Lancelot Imasuen's 'Invasion 1897' leads Nollywood Invasion of cinemas

Lancelot Imasuen's historical epic, Invasion 1897, has witnessed record attendance at cinemas across Nigeria since it was released on December 5, 2014. There has been unanimous agreement among moviegoers that it is one of the best movies of 2014. Movie lovers have thronged out in large numbers to watch the movie as word has spread about the brilliant epic. Continue...

Impressively, INVASION 1897 has outperformed Hollywood titles at various locations across the country. The movie is spearheading a Nollywood invasion of Nigerian cinemas, which has seen Nollywood movies taking over from Hollywood movies at the Nigerian box office.

The epic is based on the invasion of the great Benin Kingdom by the British in 1897, which saw the deposition of Oba Ovonramwen Nogbaisi. The movie parades an impressive cast, which incudes Mike Omoregbe, Segun Arinze, Rudolph Walker, Charles Inojie, Paul Obazele, Justus Esiri, Charles 'Chucky' Venn, and Leo Mezie.

Movie lovers have been captivated by the power of the story, the stunning visual effects, the fantastic performances of the actors, as well as the rich display of culture in the film. Go see INVASION 1897 at a cinema near you this weekend, and you will see why many are describing it as the best movie of 2014.

  2. Let's be sincere, let's be honest. Its not about when you opened a blogger account, most of these names here opened their account years ago but they have not been consistent at all, while some have abandoned LIB for other blogs. Now that its about money they have come running back and are using their old account as reasons to win. Damn that crap !! Moses nd. Bishop Dammy are new buh den dey have been amazing, prompt, loyal. I wake up in the morning and Dammy has inspiring words for me, Moses cracks me up and you too!! Let's be honest people. Linda encourage them, give them something..that's a fact, they are most deserving. And as long as 2014 is concerned they beat Onyx and Bonario. This is not about antecedents, its a give away for 2014. Which people made it happen this year? The BISHOP AND MOSES DID !!

  21. Linda, do justice to these names listed below.
    Peoples comment/ nominees on these blog is becoming nuisance. I believe all the people deserve something, it's a research from me to you. And I will keep posting these everyday until you do something about it, the fact that you pick 3 people & leave others is unfair, some names on my list might not be consistent & some might be new commenter (joined middle of these year) but they are all addicted to your blog. These are the names left behind;
    1. Alloy Chikezie
    2. Bonita
    3. Willieminna Moses
    4. Cute G
    5. Bishop DAMMY
    6. Shina shine
    7. Kween
    8. Christie Benjamin
    9. Queen maya
Some of them are old & consistent, some are old but not consistent while others are new & consistent. They deserve something better like onyx Godwin, Bonario & Ed Dreamz
    I rest my case......

  32. Watched the trailer, didn't like what I saw! Forget the hype, when you watch movies like Troy, movies like these won't just do it for you. Don't get me wrong, I support indigenous efforts, but if you can't do something in the movies don't even try cos you might ruin it! We have reached an age of advanced CGI, yet our graphics are still crap!

  63. I must say, i saw this movie yesterday and up till now i can't seem to get it off my mind..really it is so sad what happened to the Binis. Lancelot has one person that i know improves on his work he goes from what is good-better-best-bestest-bestestest(permit me to use it like that)....Good movie i will recommend every Nigerian to watch this movie especially people from that region to appreciate their culture. I heard there is a book of it so you can as well get it and read, i can't remember the name of the book.
    God bless...
