Ibidun Ighodalo's ex sister-in-law cries out, claims her ex-husband (Ibidun's brother) has refused to give her back her children

Friends of Lamide Agunloye (pictured above with her 3 boys), who was once married to Dare Ajayi, former beauty queen Ibidun Ighodalo's brother reached out to me to share a statement with the public about how her three children were allegedly taken from her by her estranged husband. Lamide's spokesperson released a statement today (with photos) detailing what's going on. Read below...
We live in a country supposedly governed by the rule of law, a country where a court order should trump the bidding of anybody, but that only seems to apply to the common man. Why else would a mother be crying for justice over three years after her three biological children were abducted by known persons? This is Lamide Agunloye’s story.
In 2012, after a year of separation from her ex-husband, Dare Ajayi – during which she had been in custody of and solely responsible for the welfare of their sons – Lamide’s sons were taken from her Abuja home forcefully after Dare Ajayi is said to have jumped the fence, broken the door and beaten up the house maid.

Efforts to gain relief from police intervention were frustrated as the Police tagged it a domestic issue. The children were taken to the home of popular Lagos pastor Ituah Ighodalo, whose wife and businesswoman Ibidun Ighodalo is sister to Dare Ajayi. What should have been a simple case of a man of God and his wife doing what is right by returning the children to their legal guardian has turned out to be a deliberately orchestrated nightmare for Lamide Agunloye.

The lady and her brothers were beaten up by the Ighodalo's security agents, at Dare's instance, when they attempted to sort it out as a family issue. The Ighodalos are no doubt a power couple, with Ibidun running a successful events management company and her husband heading a Redeemed Christian Church of God congregation that is filled with many rich and powerful individuals.

When the news first broke, many expressed doubt that a man of God and his wife would go against the law, and they urged Lamide to go to court. Over a year later, with a court judgment (FAM/25y/14) determining that Dare indeed kidnapped the children, awarding Lamide legal physical custody of all three children and granting Dare visitation rights every other weekend, Lamide has remained unable to gain actual physical custody of her children.

Her children have remained in the forced and illegal custody of the Ighodalos who, rather than obey the court judgment dated March 5, 2015 have gone ahead to subvert the course of justice. They have continued to deny Lamide access to her children. Primarily aided by Asue Ighodalo, brother to Pastor Ituah and Founder/Managing Partner of one of Nigeria’s foremost law firms, Banwo and Ighodalo, the Ighodalo family is basking in the illegality of their actions without remorse.

In the face of the court order, they have taken to boasting about their clout, claiming to know the Chief Justice of the State amongst other influential people – they have made it clear that they have no intention of obeying court orders. Yet thousands sit in their church, not critical of the example that the leaders of the flock are laying.

They remain quiet in the face of the injustice that has seen a mother denied access to her children, an injustice being perpetuated by a so-called man of God and his wife. What hope is there when the very people who should be defenders of the law are the law breakers? What hope is there for parents when extended family members can willy-nilly snatch children and hold them for years because they are amongst society's rich and powerful?

What respite do parents have when institutions that should be instilling morality and order are aiding and abetting lawlessness as did Mrs. Durand, the proprietress of Greenwood School, Ikoyi? When Court Officers and Lamide Agunloye, with a court judgment in her favor, approached the school in which her sons are currently enrolled by the Ighodalos, instead of allowing them entrance and access to the children who were in school at the time, Mrs. Durand joined the charade by denying them entrance and spiriting the children to Asue Ighodalo who arrived at the school with armed police officers.

After Lamide's attempt to enforce judgment, the Ighodalos hurriedly filed an appeal before a Lagos High Court, asking for a stay of execution. It is nothing short of appalling that Dare Ajayi, Pastor Ituah and Ibidun Ighodalo, Asue Ighodalo, Mrs. Durand and so many others who should know better are being allowed to get away with several crimes.

