Is this a joke? Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau made TIME magazine 2015 Most Influential People list. Why is a terrorist in this list? Below is what
TIME wrote about Shekau...
Most Americans do not yet recognize his name, but the citizens of Nigeria, Africa’s most populous country, know Abubakar Shekau all too well: he is the most violent killer their country has ever seen. Shekau took over the terrorist organization Boko Haram in 2009 after the group had been weakened by Nigerian government forces.
Shekau, who is believed to be in his 30s, began to stage increasingly daring kidnapping and killing raids on schools, churches and mosques thought by Boko Haram to be violating their interpretation of Islam.
The taking of over 200 schoolgirls in April 2014 brought Boko Haram into the international spotlight.
By most accounts, Boko Haram has killed more than 10,000 people and is spreading into neighboring countries. Shekau’s latest action may finally summon a U.S. response: he has publicly aligned his group with ISIS, the terrorist group that holds territory in Syria and Iraq and has expanded its reach into Yemen and Libya.
I guess good and bad made the list*smh

ReplyDeleteStupid people promoting terrorism. why did they not put isis, charlie hebdo killers, taliban, al shabaab in there.
ReplyDeleteWhy are they celebrating killers?
Hypocrites..
they are not worth writing about..
Are they serious right now..... In Tyrese Gibson's voice....
ReplyDeleteThe last time I checked, I thought being on times influential list was for well meaning individuals who have achieved and still achieving a lot. Are they glorifying these bastards or something? I need answers mbok!
ReplyDeleteRecognising a killer? wonder shall never cease
ReplyDeleteThey're stupid! They need to undo this right away! They might as well have included Satan in their most influential list! I thought "influential" in this context meant positively so or anything but terrorism and raw undiluted evil!
ReplyDeleteSo dem dey mak boko haram feel important?

ReplyDeleteWTF how come? This is a big Surprise.
ReplyDeleteHmm! odiegwu
ReplyDeleteBuhari's brother
ReplyDeleteThis is so wrong. A terrorist shouldn't be on the list. They should put people who are role models to youths and adults alike. They are giving this Shekau guy undue accolade. I don't like this.
ReplyDelete#TeamBlessed#
Finally time magazine has defined what influential means to them. #shame! The likes of the Kardashians who were so happy to make the list can now reevaluate their thinking... silly direclict magazine!
ReplyDeleteNancy ;) bonario

#PropertyofWhiteHouse
I want to believe they needed to fill up the list. What are they promoting... Terrorism???? Cos if it's a joke, then it's quite expensive.
ReplyDeleteLinda, pls be informed that to be influential shouldn't always denote positive iimpact, it means Shekau has Impacts in his era...to many people the impact is bad,but its felt.
ReplyDeleteWTH r dey doin?? Encouraging him?
ReplyDeleteOf, course he has to. Bin Laden made the list twice during his time.
ReplyDeleteVISIT DNB STORIES
Linda I don't think that TIME magazine will be insensitive to make that booboo, people are gonna call them out for that. I think what they are implying is not a positive influence but the negative instead.
ReplyDeleteHmmmmmmm
ReplyDeleteYeye dey smell, absolute rubbish.
ReplyDeleteThey r making joke out of them. Dis is outright rubbish, and slap to our face.
ReplyDeleteSo there are making him famous ba....was Osama bin laden ever on d list?
ReplyDeleteBelieve it or not the vagabond has influenced quite a number of gullible people. Even Adolf hitler was times man of the year 1938.
ReplyDeleteLinda it is not a joke. He turned the North against GEJ, thus ensuring that he was voted out. His actions directly or indirectly, led to Buhari becoming our president elect.
ReplyDeleteWhat are they trying to tell us here? If killing people can get him on the influential list, then I guess we should be expecting more Shekau in the future.. Stupid things that gives people recognition these days..
ReplyDeleteNa wa o God will surely deliver his people
ReplyDeletesmh... if they say oyinbo people are stupid now some won't agree. why should they be glorifying this animal?
ReplyDeleteThis na rubbish, influential koo

