T.B Joshua asks court to stop coroner inquest investigating his church building collapse

The founder of the Synagogue Church of All Nations, Prophet T.B. Joshua yesterday asked the Lagos state High Court in Ikeja to stop proceedings of the coroner inquest set up by the Lagos state govt to look into the circumstances that led to his church's building collapse on Sept. 12th which killed 116.

T.B Joshua, who filed the appeal through his counsel, Olalekan, Ojo, also asked the court to declare that his invitation to appear as a witness before the coroner was a breach of his right to fair hearing, as no case had been established against him before the coroner.
T.B Joshua who was supposed to appear before the coroner yesterday, through his counsel, asked the coroner to suspend proceedings pending the outcome of the case he just filed against it which is to be called up for hearing on December 3rd

The coroner, Magistrate O.A. Komolafe however declined his request saying no one had served him court document to that effect.

  16. Pastor, what do you have to hide? The disciples of Jesus did not hide the fact that Jesus wept; it is written in the bible . Make your way open so that people can see that you are human and not an angel..Even angels do make mistakes.. Haba!

  20. Shouldn't he be eager to clear his name seeing as he claims a bomb or a "spiritual something" was the cause of the collapse? Why then are they stalling? Doesn't he want the evil ppl who tampered with the building killing almost 200ppl brought to book? This action alone says a whole lot. I know his fellow men of God and children of God will have plenty to say in his defence but if he his innocent and has nothing to hide, his actions say otherwise.

  23. Imagine o! Man of God what is he afraid of? Why is he disobeying the laws? Go a
and asneering questions you are talking lack of right to fair hearing when you have not even been questioned? Is he bigger than the laws. You built a multi floor house without gover mentioned regulatory approval, the building collapsed and killed over a 100 people, now questions proceedings are ongoing to unravel the cause of the collapse and you running. God help us all in this country.

  24. For justice to be properly served without bias... all sides must be heard.
I do not know why T.B. Joshua is refusing to appear before the court, thereby delaying court proceedings...He should lead by example by doing what is right, except if his hands are not clean.

  28. Dude, you are a compellable witness regardless of who you are!!! I don't see how been called as a witness having anything to do with fair hearing. You are not even accused or anything like that!!

  30. The families of the 80 odd plus people who perished deserves justice. Tuberculosis Joshua, you still live on earth and you and your businesses are still beholden to the laws of the land. How dare you attempt to pervert the course of justice. Nobody is above the law! Go sit your ass down somewhere and let justice prevail.

  31. A man of God should respect the law and obey authorities. That's what the bible teaches us. Maybe this teaching is not in TBJ bible! Ijs

  32. Even look at his lawyer, Olalekan Ojo, same guy that defended Hamza Al Mustapha, Abacha's CSO and frustrated the trial with all sorts of delay strategies, accusing judges of bribe, bias and all sorts. He is also defending Fred Ajudua the 419 kingpin Who hires a lawyer like him

  33. The way TB Joshua is going about the whole thing day by day is beginning to look as if he has a hand in all these. If it were to be in a civilised society everything will be properly investigated. He should leave them alone and appear before the panel and go and clear his name.