When Lamide left her husband after his violent antics which included an attempt at drowning her and flinging her kids across the room, it was because she feared for her safety and that of her children. A court, considering the merits of the situation, deemed it fit to grant her sole custody to the children. It is thus very worrisome that it is this same violent father who, through his sister and her husband, still has access to the children, whereas Lamide remains subjected to the intimidation tactics of the Ighodalo and her ex-husband.

She is left with nothing but videos from three heavily supervised visits in three years with three young impressionable sons who are being fed misleading information to believe their mother left them. In a country where the rule of law truly prevails, the Ighodalos and Dare Ajayi would be behind bars for kidnapping three children and for obstructing justice.

In a country where the rule of law prevails, Olamide Agunloye’s story would have a happy ending.

Olamide Agunloye's statement below...

He cannot say anything bad about Olamide as a wife or a mother to anyone who knew him well before he kidnapped the boys. Dare has burned all his bridges. Everyone. The only people he can fool with the stories he has been spreading about Olamide and her family are lies. Lies. Lies. And may God forgive him because you do not stand in front of your inlaws and curse them. Which Dare did. Dare is not well. He is suffering from narcissistic personality disorder. He is merely using those children to punish Olamide. The future will tell and when Dare starts to reap he wont know what hit him. As for all the people that are standing by him without knowing the truth, be very careful. Be very careful. Justice will prevail and we shall all reap as we have sown. Without a doubt

    1. What could the fire be to justify taking away kids from their biological mother. Can you please tell me. Not even to grant access. You are clearly not a mother to say sth like this cos if you were I am sure you yourself are not a saint and that doesn't mean that a husband who had battered you consistently for so long should deprive you of your kids

      Delete
  16. There are 2 or more sides to every story. I wish her and her kids the best but I wonder what benefit the kids will derive from being pulled out of school and probably out of Lagos mid term because of their parents. At least, let them complete a term. Now that the whole world knows what school they were enrolled at, does it make them any safer? The least one could do is try to allow the kids have a semi normal life. Imagine how the kids will feel on Monday morning if they make it to school and either paparazzi are there or their mates are asking them questions cos the parents of all their classmates have updated them. I dunno what or who is right but I feel, the children's faces and school should have been left out of this sharade. Just saying.....

    4. You shouldn't judge what you dont know. What reason in the whole world justifies denying a woman access to her children. Absolutely nothing. They need to obey the justice system and return her kids to her. Also do you not think that all the facts were presented in court? Dare and his family must have cited all their ridiculous reasons why this woman is unfit. Despite all that the judge granted her custody. Why not return the kids. If the said pastor and his wife were sensible they would stay out of this and not get involved especially because they are not parents and never has been. As a mother myself, I can say that if you haven't been there and done that you do not have an opinion on the parenting skills of another parent. Bcos you just dont know. You also cannot be praying for children and at the same time deprive another woman access to her kids. Instead they should seek help for their very sick brother who is obviously mentally unstable and irrational. I know him and I have seen him in action many times.

      Delete
    5. You say this because you don't know Dare. Those kids shouldn't be left with him even for one more day. What kind of a father tells his young children that their mother is a prostitute? Even if it is true. No sensible parent will turn a child against the other parent no matter what beef they have with each other. All couples fight. It is very sick of him to do such. He needs to move on. He has been saying the same things about lamide everyday for the past 4 years. He is clearly obsessed with her. This is just crazy

      Delete
    6. The kids will rather be with dare .....lol did they tell you that. Gosh read between the lines....are they really with dare? It's a joint custody judgement what is the power tussle for ....If not that there is more to it.

Ibidun Ighodalo, you want to be a joyful mother abi? and you, your husband and the rest supported your brother in this ungodly, wicked act, making a mother sorrowful, denying her the joy and fulfillment of complete woman? Do the right thing, and release her children for her, there's no need to prove anything here we know you are rich and powerful. if not, remember God owns everyone and everything......If God can bring down Goliath and his armies, you and your entire cabinet are little. God is not on vacation; He is still in the business of taking vengeance.

