Seeing the smile on his face, you would think everything was fine with him but that's the smile of a young man about to end his life. He posted the pic on the left on instagram and wrote "I'm here" and on the pic on the right, he wrote "Smile. You've lived". 'I'm here' was him basically telling his followers that he'd arrived at the destination of his suicide. His final photo was a pic of his watch &he wrote "Time to see if my watch is waterproof" A few minutes after posting the pics and messages, he jumped from that rail you see in the pic into the Detroit River. His body was found a few hours later.
His name was Billy Watts and he was from Detroit. He'd suffered depression for many months which he openly talked about on instagram. He talked about how some people can't get out of depression no matter how much they try. This happened in October 2014. Continue...

I'll tell you now what I tell her. That condition doesn't make you less beautiful. Always remember that beauty comes from within and that you're created in God's image and after His likeness. When you fell sad about not being able to wear leggings, think of those who don't have legs. Don't give depression a place in your life. It's not of God. So many young people are depressed these days. It's really disturbing. Like one of those commenters said, suicide is a sin. And only God knows how to judge this but I pray that his spirit finds peace somehow. Really sad.

DeleteDepression is real o. it is a mental health disease. A chemical called Serotonin in the brain is to blame. A lot of people go through it but wont talk about it. In naija spiritual help, family and community support helps the individual but in the western world isolation and loneliness allows depression to get out of hand. Depressed people need a lot of supervision and encouragement.

The truth is that for us that believe in CHRIST our Lord and saviour, we do not have anything to worry about. Just worship HIM in truth and spirit and every other thing will follow.
