Jimi Agbaje's Closing Statement

A closing statement from PDP Gubernatorial candidate, Jimi Agbaje...
To the good people of Lagos: As today winds down and our campaign officially comes to a close, let me be the first to thank each and everyone of you for your prayers, support and well-wishes throughout the course of this campaign.
A little over 3-months ago, I set out on a bold journey to CHANGE how government works not just for a few elites but for ordinary people.
It was clear from the beginning that I would face a formidable adversary in the APC - an incumbent party with a political machinery built and honed over the last 16-years. But I understood that as a candidate if I presented my case with the utmost level integrity; if I spoke from the heart about the challenges and the opportunities that we face as a state, the people will in return respond. I knew if I anchored my vision on the very values that shaped me as a young man as well as the principles of empathy, hard work and integrity that have guided me in life, Lagosians will come out of every nook and cranny of this vibrant state to support my candidacy.

Today, each and everyone of you have made this campaign what it is. With your voice, you have created a new narrative in our local politics. A narrative where ideas matter and ordinary people do have a say in future of our state. Because you chose to participate, we've been able to challenge the status-quo. Because you chose not to settle for nothing other than the best, our impending victory is in clear sight.

Lagos, this is our time to rewrite history. This is our moment of CHANGE. But we must have the courage to press on to the very end. From tomorrow, I encourage each and everyone of you to reach out to your friends, families and neighbours and make sure they all come out to VOTE. And as you vote, let's ensure that we're orderly, peaceful and vigilant. Come Saturday, April 11, let's make it clear to the establishment that we're sick and tired of corruption and the undue influence of vested interests in our state.
After tonight my online and social media handles will go quiet in respect for INECs campaign rules and guidelines. For me, it has been the greatest honour of my political life to have run in this race. With your support, I look forward to the privilege of serving as your Governor.
Once again, I thank you. ‪#‎Lagosforyou ‪#‎LagosforAll

    2. For #Change to work in the country in peace and progress, then it must not be a partial change..the people who condemned GEJ even tho it was a conspiracy, they hv failed to say d same in d case of Lagos state..where gos fatherism is at its peak..a govt with god father ish will always hv limited Descisions..the people think Lagos of now is d heaven..they don't see d bigger pic that it can be a lot better with d revenue generated internally from d state...in d case of both candidates, one is a follower while the other is a Leader...must Tinubu be the Governor a third time ? Vote JIMI AGBAJE for change...the only way to correct d Oba of Lagos is to shame him..yet Some LIBers hv come to exonerate and defend him theirselves...speak d truth always..act it too..forget about APC or PDP..this is Change...let us hv an independent govt..pls

    4. Na grammar we wan chop! Joor we need someone with experience and that is progressive not friends to criminals and Omo Ita like bode George koro and fayose. Ambo knows lagos very well. JK is an elitist that hasn't really grown or managed anything. He even refused to pay taxes when millions of lagosians struggle to pay their share. JK we are not voting for you. Money cannot buy you everything. Ambode is like you and I people; he is from a humble background and he struggled like us daily to get to where he is. Ambode is also a very smart accountant. JK has not proven himself anywhere, just running every 4 yrs so he can chop money. Ambode is the people's Man!!! Ambode for us lagosians. He is part of us and he loves us. JK sent OPC to cause wahala and kill lagosians. JK doesn't love you, he just wants to be governor at all cost, that is all that matters to him. Come out to vote people, this time come out in masses. Please use your head to vote! We want someone who is prepared, tested and proven. Ambode ni Tiwa!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Nice one Sir but i don’t think you will win. The forces marshalling against you are too much. One, your party has crashed out of the presidential & national assembly elections. you were banking on federal support at least. But now, PDP is still mourning & instead of the remaining PDP governors to move their full machinery to Lagos, they are busy in Aso Rock deceiving Jonathan i.e Akpabio & the rest capturing states with mouth. If Jonathan had won, it would have been a very massive boost to your ambition because everything will swing in your favour. Jonathan will practically come down to Lagos to campaign again for you but now, who will listen to a defeated president? Even Dame Patience who was in Lagos to campaign for you, do you think she will still go there to campaign for JK when her own husband has just been 'uppercutted'? Even Gani Adams is already shifting towards Buhari. And many more will decamp to Ambode's side.

Jimi you are 58 years old now, if you misses this chance, that is the end. you may not want to contest at 63 again, Jonathan is 57, Tinubu just turned 63 & you can imagine Tinubu just running for Lagos governorship now, so this is most likely your last toss of the coin.

And I had the opportunity to listen to BRF's closing statement(only that APC fall my hand, na Ambode surpose talk bcos na him dey contest) but that fact still remain that JK I will only Vote for u, if u can answer all. The questions BRF asked. I can see a new Lasgidi in front of me, with APC @ the Top all Lagos state outstanding will surely be paid and if it does not get missing, we shall see the impact. God. Bless Nigeria and God Bless us All.

  66. Jimi you surpass my expectation in 2007 with DPA and everybody wish you well despite you loss but now with PDP............ that where you the failure begin, Good man in wrong party. I would have cast my vote for you but if I remember your co PDP like Obanikoro, Bode George, FFK, Fayose, Omisore, Ebele Jonathan who are all clueless my heart beat and I cant afford to entrust my belove Lagos in these folks hand. Dont worry you will get compensation as Action Governor (Fashola) did for you.