  58. Linda, thank you for posting this. This is what women in Nigeria suffer. Is the mother of these children a drug addict, is she a drunk, does she have an illness that makes her not capable of caring for her sons??? If the answer is no, this woman should have primary custody of her kids. The law in Nigeria is so skewed. The children are not even living with their father but with Pastor Ighodalo and his wife, Pastor Ighodalo should go and look for children to adopt or have someone have kids for them instead of them commiting this crime.

  62. Even if there are two sides to the story, the point is he's disobeying the court order and breaking the law by kidnapping the kids. She can be a great mother too if given the chance to be a mother to her children. Because the law is on her side, he's in the wrong and should give the children back. The kids aren't bargaining chips. They should be raised by both parents despite the divorce. He forfeits his parental rights by breaking the law to have sole access to them.

  63. Number one, please note that Pstr Itua is not a RCCG pastor.

Number two, it is a pity that this kind of a thing is happening and the faces of the children are involved are on display. Am a mother and I cannot imagine staying one 1 day without my children talk-less of one year without access to them. Please let right organization should rise up to defend this woman. No matter what might have happened between the husband and wife, the children should not be allowed to suffer.

You praying to God to help you get your children and yet you can forgive in your heart. If the husband wants to keep the children fine they are his too as long as he can take good care of them why not. On what basis would a father kidnap his own 3 children & the wife gets beaten up????people we should think furthermore why would ituah & ibidun allow children with a living mother who is financially able (shes iconola with stores in lekki & abuja) take abode in their residence to the extent of beating up & locking up the mother & her siblings. Again ask yourself as the pastor/general overseer of a church is your moral duties to alienate families or try to keep families. I was in court on monday for a case & i saw the charadenits only in nigeria that a father will kidnap children and still brag about it in court. We should think deep that the very corruption of moral in this country. some people will write different things but in this digital age the children will have access to all the drama later in life...is it fair on them>. i think both parents & their families should sit and resolve this if not for anything but for the children

No matter what kids belong with their mother,i do not care what you people claim this mother did, because next thing they will say she was unfaithful in her marriage. These people, including the father have no right to take them away, they have a living mother, please go and adopt your own kids and do not adopt kids that have a living capable mother. we do not care what she did and did not do. Just rmbr that a mother's love is different from Aunty and uncle Love. No matter what kids will always go looking from their mother. A court has granted the mother custody, they must deem are fit. Please release her kids and stop making this mother weep.

ON THIS ISSUE, I WILL NOT TAKE SIDES BUT AS LONG AS THE MOTHER IS NOT IN ANYWAY INFLICTING PAIN ON HER CHILDREN (PHYSICALLY AND EMOTIONALLY), NO FAMILY, RELATIVE HAVE THE RIGHT TO TAKE THOSE CHILDREN. IBIDUN SHOULD NOT ENCOURAGE HER BROTHER WHEN HE IS GOING THE WRONG DIRECTION IN THE NAME OF ''HE IS MY FAMILY''. FAMILIES SHOULD STOP USING SENTIMENTS TO CARRY OUT ACTIONS. ALOT OF US THESE DAYS DONT EVEN KNOW RIGHT FROM WRONG YET WE CALL JESUS, GOD EVERYDAY. YET WE PRAY AND ASK GOD TO ANSWER OUR PRAYERS. THE THINGS WE DO AND CALL LITTLE ARE THOSE THINGS THAT HINDER OUR BREAKTHROUGH. IF THESE TWO FAMILIES CANNOT SIT LIKE ONE TO DISCUSS (MEANWHILE THEY ALL SAT DURING THE WEDDING OF THIS EX COUPLE O) THEN SHAME TO THEM. BRINGING THIS SITUATION TO THE PUBLIC TO ADDRESS IS A BIG SHAME. INVOLVING TUGS TO BEAT AND BE BEATEN IS A SHAME AND GOD WILL NEVER CONDONE THIS TYPE OF ACT NO MATTER WHAT. SIT LIKE A FAMILY, DISCUSSES THE ISSUES ON GROUND REMEMBERING THERE ARE KIDS INVOLVED. THEY CAN ATTEND THE BEST SCHOOLS BUT NOTHING LIKE THE LOVE OF A MOTHER WHO TRULY AND GENUINELY CARES FOR THEM. AS FOR THE HUSBAND BEATER, WHO WOULD GRAB HIS KIDS WITHOUT THE KNOWLEDGE OF THEIR MOTHER, I PRAY FOR YOU. I PRAY FOR ALL OF YOU INVOLVED IN THIS CASE AND I PRAY GOD WILL GRANT ALL OF YOU ''PEACE OF MIND'' SO YOU CAN THINK THE WAY A REASONABLE AND FAIR MAN WOULD.

