Giuliana Rancic apologizes on air about weed comment + people want her fired

This whole Giuiliana/Zendaya weed issue is really annoying me. The TV presenter has now been made to apologize on air for saying Zendaya's dreadlocks 'smell of patchouili or 'weed'. Not only that, some celebs who have weighed in on the issue are insulting her, one even mentioned her barrenness.

Whoopi Goldberg said on The View: 'She's not Joan Rivers. Unless you know how to make jokes, don't do it... I've met real racists so I'm very hesitant to call people who put their foot in their mouth racist. She was just ignorant... a bonehead. I have had dreads for 40 years, and never have I smelled like patchouli.'

Comedienne Sheryl Underwood said on The Talk, "How would Giuliana feel if we made comments on her inability to have a baby?'.

I feel like people are just making such a big deal out of this. Is it only black people that wear dreads and smoke weed? How is what Giuilian said racist? It was more silly to me than racist. And now people are calling for her to be sacked from E!. Read that and her apology after the cut...

Radar Online claims an insider told them people want Giuliana gone from Fashion Police and E!
"The entire cast of Fashion Police is done with Giuliana and they are hoping that she will be not only kicked off the show, but also off of the network.”
"And seeing that she's had a bit of an alleged feud with new E! News correspondent Maria Menunos, this new blip is ruffling even more feathers." The source added:
“The network does not condone racism in any way, shape or form and they know that their reputation is now at stake,” the source adds.

Giuliana's apology below...
'I'd really like to address something that's weighing really heavy on my heart. I want to apologize for a comment that I made on last night's Fashion Police about Zendaya's hair.'
'As you know, Fashion Police is a show that pokes fun at celebrities in good spirit, but I do realize that something I said last night did cross the line.'
'I just want everyone to know that I didn't intend to hurt anybody, but I learned it's not my intent that matters. It's the result. And the result is people are offended, including Zendaya. And that is not okay.'
The apology video below..

  27. Unforgiving spirit is the new demon in town! People hardly forgive anymore, even after an apology has been made. Forgiveness is now seen as a sign of weakness. She made a bad mistake and I fear she'll eventually have to leave the E Network forcefully or resign. Reminds me of Jim Clancy of CNN who had a less controversial but similar experience.

  58. Linda, your connection to blacks in America begins and ends with showing their worst for mockery and traffic on your blog. You don't feel their pain. If you don't understand, sit back and listen. The outrage isn't manufactured but real. When ignoramuses insult Nigerians, you mobilize all of Nigeria into action on social media. Yet you give this issue short shrift because it doesn't matter to you.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  63. I totally agree with you Linda on this one. People be acting like this is the first time they know the show is just for making fun and nothing serious. And Kelly Osbourne even disappointed me about this issue, she was laughing about it when Giuliana made the comment (I watched the video on Daily Mail) and she is now going to go off later to rant on twitter about Zendaya being her friend so its cool if they talk about someone else who is not your friend. Don't you know Giuliana personally or what?
In short, those Americans are sneaky and like to take advantage of you when you say something wrong. How I wish Joan Rivers was alive, she doesn't care.. she even said President Obama was gay and his wife Michelle a tranny.

    ReplyDelete
  64. It is indeed offensive and a racist comment Linda, weed they believe is black 'people thing' in fact they believe every black person smokes weed, in search for weed the police only visits places only black people lives..and to say such a thing on live TV that's being watched by almost the world shows how she actually feels about black people condemning her hair cos is also for black people!! If she had done a white person hair style I'msure there wouldn't even be this problem

    ReplyDelete

  76. Linda that comment was so uncalled-for ok. Zendaya's dreads looked amazing on her. If her dreads looked dirty/unkept and Giuiliana makes that comment then I'd understand. Giuiliana simply insinuated that people who wear dreads usually smell of weed, and it's not fair especially when majority of people that wear dreads are blacks. That's stereotyping. "Our thoughts become our words." Giuiliana probably had such thought which was why it became so easy for her to make a comment like that. She just needs to relax and learn her lessons.

