professionalism? You dont know Chioma Ajunwa. That woman that seized newspapers in Ogudu and unlawfully detained scores of journalists, despite judicial pronouncements against it. Chioma is just another policewoman on the road, sorry...

  53. Nigerians are quick to judge and believe false stories. I am disappointed LIB posted this without verifying the story. Be very careful so that the people sending you false stories will not put you in trouble. What will you do if you were attacked on your street by girls that are of your childrens age just because they claim that "you are rich". Let us all be careful of what we say and how we are quick to judge.