  67. What a remarkable individual. You, I and Fashola know this man called Jimi Agbaje is right for the job. I wish you all the best Sir. God bless Lagos. God Bless Nigeria

  68. This man keeps dividing lagos with his tribal sentiments all in the name of winning an election. Jimi Agbaje or Just Kidding or whatever you cal yourself. U are a disgrace to Yoruba and Indigents of lagos. You are selling your people all in the name of winning elections. You've always been a desperate man, we know how you've always wanted to rule lagos state but I'm surprised you can descend so low to using Oba's statements as an advantage for your campaign. Your doom is near you traitor. You have nothing in your manifesto other than criticising the Oba and Tinubu. I hope they have a house in Anambra, Imo, Abia, Ebonyi or Enugu to live in after your defeat on saturday...JK the Traitor

  69. It is sad that we are all shouting change...JK we know or AMBODE. The truth is how well do you know them? Do you know their TRACK RECORDS? Do you think LAGOS should be an experimental field or an experience field? Experimental object is either negative or positive in terms of results but how long period would it take? But experience on the field or on the job bring about professionalism and excellence. Now,we need to understand that the present administration had labor hard to bring us these far and there are other programs in their pipeline yet to be unveil. It is time you VOTE for value and not articulation but experience that count and not by facial expression and by not selling out your vote due to tribalism, political hatred, family background, religion, or geographical location or differences. For Information about AKINWUNMI AMBODE get THURSDAY PUNCH NEWSPAPER and read the frontpage and other pages. SATURDAY APRIL 11 VOTE AKINWUNMI AMBODE...VOTE APC...VOTE FOR VALUE...VOTE FOR EXPERIENCE NOT EXPERIMENT.

  71. Please as you make up ur minds tomorrow for the lagos state governorship elections please do remember that Jimi Agbajes chief campaigner Chris Ubah in cohort with his evil brother Andy were the ones that kidnapped a seating governor Chris Ngige and prevented him from running his office for a week. Please let us good people of lagos come together to resist these kind of dirty men and their dirty trade from hijacking governance in Lagos state. These men will kidnap agbaje himself if he refuses to do their bidding. We don't want dirty political rascality in lagos state, we want men of integrity vote a tested and trusted man Ambode vote APC.

Is it the roadside thugs ,bad roads ,excess taxation ,aristocracy and the likes? ... And you will see the Yoruba youth doing follow-follow to people who only need them at times such as this... So not cool

  84. Anyone in his right sense should know that Jimi is a better candidate...But some of you fools are completely blinded by sentiments of voting for a party instead of the candidates especially now that it favours APC being that the president-elect is a member ...Anyways am rooting for JK , He's a sound man and clearly, Ambode can't even match him intellectually. ...Plus Ambode will be Tinubu 's Puppet if he wins and that already says how weak of a leader He 'll be.

  85. JK to you is more matured, it's that all what it entails to be a Governor and moreover when we you all stop all this your oba's issues........ Lagos is a big state which we need continuity, we can't just let anybody to come and pure sand in our garri......... as for me am voting Ambode and voting Apc.... vote for continuity, itesiwaju Eko oje mi logun....... shikena.

  87. I feel jimi is a good man and will try to make Lagos a better place, but we can't vote him because he is in the wrong party. They will manipulate him just as pdp manipulated GEJ. People voted for GEJ in 2011 but, he had bad advisers that is why he could not peform, and so people voted him out. I feel it will be the same under jimi, so I will advise he leaves pdp and chill for 8 years under apc, I feel he will emerge as their candidate after ambode has used 8years.. Good luck to him tho. Ambode for Lagos, continuity is what we want in Lagos. God bless Lagos, God bless Nigeria.

Rememba we asked for change of presidency cos GEJ fell below xpectatn. BRF has done well in lagos xcept we want to deny d obvious and a change in lagos means goin bak to square one. Jimi Agbaje mite mean well as a person but he can't do it alone cos he has desperate, greedy and wicked godfathers dat have invested in his campaign and will suck lagos dry. PDP wants to hold on to Lag by force so dat dey can have sometin to suck on. God will not let dis happen!!!

  95. Speaking well is not ghe issue but looking at the substance, his manifesto, plan for Lagos. Here are a few:
    1. Part of his so called change is to demolish the Lekki toll gate without an alternative or what he plans to have as a replacement. So back to traffic jams, all in the name of seeking popularity. Does he know the amount he would have wasted if he does pull the toll gate down.
    2. His tribalistic campaign as with PDP at the presidential level is very incomfortable, promising to make an igbo man the oba of Lagos. And to think this is a Yoruba man. Hes desperation and thirst for power holds no bound. Would and SS or SE aspiring Governor be willing go impose a Yoruba man as an IGWE if they were to win?
    3. People are saying Ambode is controlled by Tinubu what about Mr Jimmy himself who has Jonathan, Bode George, Omisore all lurking in the background.
    4. We havent heard how he intends to fix Lagos other than his utterances that Lagos is under a cabal and runs a corruptible govt. What are your plans regarding housing, schools and university, employment, investment, pollution in lagos. So many questions not answered by Mr Jimmy.

  100. If APC wins, lots of funds will be pumped into Lagos Economy and all tribes residing in Lagos will enjoy it, businesses will boom, but if PDP wins...they are a party withering away, Lagos would be their final hope of looting money and then they'll die of completely in 4 years and every tribe would start to complain bitterly on decaying infrastructure and lack of so many amenities..Don't be surprised that Bode george has bribed the Oba with Billions of Naira to make that statement when given the chance about igbos and used the PR to fuel tensions. This is the time we have all been waiting for, to have the full support of the federal govt. Don't vote on sentiments, vote for a better future for Lagos. PDP is the past. I'll rather rather vote for APGA or not vote at all. PDP is a dead party.

  101. All Saying JK we know, tell me,how well do u know him? Don't just pout their slogan,he's got nothing to offer Lagosian as far as basic amenities n social infrastructure is concern. We need more than mere words n deceptive look to run things in Lagos state. Fashola has undoubtedly carved a niche for himself in d hall of history,it clearly shows what Ambode would build on. I support conyinuity,i support Ambode...APC