    ReplyDelete
  82. linda i know you won't see anything wrong with it because you are not a true jornalist and you constantly use your blog to bash people and make mean and unacceptable comments!! julliana was extreamly out of line.left to me that fashion police should be cancelled because they are a bunch of bullys.what shocks me the most is all the hosts look like they have been victims (worwor pikins) of bulling so why grow up and decide to do that to other people. back to julliana, she made a comment about the poor girl because she had dreads on!!not because she looked bad but because of her HAIR!! her AFRICAN HAIR!!we all know white people aren't born with dreds!! she associated our hair with something dirty and wrong!! its a racial stereotype saying black people look like they are dirty or get high all the time!!! she's no different from zimmerman that police man that shot the harmless black boy trayvon because he was black!!!so therefore he was harmful!!! julliana needs to be used as an example>PERIOD

    ReplyDelete
  83. She deserves whatever insults thrown at her, the comment she made was a very stupid one. Not everything can pass as a joke

    ReplyDelete
  84. Like! They're blowing it way out of proportion. It wasn't in any way racist. And Sheryl underwoods example was rather unnecessary because it's not like zendaya actually takes weed. What Sheryl said was rather insensitive and mostly to other infertile women out there.

I believe PDP can do something like this.

They should slander Buhari for all I care, he has my own vote. Nigerians like the way the country is, to be able to get away with indiscipline and corruption and all the thieves know that they can get away with lotsa things that's why they're doing all they can to poison the minds of the people. They're saying he imprisoned innocent people, will he just go and pick out any individual and jail them? They must have done something wrong and its because he is a disciplined man who believes people should be punished for crimes, he jailed them. I don't think I can just be doing my own thing jejely and he'll imprison me, or possibly someone must have said something that was a lie against me. Abeg jor, we are all entitled to our opinion. This is Nigeria and not America where any Lil info will change the minds of the people. We have all made up our minds knowing that NO ONE is perfect.

  130. Next time be careful how you run your mouth. Joan rivers would have probably said that and people may laugh it off or she just may not have said it at all...you ain't Joan Rivers...so stop trying to fill in that space...There is a fine line between trying to be funny and being outright disrespectful.
Linda take a look around...98% of the people in the world who carry dreads/locs...are either black or half black or have a black background. You ever seen Paris Hilton with dreads/locs?
She really did cross the line on this and hell Yea that comment of hers...was so freaking racist.

    ReplyDelete
  131. Even though i don't want her fired. She crossed the line.Thats why when pulling a joke make sure you are a comedian or its with your friends or people who understand you. What she said was racist but that was not her intention, like Whoopi said "ignorant". I hope the forgive her.

    ReplyDelete
  132. Its good to apologize but don't hurt others with your words.

    ReplyDelete
  133. this is BS, Sheryl u shld be ashamed of yourself for saying that to your fellow woman......bitch.Mrs rancic shouldn't hv apologized atall

    MISSVEE

    ReplyDelete
  134. At least, she said she's sorry...even if she gets sacked.

    Redcandy

    ReplyDelete
  135. Haba! They Shd forgive her. It was just a mistake and she's realised it. Unless if fashion police cre have had issues on ground with her though that's why they're calling for her head. Its not really up to all this brouhaha. They should all just let it go and btw it's not nice to attack her on her inability to have a child. That's a sore wound

    ReplyDelete
  136. Eya..... Tiz not fair.... *thamixbreed*

    ReplyDelete
  137. They should let this one slide.....am pretty sure she have learnt her lesson!

    ReplyDelete
  138. It's not only Abt the comment there is more to it.. She obviously has been annoying pple.. For Kelly to attack her u knw she has been offending a lot of pples.. Anyways zendaya she call her anorexic & move on.. Lmao

    ReplyDelete
  139. Apology accepted.. abeg make them leave this woman before she go commit suicide, e nor dey hard dem oh....

2015... my year of continuous progress ....

    ReplyDelete
  140. I do understand what you mean when you say the comments are more silly that racist. She hit a soft nerve and following the stereo type to dreads it's a line that shouldn't be crossed... It all boils back to colonialism when white supremacist pointed out african curls and twist as dirty and white straighted hair as the neat and beautiful choice. So it's one silly comment that needs to be addressed

    ReplyDelete
  141. Funny enough it sounds like something Joan Rivers will say... oh well.

    ReplyDelete
  142. Zenddaya's hair is beautiful!!!! How and y wld she say somefin like dt.....suits her well, such a bone hair reali..!fuckin racists...

