Dangote loses almost half of his fortune over the past 6 months?
According to Bloomberg Billionaires, Nigeria's richest man Aliko Dangote lost almost half of his $21billion in 6 months. Is this true? And how did it happen?
Idiots, as dollars increases, all values become less valuable. All you lovers of GEJ. I am getting affected personal. This is as a result of mismanagement. Here goes all the number economy in Africa claim. Liars.
Jonathan couldn't diversify our economy in 6 years.
Ummmm,i can't believe this, how did dey acces his assets and investments to know?where's d evidence? U can't just spring up from somewhere and claim Africa's richest man lost half of his wealth without concrete facts
Did you ask the same question when they named him Africa's richest man? If they were able to access information to ascertain that he was, why wouldn't they be able to access information of same said wealth. Think...
African fastest growing economy indeed, vry soon Dangote grps too will start letting ppl off. for dos supporting n clamouring for Gej...may ur lifes b managed n way it grow lik Nigeria economic under him amin ase
well, could be true cos a friend just called me in from Gboko that he has just lost his job with Dangote Cement, Gboko. Asked him why? He answered that the company had been closed down! My immediate reaction was that 'but Dangote is doing well', and he replied that its not really through...the man's main strength in business is his political connection...it seems to be failing seriously now
i guess its because of the Naira falling against the dollars. Shebi one of these prophets have said this in their new year prophesies. Hmmmm too bad it shows that Nigerians should not take these prophesies about the elections as a joke. Prayers is all we need.......auzylicious
A prophet's prophesy included Dangote loosing some of his wealth, I do hope Bloomberg is not capitalizing on dt lol. If its true den its not unrelated to Boko haram activities. www.joytammy.blogspot.com
Aaahhhh. Did he fall mugu or....????? Hard to believe.

This what devaluation of our currency cause... Our economy is crashing, we haven't know what we are in for, everyone should be scared seriously... ! ! ! **man in suit**
This what devaluation of our currency cause... Our economy is crashing, we haven't know what we are in for, everyone should be scared seriously... ! ! ! **man in suit**
Obviously, the current devaluation of the Naira is the key factor. Aliko's networth for those who don't know consists of his holdings, assets, stock options etc and most of these things are valued in Naira e.g his holding in Dangote Plc is firstly valued in Naira as that is the official currency of the NSE, also, his holdings across Nigeria which forms the bedrock of his immense business empire are valued in naira. Therefore, as the exchange rate falls so also his dollar value.
His shares in Dangote Cement is usually factored in his net worth. since the share price has fallen so badly, this is expected. Just watch out, in not too distant future, you'll read that Dangote doubled his net worth in 6 months once the stock market recovers
We have all lost almost have of our fortunes! If u had 1million in your account, the value is now 750k. If u had 100mill it's now 75mill. We have all lost 25% of our fortune, but for a poor man like myself the money I have lost is small, Dangote now has lost 250million for every 1billion he has
We all know Sir Aliko is an investor>>>>>>Something is telling me that he could have invested in the Nigeria Political business at this time of elections. So friends,my man knows what he is doing with his money o,abi Linda no be so?
The funny part of all dis is dat....am sure he is as shocked as u..reading he lost half of iz investment...all dose men no fit shake....de probably doesn't even know cuz nutin changed....
Can u read at all, Linda? (And I am referring to the blog not you personally - for some of your readers judging the comments) He lost $7.8B out of $25B, is that half? The forbes article clearly says half of the losses are from Nigerian devaluation of naira - the economy.
Linda, all these ppl u are calling billionaires are not billionaires. They at best millionaires. It's only when a person is a dollar denominated billionaire that you can refer to him/her as a billionaire. Now, in case of Dangote, his assets are denominated in Naira. So, if the naira goes down his assets will go down proportionately and the reverse is also true. They know what he is worth in naira all they have to do is divide his net worth by the new exchange rate and they will know his current net worth in dollars. That is how they know what is going on.
Most of the people that talk out of ignorance need to be schooled like Buhari. What do you expect with the current fall in oil price and the current devaluation of the naira thereby affecting the exchange rate in the stock market. Please Nigeria is not the only country face with this economic crisis. People should pray for God's deliverance for the country instead of accusing the president for everything, a boy that got infected with HIV due to his refusal to abstain or play safe will blame GEJ for his misfortune. I believe most of you will stop commenting on national issues when somebody like Buhari who does not believe in freedom of speech becomes the president. Some of you will be imprisoned for saying the truth. My prayer is for God never to allow the wicked man his evil team win because Nigeria will face more crisis and corruption under APC, the party is made of desperate criminals.
hahahaha its true na... this our poor economy has finished everyone. The nose of the econpmy has pitched down and nothing is being done about it. just a shame. How I pray this train don't crush us all.
Element says; it can't be up to half, but he sure has lost a lot. The rise of the dollar against the Naira is one sure way since most of his assets are invested in Naira or other African currencies besides the worth of his wealth was valued in Naira and converted to the Dollar. . . this is just one reason.
Too bad....
