Abuja people are already running from the city because of elections? (photos)

Some residents of Abuja are leaving the city before Saturday's election. Guess the uncertainty is scaring some people. No one knows if it will be peaceful or not. This photo was taken at Peace Transport in Abuja early this morning, with many travelers going to the East. Many buses had already taken off and most buses were filled up as at 7am this morning. See more photos after the cut..

Linda, not every thing they send to you should be posted. you are unconsciously putting the travellers at risk by alerting high way robbers and political hoodlums. always think before you post anything. The whole country is in chaos now, please don't fuel the fire. its better not to post at all than put innocent citizens in danger, remember some of them are your blog readers. You must be the dumbest person on earth if Goodluck Jonathan tells you that he will ensure your security and you believe him. 119. The Nigerian uncivilized and desperate politicians are really heating up the polity and there is so much tension and fear in the air. The way desperate politicians are doling out arms and cash to thugs to work for them is very dangerous. This is how Boko Haram evolved and ran out of the control of the former governor of Borno State. We all are facing the consequences today. There is an Igbo popular aphorism that says, "It is not giving the monkey drinking water with a cup that is the issue, but recovering your cup from him". I was at driving thru a major road in Mushin, Lagos last week when some armed thugs moving with the political rally of a major party here in Nigeria were shooting sporadically in the air and robbing and dispossessing people of their belongings. Before me the thugs collected the hand bags and phones of the passengers in the vehicle in front me. There was so much pandemonium, my with me friend thought they were rioting. I want to believe that you dont influence or woo people to vote for you by robbing them and the most annoying thing is that police escorts were with them.
I pray God will take control of the situation, for sure there shall be violence before and after the election but it will be brought under control. God bless Nigeria and Let there be peace.

Let us tolerate one another even if we dont believe in the same religion, share the same views nor support that same political party. Politics should not be a do or die affair. The better candidate or party will always prevail. This is my candid observation and advise. Cheers! Tony Nwokolo,

  140. #smh - sad that in lieu of putting plans in place to quell the violence, they ruling party is encouraging more violence.

#smh - Lies - Credit the incumbent, Jonathanians say: “Jonathan, Nigeria has emerged as by far the largest economy in Africa with a GDP of $503 billion; nearly double the previous estimates,” Femi Aribisala wrote.

#smh - When Jideofor Adibe, a Daily Trust columnist, implied the same thing, I immediately threw away 70 percent of the respect I had for him; and I’m now sussing him out on the remaining 30 percent.
Actually, the Economist argued that the Nigerian economy is growing not because of Jonathan but in spite of him: “The single bright spot of his rule has been Nigeria’s economy, one of the world’s fastest-growing. Yet that is largely despite the government rather than because of it, and falling oil prices will temper the boom. The prosperity has not been broadly shared: under Mr Jonathan poverty has increased. Nigerians typically die eight years younger than their poorer neighbours in nearby Ghana.
