Senate summons Prof Jega to explain election postponement

The Senate has summoned INEC chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega to appear before it tomorrow, Feb. 18th, to explain the reasons for the postponement of the general elections. They also want him to bring card readers to demonstrate how they would use them during the forthcoming elections.

INEC had on Feb 7th announced the postponement of the general elections citing security challenges.

    5. It was GEJ, who forced jega, to postponed the general election. My fellow Nigerians wake-up and take ur destiny into ur hand! Mattew 11:12 says, And from the days of John the Baptist until now, the Kingdom of Heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force. U and I need to pray that whatever PDP party members, has planed to rig the general election and governorship election will work against them in jesus mighty name. Amen!!! Also Vote for #change# on that day do not let people deceive people party PDP, deceive u.They are coming again! Shine ur eyes well, OJB, called them hawks that surround GEJ, and it is true, and Its has been proven that we are not moving forward. For past 6 years now, all what they do is to recycle themselves, like what u see today when GEJ, nominate obanikoro, etc. And continuity embezzlement of Nigerians money, people deceive people party PDP, that is their mentality, my people the rain may fall, the sun may shine, but doesn't disturb the snail to get to its destination. No matter what people deceive people say, about GMB, u nd I'll overcome them! Nigerians! Wake-up! the time has come my people lives matter. PDP party and corruption insecurity darkness no electricity bad government must go. Dear Nigerian's pls forget tribalism especially we the youths, we need change in our country Nigeria, pls lets vote right nd make Nigeria a better place for u nd I,ur children/unborn children nd the next generation. We re tired of CORRUPTION, GREED, ND INSECURITY, etc. That has eaten so deep into our past nd present leaders, the unfair treatment to the masses especially, the rich getting richer while the poor are getting poorer. Its so sad. May God continue to be with us Amen. Vote for #change# vote Buhari and Osinbajo. For president on march 28th. Nigeria must be free from corruption and better again. Vote APC. Thank U.

  14. so announcement made since on the 7th eventually got to the senate on the 17th, what a shame for the senate house. What have they been doing for over one week since the postponement? The INEC chairman may appear before senate tomorrow, but do not demonstrate the use of the card reader, because that is PDP new strategy to understand the process and get imitation or fake cards and card readers to rig the election.

  15. Why are we nigerias full of lies? A postponement was based on security report given to the commission by the military and now some clowns are summoning him to explain the reason for the postponement. Their aim is to robe him and say he is no longer fit to run the commission. Pls lets stop all this.

      Thank you.

Why summon him when it was the military that said all their men were going to sambisa to fight and they won't,be able to guarantee our protection.fortunately president Jonathan made mention of this during live chat so lets hear the federal government and military deny this.

But while we are busy being deceived by politicians and falling for all their lies, our eyes left other basic amenities.

The light situation has gotten worse and yet the electricity tariff is higher.we normally consume about 25k/30k monthly in my home (though we don't have electricity supply for more than a few hours a day and never through the week),but this month alone we have already bought 20k worth of cards and today is just the 17th.There are only two of us here as kids are in boarding school.

Something has definitely been tampered with.

  45. #smh -Very funny! Prof Soyinka said it all in an interview with BBC. Both candidates aren't the best so voters are struggling to choose. However, let's choose the lesser evil; now he isn't an evil compared to the 'plunderers' in PDP. Have you noticed Buhari never insults Goodluck? Have u noticed a president insulting Buhari on the campaign trail? Vote for Change!