    ReplyDelete
  143. The apology sound sincere, everyone should put this behind and move on

    ReplyDelete
  144. She is not joan Rivers and wld neva be!fuckin bone head.......wor wo finish!

    ReplyDelete
  145. linda, this issue shouldnt annoy you.this is a mere fact of stereotype, this should be a lesson to all those top shows done by white.you can't joke about a black;s hair like that and escape it.

    ReplyDelete
  146. She has apologised, case closed. Joan rivers has said deep and more tins dan dis nd nobody dare say a word, so coz it's giuliana abi?

    ReplyDelete
  147. They shud end dis already and they beta not fire guiliana coz she's a sweetheart

    ReplyDelete
  148. beht like criosly..dy re tkn ds shii too far..buh d look on zendaya's face rli dos look like she smells like weed....dy ll bn lookn fr opportunity to attach guiliana bd dey made use of ds...dy shd frgt it...

    ReplyDelete
  149. abeg they should free her jor. she is one person i respect alot cos her story n how she handled all the challenges in her life shows she's a strong person.

    ReplyDelete
  150. #myopinioncounts#26 February 2015 at 19:14

This issue is being blown out of proportion. I doubt she would intentionally make a racist comment even if she is a racist. She was just trying to give her opinion on what she thought about Zendaya's locks.

    ReplyDelete
  151. Sabi sabi gal...Lol. i like her tho!

    ReplyDelete
  152. beht like criosly..dy re tkn ds shii too far..buh d look on zendaya's face rli dos look like she smells like weed....dy ll bn lookn fr opportunity to attack guiliana so! dey made use of ds...dy shd frgt it...

  153. Linda, your statements proves you are quite ignorant and clueless . You know nothing about the black movement and how bad it is to stereotype people based on their looks. It was the same stereotype that led to the killing of Trayvon Martin by Zimmerman. People react for reasons, please try to find out the indepth analysis to issues before making uninformed statements.

    ReplyDelete
  154. Linda, I've said this many times, you are ignorant. Remember comments like these in the Western world weigh heavily. It is not like in Nigeria that you can abuse with impunity and get away with it. Giuliana stereotyped and stereotyping is akin to racism. Do some research please. Now, they are saying she has a history of being racist but it never gets out. Shut it if you don't know what lies behind the scenes.

    ReplyDelete
  155. Linda, can you please just write the gist and stop giving your opinion on every post? It's now even becoming hard to tell where the story ends and where your unwanted opinions start. Please save your views to yourself and allow your readers make their opinion without having to read yours first. I don't come to your blog to write your opinions. Just the stories. So leave your opinions out please.

    ReplyDelete
  156. Zendaya is just a kid shes 18 mrs Rancic shouldn't have said that about her... Zendaya is no JB or miley shes a really good kid.

    ReplyDelete
  157. I think you need to be living in the country where it happened to really understand what's going on. She apologized, yes, but more importantly she and people that think such...yes...RACIST thoughts, should be careful what they actually let out of their mouth. Let's be real and NOT NAIVE, even though other races wear dread locks, it is essentially an AFRICAN thing.

    ReplyDelete
  158. Have always loved Giuliana, and this won't reduce my love for her. Apology accepted

    ReplyDelete
  159. They been hating her from day one and she set herself up to be finally crucified and buried. I think she's not just a likeable person. Bad for her!!!

    ReplyDelete
  160. It is racist albeit not intentionally so.
There are some things whites just are not allowed to say. It might not seem fair to restrict whites like that, but it is how it is. She was out of line.

    ReplyDelete
  161. These guys are taking the issue to far, if she leaves fashion police, then I see no reason to watch d show

    ReplyDelete
  162. For crying out loud, what's the big deal!Pple make mistakes nd she z no diff.,get over it#notafan

    ReplyDelete
  163. I think everyone has finally had it with this programme "fashion police" she is only the scapegoat led to take the fall. The mention of her inability to have a child is a step too far. It is infact unfair to say the least to put her poking fun on somebody's appearance(which they can btw change) and her inability to create a child(which she can't change) in one category. The world has gone too politically correct. She was wrong and ignorant to address an 18 year old in that manner but that dosnt make the people coming after her less vile.