  79. This is obviously not the whole story and my instincts tell me she is economical with the truth. Banwo and Ighodalo is a respected law firm and I believe they will uphold the law. She also said all she had were videos of three heavily supervised visits, so she was allowed supervised visits, by who? There was no need whatsoever to bring the school and the proprietress of the school into this, that was uncalled for. If she was not allowed to see or collect the children and the school called the lawyer, it would have been for a good reason. This is not the way for her to go about a resolution. We look forward to hearing the truth about this matter.

  90. Two sides to a story my left foot. No woman on earth should stay where she will die. If the judgement is given, they should release her kids to her and do what is right by ensuring the children still get the best, that is if they really intend to help. If Dare was responsible, why are they children trained by his wife's brother - the pastor. Men should at least learn to be men. Most of them do not understand what is means to be a father. Look at those beautiful boys... Please Linda escalate this so authorities can get help her. This is what you see from the so-called rich and mighty. People should also fear God in all honesty.

It's easy for him to say she abandoned them...she ran for her life do you know how much years of abuse can do to you...it breaks you down and kills your self esteem where do you even get the energy to fight when you have been spat on raped abused denied human dignity. She has woken up from your wickedness and social intimidation and it's time to fight . The date or timeliness of the fight is irrelevant now she is ready and the judge agrees give her a chance. PERIOD. We all fight in different ways. 95. 1. The lady Olamide has a reputable fashion house with branches in Lagos and Abuja, so the people who say is financially unstable do not know better.
    2. When has a lack of funds stopped a mother from caring for her children? So many women in Nigeria cannot gather5k together daily yet their kids are with them.
    3. If a family law court has ordered the kids to be handed to her then the Ighodalos and her ex husband are thwarting and breaking the law,
    4. It is a fact I as a person am aware of that their was domestic violence in the home of Iconola a few years ago when her ex used to beat her up.
    5. If the ex husband has the financial capacity why then is he leaving his 3 kids with his sister? Probably because he cannot take car of them as he has no job or steady source of income.
    6. Pastor Ituah as a man of God should have waded into the fray and settled the matter not by taking over 3 children that he did not bear. Note thatthe fees in greenwood school Ikoyi range at almost 1million per child per annum. But I doubt this situation should be about who has more money. Kids who go to 50k schools can excel as well as their contemporaries who go to very expensive schools.
    7. Wether or not it is Middle of term is not an issue. Children adapt easily! Give the woman her children please.
    8. I believe any woman seeking the fruit of the womb must show kindness in all areas to children and her fellow women lest God seal her womb permanently.
    9. Ibidun has a huge role to play here. A public figure should not be involved in this kind of controversy. Nigeria is full of ' man knows man' or why will a court order be flouted and nothing is been done about it? A reckless show of power on the part of the Igbhodalos I must say.
What a shame. Did lamide give birth to these kids? Is she their mother? Does she have a right to them? Should there be a constraint because she cannot afford to send them to a school as expensive as the sister in law can afford?has she been granted an order by the court to take her kids? If all answers are yes, then I say ' Rez Ipsa' the facts speak for themselves.
Ibidun be mature act as a mediator, your husband as a man of God and return to Caesars what's his.
Let it not be a case of fighting over another woman's property and she prays to her God to give you your just rewards and you never hear the cry of your own child in life. Do the right thing, mediate, reconcile. May God give you all a solution to the matter.

