Coup attempt foiled in The Gambia

There was a failed coup attempt by presidential guards in The Gambia today Dec. 30th. According to reports, some presidential guards stormed the presidential palace in Banjul, the country's capital and shot sporadically in the air. The whereabouts of Gambia's president, Yahya Jammeh is said to be unknown but many believe he is in Paris or Dubai. An army source who spoke to AFP said the attackers had been completely warded off and the situation has been brought under control.

    2. Yahua jameh cane by the barrel of the gun in 94 I think. He is regarded globally as the most repressive of all African leaders. Worse that albashir of Sudan. That is on leader that will be there till he is either taken out in this fashion or he dies there. That is what it is. Africa needs a change from, such represhion all over

  32. This looks like a failed plan by the west. They never like to see an African nation doing well, it's threat to them. Gambia is lovely country with strong currency and economy also a popular vacation destination amongst Caucasians. The west will continue to fail in any plan against Africa amen..this includes their failed Ebola plans.

  37. @Uche Emma, December 30, 2014 at 5:06 PM- you haven't got the faintest clue what you are blabbering on about- President Jammeh needs to be pushed out- he has been in power illegally for the past two decades, has refused to step down and together with his Moroccan born wife and his sycophants, has bankrupted the country. Gambia is one of the poorest nations on earth when it ought to be Africa's wealthiest nations- all the handiwork of this weird, power hungry ex army officer masquerading around as president. Please read up on the history of Gambia before you blame the west- Gambians are disaffected by their president- I wish Nigerians would wake up and vote Jonathan out of office. Time for change has come- if Nigeria were a normal nation, Jonathan would have been booted out of office long ago.
