Jimi Agbaje reacts to tax evasion indictment by gov Fashola

Find the press statement signed by Jimi Agbaje's media director, Felix Oboagwina below...
Mr. Jimi Agbaje expresses surprise at this rather personal and unprovoked attack against his person by Governor Raji Fashola. Just in January, the Commissioner for Finance sent a personal letter to Mr. Agbaje, commending him for his faithfulness in payment of taxes relating to his residence.
It is a curious contradiction that several days later, the Governor himself would express sentiments clearly in contradiction to the spirit and letter of that voluntary and unsolicited commendation from the state.
Are they feeling the heat of Agbaje and PDP’s impending victory in the state, or how does one explain this recourse to personal attacks recently embarked upon by chieftains of APC?
Although he founded JayKay Pharmaceuticals, Mr. Agbaje left the directorship of the company in 2006, and this is on record with the state. He is no longer involved in the running of the company. And today, he is not even an Executive Director.
We have a letter signed by Ayo Gbeleyi, Honourable Commissioner for Finance in Lagos State, where Agbaje received commendations for fulfilling his tax obligations. The letter from the Ministry says: “A review of our payment records from 2011 shows that you have been consistent with the payment of Land Use Charge on the above property (Agbaje’s residence in Apapa).
“The Lagos State Government wishes to express its appreciation to you on your consistent fulfilment of your civil responsibility and your singular contribution towards the development of the state.
“We look forward to your continued cooperation in this regard.”
It will be recalled that the Governor only about two weeks ago said that Agbaje was too old to be Governor, although the PDP Candidate is only 57.
This fresh outburst amounts to another futile attempt at mudslinging by a desperado group that is up against a formidable opponent, and it has only succeeded in staining the source.
Lagosians should be wary of APC and its bag of tricks.

DIRECTOR OF MEDIA AND PUBLICITY TO MR. JIMI AGBAJE, PDP GOVERNORSHIP CANDIDATE FOR LAGOS STATE

    1. And you guys find it normal for a commissioner of finance to send a thank you letter to a tax payer? Then I should receive one as well. This country is just full of so many atrocities. It's a normal procedure to pay your tax in the constitution, so why the thank you message? Very annoying

I personally would like to see a scanned copy of this "letter of appreciation".

Should it exist,Mr. Agbaje would have attached a scanned copy to this press release.

I also need to know for personal reasons as my husband and I have unfailingly paid our Land use charge every year for the past 9 years and except its a new(this year) development,we have never received an appreciation letter for fulfilling our obligations as taxable citizens.

    Thank you.

  23. Jumi agbaje, there are different kinds of taxes and levies. Fashola was explicit. He mentioned land use charge.not personal income tax. Your pharmaceutical company is subject to companies income tax which is under the federal government purview.
What taxes is the the commissioner of finance discharging you of.
Confirm whether or not you have paid your land use charge

IT IS OBVIOUS NOW THAT FASHOLA HAS GONE DOWN THE GUTTERS WITH THE REST OF THE APC. I DID SINCERELY HAD SOME REGARD FOR THIS MAN. BUT THERE IS A SAYING IN IGBO LAND AND IT GOES "ODIMMA KA IKUKU NA EFE, KA AMARA NA FATHER NA EYI KWA TROUSER" WHICH IN ENGLISH IS, IT IS NICE FOR THERE TO BE WIND SO THAT WE WILL ALSO KNOW THAT THE REV. FATHER WEAR,S TROUSERS ALSO. A WORD IS ENOUGH FOR THE WISE NOW THAT EVEN FASHOLA WE ALL HAVE BEEN PRAISING IRRESPECTIVE OF OUR POLITICAL LEANING HAVE BY HIS STATEMENTS/ATTEMPTS & BODY LANGUAGE BEEN TRYING TO PAINT JIMI AGBAJE BLACK WITH HIS AGE, NOW TAX ISSUES WHICH ARE ALL GLARING TO ALL LAGOSIANS BY EVIDENCES/FACT PROVING NOT IMAGINED THAT TRULY HE RAJI FASHOLA BELIEVES THAT JIMI AGBAJE IS VERY MUCH MORE QUALIFIED TO TAKE OVER FROM HIM THAN AMBODE IS OR CAN EVER BE. SO I SAY TO LAGOSIANS PLEASE LET US ALL VOTE WISELY. FASHOLA HAS SHOWN US THE TRUTH. VOTE AGBAJE, VOTE GEJ, VOTE PDP, VOTE LAGOS, VOTE PROGRESS, VOTE FORWARD LAGOS, VOTE FORWARD NIGERIA. THIS IS THE SWEETNESS OF DEMOCRACY. AND MAY I ADD THAT NOBODY SHOULD PLEASE BE UPSET WITH FASHOLA FOR HE IS IN TRUTH CAMPAIGNING FOR AGBAJE COVERTLY. YOU SHOULD ALL REMEMBER THAT HE IS TRULY ONE OF THE SMARTEST POLITICIANS IN THE RING NOW BUT OWING TO HIS COMMITMENTS TO BOLA TINUBU/APC, WE UNDERSTAND AMBODE WAS NOT HIS PREFERRED CANDIDATE BUT HE CAN,T JUST LET TINUBU DOWN PUBLICLY. HE HAS TO DO IT COVERTLY AND HE IS DOING IT WELL. THANK YOU FASHOLA, LAGOS WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER YOU FOR YOUR PATRIOTISM.