  105. For those who are asking why Ibidun and her husband are dragged into this, let me clarify:
    • Dare kidnapped the kids like a criminal. He scaled over the fence, beat the housemaid (there is a police report on this) and then escaped with the boys to Lagos. He then took the boys to his sister’s house Ibidun and husband Mr Itua. A true Christian will not aid Dare and will try and intervene or resolve the matter. But rather, Ibidun denied the boys were with them for the first few months. They (Mr and Mrs) didn’t only deny the kids were with them, they also housed the children that were illegally kidnapped. In any given country where there is a sound justice system they would be arrested as accomplices and will also be charged with kidnapping. Dare and kids were living with them and they (Ighogalo’s) became financially responsible for the kids. • Eventually Lamide confirmed that the kids were at the Ighogalo’s and she was only allowed phone access then that stopped, Ibidun stopped picking up her call. Lamide’s family attempted to reach out to Mr Itua but instead of being a peacemaker, he insulted lamide and refused to intervene. Lamide and her siblings attempted to visit the Ighogalo’s residence to see the boys. Indeed they entered and saw the boys briefly until Dare showed his madness. Dare beat and dragged Lamide, and with the aid of Mr Itua’s security men beat everyone of the siblings (3 grown adults) and got the security guys to shoot at them. They ended up at the police station that day where Dare almost got arrested for insulting the DPO. Despite this, there was no apology from Mr Itua or wife for the injustice that happened in his compound.

Ibidun was also a runs girl before she became a pastor's wife. So for her to seat in judgement against another woman is so bad. She should not let people fight for another person's problem and place a curse on her. Every woman who has carried a child in her womb for 9 months knows what it is to deny her access to her kids. If she can afford 50k schools for her children, no problem. Send the difference of the 1m school you are sending them now to their mother to assist in their upkeep.
Dear Ibidun, you cannot fight your brother's battles for him. Return the children to their mum.
Finally, no matter how long you and your brother brainwash them. You cannot be their mother. They will still ask for their mother.

I CERTAINLY KNOW WHAT IS RIGHT AND WHAT IS WRONG !!!

    I AM A WOMAN, I AM A MOTHER.

I UNDERSTAND THE BLISS AND BLISTERS OF BIRTHING A CHILD.

For any reason WHATSOEVER under the sun, A MOTHER SHOULD NEVER BE DEPRIVED THE JOY OF BEING WITH HER CHILDREN ....except she's DEAD and NO MORE.

Didn't the BIBLE admonishes us to RESPECT and OBEY authorities?
Is the COURT OF LAW not an authority to be obeyed?
Are ministers of God excluded from obeying authorities?

I AM A CHRISTIAN with a VERY SOUND MIND. I don't follow pastor says this ... pastor says that ... which is the common norm in our society.

A whole lot of us have been brainwashed to hero-worship these ministers as we have been made to believe that they cannot be questioned or held accountable for anything ... THIS IS WHAT I CALL RELIGIOUS BONDAGE!!!

As ministers, have they tried wading into the matter and finding a lasting solution to it?
Have they not taken sides by NOT OBEYING COURT JUDGEMENT/ORDER?
Have they acted out their common slogan ...W.W.J.D meaning What Would Jesus Do?
Is their CONGREGATION sooooo PURE without blemish and sins?
Do they not have SINGLE MOTHERS in their church?
Why haven't they collected all the CHILDREN of their single mothers because they will be prostitutes and lesbians since they are not married ???
    Mtcheeewwwww ... Oshisko.

There will be A REASON why the court GRANTED OLAMIDE CUSTODY of her boys ..... I want to believe if she is as crazy and irresponsible as she's been painted, the court wouldn't have granted her custody.

Is no one seeing the ABUSIVE part of this story ????
    I HATE ABUSE !!!
    I AM UNASHAMEDLY AND UNREPENTANTLY ANTI-ABUSE !!!

