Catholic Bishops appeal to rescued pregnant women not to consider abortion

Catholic Bishops in Nigeria have appealed to rescued women who are pregnant for Boko Haram members not to consider abortion. The Catholic Bishops, under the aegis "Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria, CBCN spoke through the Chairman, Health Committee of the CBCN, Most Reverend Anselm Umoren at a press conference in Abuja today May 25th.

The Bishops in their submission, said the life of every baby was distinct from that of the parents. They insisted that aborting such children amounted to visiting the sin of the terrorists, who impregnated the women, on the innocent child.

  11. Both sides are right, but it's still the woman's decision to keep the baby.
But the women should try and forget about abortion, even in their situation is still a sin.

  15. Bull crap! Are they willing to take care of the babies, or explain to them that their fathers were terrorists who raped and assaulted their mothers? or that they are very the products of sorrow and shame? #letthechildrendecide

  18. Yes,its wrong 2 do that. This situation is hard anyway. They might end up hating the children if they bear them. Cos their sight alone will always bring back bad memoirs!

  19. Hmmm like seriously. Is this some kind of joke or what. What they have in their bellies are monsters. Nobody shud tell them to keep them abeg#veryabsurd

  22. Mtcheeeew.
We always holier than the pope himself.
So who would cater 4d women and their kids huh?
Except the bishop is ready to re enburse them financially.
Besides those babies if left to be birthed wouldn't know love cos they'd be a constant reminder of the nightmare the women passed through

  23. Not that easy tho cos in as much as I don't support abortion but at this point if I were in their shoes I might wanna consider the act. But nevertheless I go with the opinion of the bishops #onelovefromsnow#

  26. I'm a christian and a genuine one at that and also a medical student and I absolutely think and support the action of abortion for these kids because of the following reasons:
    1. These kids were molested in the most obscene of places and I believed rape and even if one idiot wants to claim "Concensuality"....pls what do they know.
    2. These kids av gone through so much trauma psychologically and physically even emotionally. Spiritually sef join.
    3. If they are below the ages of 18,then their parents should be consulted on their behalf and I honestly pray that d parents think about all the factors both present and future consequences and if they are willing to handle it and if their daughter is ready for it.
    4. These kids have their whole life before them, they don't need a reminder of the worst times of their lives ever even after undergoing counseling, the child wil serve as a reminder.
    5. Medically, is their organ mature enough to carry a foetus through out d intrauterine life and is there a guaranteed chance of safe delivery without complications.
    6. Have they been tested to know if there is any disease or sickness they have that they can pass on to their kids.
    7. These kids might grow up to hate the choice their parents made to keep d child now consider the child's feeling. Just ask to know what she thinks but still make d final unbiased decision
    8. Can they afford to take care of the children or will it be just increasing the uncatered population hence producing more touts.
    9. Just put urself in their shoes, what would u do? Sincerely honestly.
    10. In the early stages, the foetus is still no more than blood and If it makes u feel any better, the baby isn't fired yet so u aren't exactly taking a life. But I Pray God helps U to make the right decision. Amen

  27. I am against abortion but in the case of rape, I honestly do not have an opinion. The decision is up to the woman. My question is this, would the Catholic Church take up the full responsibility in bringing up these children?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Oga u want bastards to born to dis world. Sins of the father will always hunt them

    ReplyDelete
  29. Easy for them to say

  30. They're talking bullshit... Those women said they don't want those babies and that's their decision that needs to be respected... Catholic Church can support gay but not abortion?.. Then they're one very confused religion sect...!

  31. Abortion is never an option to consider, but I wld never blame those who want to do so. As innocent as the babies are, they will always serve as constant reminders of the horrors that the women faced while in captivity. These women were raped by not just one but several men, used as sex slaves,.... They really need lots of prayers for them to get themselves again.

  32. They shldnt abort?
    Hmmmmmm

    My Birthday is tomorrow
    Am really getting old o
    Lolz

  33. Its easy to bring religion into it when you were not the one brutally raped by savage terrorists! The hypocrisy of the catholic church is on another level.

    ReplyDelete
  34. They said the truth but pls let's be realistic. If I'm d one I will abort that pregnancy asap

    ReplyDelete
  35. Yes, I am against abortions. Thanks bishops

  36. Abeg, I am Catholic and even me will remove that baby.

    ReplyDelete
  37. These people and their high horses. Will they pay for the children's expenses through their lives? They'll say "God will provide" but the fact is, even believers wallow in poverty.

Yes, the children are innocent, which is why the mothers should be allowed the choice to abort them, to spare them from a world where the mothers regret their birth and would find them difficult to love.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Hmmmmmmmm are the bishops goin to take care of them?

    ReplyDelete
  39. Okay o we done hear Una opinion, I will be happy when I hear that they will also adopt and take care of all these children. Because am sure that the children would be a constant reminder of how the Mother was raped by members of the terrorists group.

    ReplyDelete
  40. eeya....na wa o!

    ReplyDelete
  41. They should have suggested that the children be given to them when they're born. How do you force a woman to take care of a child that is the product of rape? The catholic bishops should set up machineries for the adoption of the children rather than just to tell the women not to abort.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Hmmm, me I don't know wat to and it will be a sin on my side.

    ReplyDelete
  43. may God help us... i pity them sha....pls linda take note

  44. Hmmmmmmmm that Pilot Officer is ma senior in secondary so proud of him.......Abortion na wa oooh, killing future leaders is a very bad tin oooh

  45. Keeping the pregnancy will only continue to remind them of what they went through in hands of this deadly group.
