Empire overtakes the Big Bang Theory as US broadcast TV's no.1 series

Before Empire came on TV, the Big Bang Theory on CBS was the top rated series on broadcast television in the US. Well, not anymore. That title now belongs to Empire on Fox.

According to the final data released this week, Empire, starring Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard, surpassed The Big Bang Theory as broadcast television's no.1 series this season in the coveted 18 - 49 advertising demo.

Amazing stuff! Mostly black actors and produced by a black man, Lee Daniels. Kudos to them!

    Wow! I'm a huge fan of big bang theory started downloading the first episode of empire! But on another note I feel this is premature, big bang has held it down for over 8 seasons, this is empire's first...... well lemme start and see what d deal with it is.....

      Nomski you have to watch the series till the end to understand why it took the spot from Bazinga.. Empire is just d ish.. A series that stopped movement 4 an hour every Wednesday cos one just couldn't miss it, a series that had America Idol move their show cos of its finale.. It just had to take the spot from Big Ban theory..

    This show is so useless. I don't know how this is deemed quality tv. The characters are so shallow and there is no character build up. Apart from taraji and terrence, the rest of the cast are amateurs and the acting is extremely forced. You can literally see them trying not to smile or look at the camera. The story is baseless and leaves nothing to the imagination. There was no evidence of interactions btwn taraji and Malcolm, then all of a sudden he professes this love for her, spends a weekend with her then begs her to go away with him....How nice. They repeat the same arguments over and over to the point where u can figure out what they say next. Oh and that detective was realllllyyy smart to listen to a drunk homeless man rattle out a poem about a lion and automatically figure out that it was lucious. .oh my. I will not continue watching. I know everyone will be quick to bash me but this is my two cents and anyone who has watched and who appreciates quality tv will know why i am so pissed off that this garbage is being passed off as great tv.

      Oh darl, that's your opinion though. I'm quite sure if u r asked to list out quality tv series, you'll mention one tree hill. FYI all of the cast except Porscha are professionals. Jamal (Jussies Smolliett) recently got signed up by Colombia records to release an album, plus big artist like Kanye want to work with him. There was nothing I saw wrong in their acting, except Symone who looked pathetic in her acting.

    Anyone who follows tv would know that black tv series on white networks rarely live more than a couple of seasons. To be number one and push a huge show like BBT of that spot is simply amazing. I hope it lasts for many more years.

    I think the creators of empire should thank wendy Williams for the publicity she gave the series. I'm quite happy for taraji cos I'm a big fan of hers.and its good that lots of Americans both white and black are watching the show.and now the nobody's complaining cos its a black movie but if it were to be the other way round they'll be crying like babies.

    So many good scenes especially the musicals. Drip drop drippitypity drop🎶🎵🎤. Empire S01 E08 32.10 has been on replay. Can't get over Jamal's revelation on his version of "You're Beautiful". And his song with delphine, with the other 3 at the club and then E12, he beat down on black rainbow. Love love love him. He's cuteness overdose. And Cookie Lyon is my fave girl, she and Porscha are hilarious. I love the part where she went for Lucious' engagement dinner and flipped out on them. Lol. Her mouth na razor blade. Empire and game of thrones are my favourite series.