ReplyDeleteOkokobioko! WTF
ReplyDeleteShortage of personalities.
ReplyDeleteHe is influential now even if its in a bad way.
ReplyDeleteWhen will black people realize that for the white people, it is all about race even when the vehemently proclaim otherwise. Our down fall in their gain. WAKE UP MY PEOPLE.
ReplyDeleteThey quoted "he is the most violent killer in the Africa's most populous country. He has publicly aligned his group with ISIS, the terrorist group that holds territory in Syria and Iraq and has expanded its reach into Yemen and Libya"
ReplyDeleteThus, he clearly exerts influence. Please check your dictionary for the meaning of influential and thank me later.
Na wa ooo...ridiculous
ReplyDeleteYeah, What The Fuck! That's the right word/exclamation for it. Alternatively, What The Hell!
ReplyDeleteSo??????? That now makes him influential???
ReplyDeleteMoye says so via BB Passport...Courtesy LIB....
In the real sense of it, he is actually influential but in a negative way. That is the truth.
ReplyDeleteWell, he sure has impacted the world in a negative way.
ReplyDeleteThis just confirms that they will make anyone and anything "most influential." So don't feel special when they make you one because, you have just been placed in the same league as mass murderers and child molesters
ReplyDeleteThey should stop promoting these bloodsucking demons.
ReplyDeletelinda...e dei pain u???....change ur profession na...turn terrorist!...hahahaha...just kidding
ReplyDeleteHe was able to affect/change some peoples' actions and beliefs.
ReplyDeleteMiss Linda please you don't have to be a good person to be influential. Adolf Hitler influenced the world we are in today. So many bad people influenced the world negatively. Mr Shekau is one of such people. I don't see people complaining when they see Beyoncé on such lists. What is she influencing please ?
ReplyDeleteI still don't believe what I just read....I need to grab my reading glasses #WTF is this?
ReplyDeleteWtf,this must be a serious joke
ReplyDeleteJOKERS NONSENSE
ReplyDeleteGod dey...he will soon captured in Jesus Name Amen
ReplyDeleteU.S. is just looking for a way to get into Nigeria by all means by we won't accept them. Nigeria's problem is Nigeria's problem and we would sort these bastards called Boko haram out soonest. Amen.
ReplyDeleteI just wish Jonathan had been really decisive from the beginning, these bastards won't have come this far.
God Bless Nigeria.
Most influential doesn't mean it's got to be for something positive. The name shekau rings more Bells in the world today because of the havoc he's wrecked in Niger, Cameron, and Nigeria. Don't forget he's only in his 30s and he's got tens of thousands of followers already... Yes followers who are ready to die for him. How many libers here can die for linda Ikeji?
ReplyDeleteHahaha to think that buhari made that list too
ReplyDeleteThis is madness!...even Osama try to make that list e no make am
ReplyDeleteLinda ikeji read n understand. Quit asking unecessary questions.

ReplyDeleteNonsense! I choose to use the word 'influential' as a positive thing, don't be calling no terrorist influential!!!!!!! rubbish
ReplyDeleteCan u imagine!
ReplyDeleteBut I think this is craziness, Why shd The Time include is name? Are they encouraging him?
ReplyDeleteSome shallow minded person can decide to go on a killing spree like this to be influencial.
I mean media people sef.
Not surprised at all. Devil himself is popular buh for bad reasons. He ll soon become history eventually, that I know definitely.
ReplyDeleteUbanagum
They should have categorized the names under "the good influence" "the bad infleunce" and "the worst influence". Then we will know where shekau and kik k will fall into.
ReplyDeletehe'll be there feeling cool with himself now, they just robbed his ego, we have read about assassins and murderers with deep backgrounds in America and Europe , I don't remember anyone calling them influential.. Peeps are beginning to take the piss with this Boko Haram thing and its not cool, neither is it funny
ReplyDeletewhat are they trying to encourage???? i think Shekau's name should be removed from this list.
ReplyDeletehe shouldn't be given this much importance.
It shows clearly the elements behind the activities of this miscreant and his goons. Please y'all should read the Confessions Of An Economic Hitman by John Perkins.
ReplyDeleteNo suprise! Buhari and Shekau making TIME 100 most influential people list at the same time. hmmmm,Lip sealed. Nigeria more revelation coming soon.
ReplyDeleteand you wonder why violence and terrorism are on the rise when the west glorify evil.
ReplyDeleteInfluential?? Lindaaaaaaaa
ReplyDeleteBin Laden made this list some years back. But he is influential. Isn't he? Nobody is applauding him or anything. Just drawing attention to the influence he wheilds.