    ReplyDelete
  164. linda ikeji shut the bleep up let someone make joke of ur k leg on international tv and see how it feels to be humiliated, guiliana is not joan rivers or a commedienne n therefore shld not throw sensitive jokes at people.u r not living in america to understand how sensitive comments are, if its not taken this serious believe me every black person's hair whether with dreaeds or not will be bullied or made fun of since someone on tv many look up to did it, it will start trending, so shut up n let guiliana roll. imagine if she is told she looks like a skeleton cos she is on drugs, it will tear her to sherds

    ReplyDelete
  165. You have to first look at yourself before you open your mouth to insult others.

    ReplyDelete
  166. Apology accepted...Zendaya biko forgive her...she did cross the line....but if it was d late Joan River that poked her it won't raise much dust...I love guiliana....

    ReplyDelete
  167. Make dem free d lady jare...if it wz Joan Rivers, they would laugh at dat.

    ReplyDelete
  168. The political climate of America right now does not allow for such comments. While you surrounded by Africans and you can crack jokes about yourselves comfortably, think about your brothers and sisters in the diaspora who are constantly being insulted just because of the colour of their skin and might I add surrounded by White people.

    ReplyDelete
  169. She didn't not struggle 2 apologies,plssss,whatever. Happens 2 2nd chance

    ReplyDelete
  170. I am sure she has learnt her lesson, I do feel sorry for her. I am sure she meant the thing to be a joke and then trust human beings to take the whole thing out of context.

    ReplyDelete
  171. Linda you sure need to enlighten yourself and read more on racial discrimination before you try to have an opinion on issues you know next to nothing about.

    ReplyDelete
  172. I forgive you G, so the whole world will, *by God's grace*. Mayybe she really dint mean to say dat so they should just free her, am sure she's crying her eyes out already. I wonder how she's gon get back to dat show *its dragging*

    ReplyDelete
  176. Good for her......next time she wil use alomo bitter wash mouth be4 she talk

    ReplyDelete
  177. apology accepted.... but no try am again o. you ain't juan rivers.... she gets away with anything.

Dafe writes via old itel mobile

    ReplyDelete
  178. Hmmm.am so sorry for her.y ar they being so hard on her?

    ReplyDelete
  179. this matter i think is being over flogged. Giuliana has sincerely apologized and i feel her apology should be accepted, why would anyone want her to be sacked because of this. people should not even make mockery of her inability to have a child. that would be so inhumane, it could happen to anyone, it was no fault of her. After all she has a baby through surrogacy which also was formed from her eggs. only difference is that she didn't carry the pregnancy physically. this matter should die already

    ReplyDelete
  180. Linda you are very biased because you like Guiliana. We get it, you like her. Don't shove the wrong thing down our throats. For some time she has changed and wasn't the same sweet person we all loved from day one. I guess this is just the outlet for people to vent out what they've been carrying for sometime.

    ReplyDelete
  181. Eyaaaaa. See how they're dragging Julianna anyhow.

    ReplyDelete

  182. Some people including Zendaya are just milking this. Fine, Giuliana made a rude comment but for Christ's sake it had nothing to do with black people. This is just between her and the person she spoke of.

    ReplyDelete
  183. Linda pls note! Nigeria AOP mocked eniola and said "tagged eniola and die of hiv within 24hrs" and sadly no one is calling for his sack!. They should pls accept her apology.Nigerians must start holding people accountable.

  185. Its no big deal. Just think she said the weed thing because of rastafarians. People should get over it. They yap white people on fashion police all the time

    ReplyDelete
  186. These people have been looking for a way to get her off the show. There is nothing wrong with wat she said. They are just being stupid.

    ReplyDelete
  187. It is a big deal. She is a public figure with huge exposure and a platform to match. She has to be more sensitive.
Blacks in America have been historically oppressed ridiculed, and talk down to. For her to make a stereotypical statement or a joke like that, deserves to loose her job.
BTW You have to live it, and experience it to know how painful the shit really is.

    ReplyDelete
  188. Linda I don't want to hate you cos of this ur bias. I've lived in America all my life. And only a black living amongst whites would understand how white ppl see our hair. Stop licking the white man's ass. You've never gone through what we go through here. You are the reason black ppl ain't united. Keep your silly slave mentality to yourself
