Defence spokesperson Gen. Olukolade asks Nigerians to tweet questions to him...read all his answers

Days after some Nigerian soldiers spoke with CNN exclusively and exposed what they claim is the 'rot' in the military, i.e, they buy their own kit, they are not well equipped etc, Major General Chris Olukolade, the Nigerian Defence Spokesperson took to twitter this evening to set the record straight. He asked Nigerians to ask whatever questions they wanted to know about what the Nigerian military is doing in their battle against Boko Haram and he addressed some of the things the soldiers alleged in that CNN interview. See the tweets after the cut...

  17. I find that response "human needs are insatiable" funny. It is an open secret that the money allocated for security alone can buy smaller countries like chad. But when the money goes down the food chain of the millitary,it keeps being hijacked and before it reaches the lowest soldier on the chain,it has become stipend.so which insatiable is he talking about? He should have answered all these questions in one sentence."The Nigerian millitary has failed to protect you but we promise to do better"

  52. If they had used the money as it was supposed to be used, then the war would already be finished. All of them have their way of chopping their own "Share" of the money when purchases are made. If you doubt me the track down a guy named Amin Ilyas and ask him where he got the money to buy his Bugatti and his Rolls Royce!!!! He is in charge of laundering their "Shares". He even went with some of the military to Belarus a few weeks ago to help them get the equipment and collect their "Shares". The NSA and the Chief of Defense Staff know him well and they are all a bunch of Thieves!!!!! They have stolen so much of the money meant for weapons and equipment for the soldiers! They should be in jail! They have cost a lot of Nigerians their lives!!!! As they say in law enforcement, follow the Money!!!!

  55. Well, for those who want to read lies and damage control statements please send your tweets to Olukolade or the defence headquarters. U will get abundance of it, good luck. Nigeria will regain a trust-worthy military only when the current military community is overhauled, and rid off political officers.

  58. UNHAPPY NIGERIAN20 January 2015 at 08:14

GREAT NIGERIA, OUR DEMOCRACY MUST GROW, MORE GREASE TO DR. GOODLUCK EBELE JONATHAN!!!MORE GREASE TO PDP!!! MORE GREASE TO NIGERIAN ARMED FORCES, MORE GREASE TO THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA. OUR INSTITUTIONS MUST GROW STRONGER, FORWARD EVER NIGERIA, BACKWARD NEVER. MY PEOPLE, FOR THE FIRST TIME WE ORDINARY CITIZENS OF NIGERIA ARE BEING ABLE TO CALL OUR GOVERNMENT TO ANSWER TO US/OUR CONCERNS, OUR QUESTIONS. IT IS HAPPENING UNDER GEJ!!! NOW THIS DEMOCRATIC HATERS, THOSE WHO DETEST OUR FREEDOM OF SPEECH ARE TRYING TO COME AND TAKE IT FROM US AGAIN. NEVER AGAIN SHALL ANY NIGERIAN BE PROSECUTED FOR HIS/HER VIEW OR OPINION. NIGERIA WILL NEVER HAVE ANY OTHER POLITICAL PRISONER, NO JOURNALIST SHALL EVER BE IMPRISONED FOR DOING HIS/HER JOB. NEVER AGAIN NIGERIA!!! WE/NIGERIANS SAY NO TO DICTATORS. NEVER AGAIN, BUHARI NEVER AGAIN!!!

  59. The fact still remains that BH issue is a high level conspiracy against GEJ's government and soon God will disgrace them all - the group and their sponsors and rid Nigeria of these evil people.

  61. cant find answers to the questions relating to ensuring victory over the insurgents.
The Military and our govt failed woefully in protecting lives and property. The solders on battle front have outdated weaponry to fight and up till now, all he can answer is "AK47 is okay"
The money allocated for arms and ammunition, has gradually gone down the drain with no single explanation. I taya