ReplyDeleteINFLUENCE: can be -ve or +ve

ReplyDeleteLinda, influence can be positive or negative. The terrorists are gaining a lot of ground brainwashing people to fight for an "unjust" cause. He is definitely influential in the negative sense let's just pray that we can come up with a counter ideology that would prevent people from being used to pepetrate evil and crimes against humanity
ReplyDeleteI wonder if TIME put Osama Bin Laden as an influential person after 9/11??
ReplyDeleteGod punish devil!
they have officially given him an ovation for killing people. May God have mercy

ReplyDeleteWTF!!!! So this is how they have planned to help Nigeria combat terrorism by making a celebrity out of this demon? This war is far from over
ReplyDeleteSometimes i think dese western countries derive pleasure frm all d calamities befalling africa
DeleteLinda don't be daft. Do u even understand what the word "influential" means? Go and read a book.
ReplyDeleteShatapp!! Aren't they encouraging him with this. Ds will def make him happy n put in more effort in hs terrorist acts. Dats hw they gav dm idea of acquinting wit isis

ReplyDeleteget to recognise him wherever he is.
Why in the world is he on that list? It seems like he is being celebrated in my opinion
ReplyDeleteWtf...smh
ReplyDeleteAn influcer might not neccesarilly be possitive. He has indeed influenced my life. I can't travel to abuja or beyound to upper north without thinking about shekau or his dreaded group. I was born and grew up and studied in Jos. But I can't go near the city cos of shekau.
ReplyDeleteAny man that can mastermind the death of thousands is definitely influential! Linda it didn't say positive or negative influence! Go back to school!
ReplyDeleteThis list is tainted with blood of the innocent. The list lacks merit.
ReplyDeleteHmmmmmm.
ReplyDeleteWas Osama on this list too?
ReplyDeleteLinda, yes he is a killer but an influential leader of his people. So he should be n the list
ReplyDeleteDis is d display of foolishness, and studipity@d highest level. Dis is 101% unacceptable, and must b rejected by all.

ReplyDeletehttp://dobzifingers.blogspot.com/?m=1
Positively or Negatively, your influence counts, it has been like that with Time Magazine. Worse people have made the list in the past. Read why he was chosen, nobody wants to be recognized for such reasons.
ReplyDeleteIS LIKE WE FORGET US IS TERROR,THAT,S WHY THEY SUPPORT TERROR,CHECK AROUND D GLOBE
ReplyDeleteLINDA THIS IS A WRONG POST EVEN IF THEY DO YOU DONT VE TO ELEVATE EVIL USE UR HEAD
ReplyDeleteThe Times and the US are very silly. ...Osama bin Laden is also the greatest hero the world has ever got. Nonsense!
ReplyDeleteBig shame on Time magazine! So now about infamous pple.
ReplyDeleteSo I can blow my way to the list?
Nigeria una don see something to protest about una no go talk now
ReplyDeletewhere una yeye hastag
Absolutely!!!! You've said it all.........from the Response I'm seeing, a lot of people will fail Jamb if this topic was put as a Question.
ReplyDeleteInfluence is Influence. We must not always denote it with the Positive effects.
Actions of Shekau have affected us in several ways. Ask any LIB reader and those ranting now if they would spend their Vacations in Borno???. And you'd get responses Like "I Reject it". "God forbid"............... Has Shekau not influenced ur Judgement when it comes to your safety???? ......... INFLUENCE is the keyword here, NOT the Kind of Influence.
Didn't he influence the death of more than a 100 thousand of Nigerian citizens?
ReplyDeleteI have always maintained that the African continent and specifically Nigeria will experience tremendous peace and economic growth if we restraint ourselves from this crazy western people. How can a man like Abubakar make the list of most influential people? Most of the economies or countries in the west sponsor terrorist group to destabilize such countries they have interest in their natural resources to allow them siphoned their resources. As the counties' indigenes fight themselves, their western sympathizers plays a double edge sword by given the terrorist ammunition while telling the govt that they are supporting them in the fight. After world II which brought two major cities of Japan to ashes, Japan closed their borders and depended on only home made item having little to do with foreign economies like US and Britain who were their major reason of downfall. But today America and Britain go to Japan for goods and services. This inclusion of Abubakar in the list of most influential people in the world should spell it clear that Boko Haram have strong western backing. Those reasons or points they for their including his name are so demeaning for such recognition for a man known for his serial killing. I weep for Africa continent and especially Nigeria, So sad for Africa...
ReplyDeleteHe made people kill an die for a course... If that's not influence then what is it
ReplyDeleteWonders shall never end.
ReplyDeleteHonestly this is very ridiculous. Time magazine BIG SHAME ON YOU!
