Court stops AIT, NTA from airing documentaries against Osinbajo

A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has stopped the management of AIT and NTA from airing any damaging documentary on the Vice Presidential Candidate of the APC, Prof Yemi Osinbajo. Prof Osinbajo had on March 10th filed a motion seeking an order restraining the TV stations under the control of NBC from a violation of his 'right to dignity. right to privacy, and right to life'.

Delivering his ruling on the suit, Justice John Tsoho ordered the broadcasting companies to maintain the status quo pending the hearing and determination of the applicant’s motion on notice for interlocutory injunction. NBC was also joined as respondents in the suit. The matter has been adjourned to March 13th for further hearing.

    1. What is the justice in that. Its either the documentary is factual or baseless. Journalism has ethics which includes verification before broadcast. The Court hasnt stopped the airing. they only asked them to stay action. I have always asked that we dig deeper about the people we push forward. so this Osinbajo too has skeletons?

  29. Are these documentaries the equivalent of sex tapes for these politicians? Every candidate has one and getting injunctions to stop them. In the name of freedom of speech, shouldn't these docs be seen and judged by the public on their merit? The suppression can't be good for the political discourse.

THIS IS CERTAINLY A TURN AROUND TO THE LEGAL SYSTEM IN NIGERIA. WHAT IS OSINBAJO HIDDEN FROM. IF WHAT THE NETWORKS ARE BROADCASTING ARE FALSE, SIMPLE HE SHOULD SUE THEM FOR FALSE PRESENTATION WITH EVIDENCE OTHERWISE THIS IS JUST AN ATTEMPT TO STIFLING & GAGGING THE MEDIA. THE TRUTH WILL SURELY COME TO THE OPEN NO MATTER WHAT THEY SAY.

  53. This is what i don't get. Why is it okay for PDP to air damaging documentary about Tinubu, Osinbajo and other APC goons but when APC wants to do same, it becomes an issue. And then PDP complains about lack of debate, are these not the same media houses that will conduct said debate? How will the debate be neutral when our journalists and media aren't neutral.