    *DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
    *EMOTIONAL ABUSE

  112. People should not be so quick to judge. I have been in the same situation and did not see or speak to my kids for 6 months. It is any mothers nightmare and pain you cannot wish on an enemy. The man will say every and anything to paint his ex wife as the devil, as did mine. This is in a bid to justify his actions, unless there is evidence that she is a danger to her children, there is no basis for taking her kids away from her. Her actions are for many reasons. I played the fool for months but underneath all that I was planning and making sure I did everything according to the law. I got my judgement and it was still war in retrieving my kids. She has to cry out for help to ensure that her children are not kept away from her any longer.

  113. 114. We Continue to treat pastors and ko like they are Gods that is why people continue to perish. You will be carrying savings account to pastor when you dont even have any.And dont judge the mother, when we live in a lawless country.useless pastors

  115. No, women do not have rights in Nigeria if the law won't enforce the justice system's order giving primary custody to the mother. The police would have done their job, knocked or rammed down the door where the kids are being kept and got them out. In a functioning system, the courts make the rules and the police enforces them when they're broken.

  116. I have never been a fan of kids kept with just one parent and refused access to the other. Very unfair... if this is true

  117. Hi Linda, the way you reporter this story is biased and unprofessional. You only listen to the story of the woman. You did not hear from her ex-husband and the Ighodalo. It seems you have a beef with the Ighodalo's. Try and learn to be professional in your writing

  118. Na wa!!! Issues sha. I feel for the children. Pastor Ituah should have known better. Ibidun should have avoided all this. Being God mother to other lovely kids. They should have encouraged this mess @ all.

  120. There's a strong bond that exist between Mother and child or children as the case may be. It's unexplainable . Right from when the child is in the Mother's womb. No right thinking man that truly loves his children will keep them apart from their Mother. As we celebrate Mother's Day, I pray God give all the parties involved the grace to do that which is right.

  122. Libers sha...how can some pple even refer to Ibidun not yet having kids in dis matter, DAT is sooooo below d line. And PST Ituah, haba fear God now and do His prophet no harm. I'm a mother and I know children always belong with their mother, I can't begin to imagine how much she's missed Ind past 3-4 yrs. No matter wat. Well notwithstanding I know lamide, Iconola when she started, Di's same Ibidun who is d enemy helped her grow.introduced her to her pple and her sis in laws like Mrs Ify Ighodalo, Asues wife. She's was one of her good customers. And den dose days of her being on magazine covers with her hubby and kids. So as for the kids being known, no b today. Edon tey. Another lesson here is not all DAT glitters is gold. when U see pple on magazine covers and on d media as a whole we shldnt envy dem. Our lives cld even b beta.no one knows what the pass thru in their closets.
    It is well o.

  129. The only thing that can make a woman flee from her matrimonial home and leave her kids behind is where there is a serious threat to her life. Her husband almost killed her. So many occasions she would not be able to see her clients due to physical bruises. Dare beat her constantly and nearly drowned her in the tub. DARE is sick. Has mental issues. If he is truly fit and can take care of his kids, why have they not been living under his roof? Dare has no job, lives off his sister and pastor I tuah. He is a drug addict too.

Now over to the real child kidnappers who call themselves man of God and woman of valor. I pity them oooo. Because when all goes down they will discover that the so called love they claim to have for thru selves will turn to hatred.

@Ibidun, pastor I tuah, your husband cannot survive this scandal o. In your best interest, return the kids to their biological mom. The whole world will rise against you and your husband. The kids do not belong to you. Their surname is not even Ighodalo.

Pray to God yo give you your own kids o. I never knew people of God who are meant to mediate between couples and mend broken relationships are the ones inciting war in the family.

Lamide is fit to look after her children. She has a good means of livelihood . Runs a good business. The court has ruled in her favor. Do not disobey the laws of the land.

If anything should happen to any of those kids, the Ighodalos must be held liable.

We have expressed our fears as their father is mentally unstable and has controlling issues. His case can be likened to that of a drowning man ready to pull all along with him.

He who has ears, let him ear.
Nothing must happen to those kids. I bidun should return the kids to their biological mom.
