Kylie Jenner slammed by black twitter after releasing 'blackface' pics

Kylie Jenner released the pictures (above) from a photoshoot she recently did and said she wished she looked like the images taken. Black Twitter went after her accusing her of taking part in 'blackface' which is considered an insult. But is there anything wrong with these pictures? Aren't blacks overreaching with this? Kylie Kenner has since taken to twitter to clarify. See more photos and her tweets after the cut..

    Of course LIB voltrons will agree with you, Linda, and say, as usual, it's an overreaction. The historical context is in the US, blackface minstrelsies were used in comedy shows whose central theme was "blacks are stupid!" It took the civil rights movement to stamp them out. Blacks don't want to be reminded of those bygone days of being ridiculed for comedy's sake.

    Now to the modern day. If you're a person of color in the US, your life is affected by race no matter how much you want to ignore it. You go through a lot of crap because of it from negative perceptions about your hair to mistreatment by police. As a result, your color becomes personal.

    To see this silly privileged Jenner girl act as if being black is the same as applying paint to skin mocks again when it's far more complicated. Being black in America is more nuanced than skin tone. That's why black Twitter finds the pics offensive.
