Lagos Oba directs his subjects to stop paying water bill

The Oba of Onigbongbo in Ikeja LGA of Lagos state, Oba Munirudin Yusuf has ordered his subjects not to pay any more water bill brought them by officials of the Lagos state Water Board.

In an interview with NAN yesterday, Oba Yusuf said the state water board has refused for a long time not, to provide his kingdom with water but continuously bring water bill. He said many letters have been written to the water board complaining about their situation without any favorable outcome.

"The Water Corporation has continued to bombard the community which has not benefited from its services with outrageous bills. For this, I have ordered every household to disregard such bills while we manage our pipe borne water."he said
He said the lack of water has made every household dig up a borehole in their compound which will serve as a source of water.
"As a way out, the community has independently dug boreholes because of the serious challenge encountered in getting water. We want the state government to fulfil its promises on the provision of pipe borne water to allay water problem at Onigbongbo".

  2. Good development. Why pay for what u never consumed. The same measure should go for PHCN and their estimated bills. That's y Ghanaians protested over power outage but we love to suffer n smile. #Infela'svoice

  5. In my area NEPA has denied us light for more than three days now because residents dared to challenge their charges!!! These guys have refused to provide the automated meters and at month's end bring exorbitant bills! Imagine paying as much as 4500 for a self con!!!

    1. There are so many obas in lagos. Its not d other political oba (he rules only a part of lagos island). Lagos mainland is a combination of a lot of different communities.

  15. Now that's a true and sabi leader. Thumbs up to him, not d ones that will be jumbled up in corruption with d water board/institutions and so his judgement will be clouded being in cahoots with them and haven eaten out of d devil's pie. A good example, Goodluck Jonathan