  119. Hello NIGERIAN.......... vote your conscience. Don't be
manipulated. If your pastor says don't vote for a
Muslim, ask him if Daniel served a saint; whether
Modeccai did not serve King Ahaseurus and if Joseph
was not a prime Minister under Pharaoh. This election
is not about North versus South, nor is it Christian
versus Muslim. It is about Nigeria and good
governance. Don't allow politicians divide us. When
they share money, they don't talk about religion. When
they want donations from Aliko Dangote, they don't
remember he is a Muslim. When they enter an
aircraft, they don't ask the religious faith of the
pilot. When their bosses are atheists, they don't
resign from the job. When an Alhaji gives them
contracts, they don't reject it. They and their wives
go to Dubai to spend money. Dubai is in United Arab
Emirate but they have no problems buying houses in
Dubai. But when it comes to politics back home, they
say they want to ISLAMISE you. Yet, some of these
people were spiritual consultants to Abacha. Vote your
conscience. If you want to vote for Jonathan, vote for
him based on your conviction that he has performed in
your estimation and not because he is a "Christian". If
you want to vote for Buhari, vote for him because you
feel disenchanted with Jonathan government, not
because he is a Muslim. Say NO to bigotry. God bless
    Nigeria.

Saying he is no longer a Director of Jaykay Pharmacy begs the question of the manner of corporate citizen the company is and also raises the issue of what Mr Jimi Agbaje does and as been doing for a living since 2006!

    ReplyDelete
  128. You're not an Executive Director doesn't mean you have relinquished ownership. What you said is you're no longer involved in the day to day running, which we obviously expect. Are you still part of the ownership structure YES or NO? Did JayKay Pharmaceuticals pay land use charge between the periods stated? YES or NO?

  144. Governor Fashola and the APC,i think they all ran out of ideas because they looked around and found no fault in a man who has a clean record,a man of integrity,a man who is articulate,a man very constructive and clear headed. This is a man who built a business from no foundation to a big company,a man that never has is hand stained unlike Fashola who claim to be A SAN and as no Chamber and Ambode who claims to be Chartered accountant and accountant general of the state who cannot read and interpret figures a dumbfounded person that could not even know that it was 1.5% on the budget on education was expended on vocational education at a debate held at ikeja ,weather APC like it or not,NA JIMI AGBAJE I GO VOTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

  149. By the way, the Fasola himself what does he pay or he is busy sharing his Lagos state loot with his oga (Tinubu). Abeg they should leave honest people alone and go change their ways.

  150. I LEAST EXPECTED THIS FROM FASHOLA, I ALSO RECEIVED A LETTER TOO APPRECIATING US FOR KEEPING UP TO DATE, THE LETTER IS PARTICULARLY SENT TO THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN UP TO DATE ON PAYMENT OF LAND USE CHARGE, SO I GUESS FASHOLA AFTERALL ISN'T WHAT HE POSES TO BE, APC IS A SET OF FRUSTRATED POLITICIANS WHO NEED MORE POWER TO BULLY NIGERIANS JUST THE WAY THEY DO IN LAGOS STATE, USING TAX PAYERS MONEY TO BUILD BRIDGES AND ROADS AND STILL COLLECTING TOW GATE FEE, AND THEY PLAN TO DEAL WITH NIGERIANS EVEN MORE IF THEY RULE THE COUNTRY.
