Pics from First Child & Prisoner Care Foundation Award Ceremony

First Child & Prisoner Care Foundation was created with the aim and vision of creating & sustaining a means of advancing the living and economy standards of the less privilege amongst us. In view of this objective, the Prisoners, handicaps, orphans, widows and vulnerable children have always been in our priority list. However, there is a growing challenge in this regards, and there has also been so many rising cases involving these special persons.

Considering the need to advance our pursuit, FIRST CHILD & PRISONERS CARE FOUNDATION was established to create an alternative and a reputable structure to support these special classes of people through partnership and collaboration with existing platforms. We have organized workshops, skills acquisition programs, provision of machineries, confectionaries and food items to widows, Prisoners and the less privileged in many communities within Edo State.

It has been our mandate to achieve much more, hence we know that the needs are endless; we are faced with many challenges which we have encountered while rendering this services due to the increased and overwhelming growth of this class of persons in our midst.
Over the last couple of years FIRST CHILD & PRISONERS CARE FOUNDATION have supported beneficiaries to attain sustainable means of livelihood and some of them have also become volunteers encouraging other persons towards self resourcefulness.

In view of this successes, we have set up a training workshop team, which visits different communities, training these special persons in the production of domestic items like candles, soaps, lavender, beads, hats, fashion designing. Consequently, most of our seminars and workshops have endeared us to many women societies in Edo State; which have also made it possible for their families to achieve a considerable means of catering for themselves
An estimated 1000 beneficiaries have been supported by FIRST CHILD & PRISONERS CARE FOUNDATION in the last 3years, with different forms of support, which has made our foundation one of the most supportive in this regards

Our campaigns, programs and projects encompass mainstreaming in the hardware and software components that are necessary to achieving healthy and economically empowered citizens. The hardware components include services that promote and increase the capacity and realisation of potentials of youth and less privileged. The software components are activities that promote conditions and practices that help to prevent depression and exclusion.
Our program design seeks partnership and collaboration with related organization and charity minded individual and corporate bodies.

2. CONTEXT ANALYSIS
Considering the estimated 245 million widows and 500 million children in the world, the UN has endorsed the International Widows Day celebrated on 23rd June annually; this has made it more demanding on humanity to create sources and resources to empower them.
Widowed women experience different challenges including rape, prostitution, forced marriage, property theft, eviction, social isolation and physical abuse 1.6 million widow's children in the world die before their 5/6th Birthdays.

Children of widows continue to face unfavorable circumstances, child marriages, illiteracy, loss of schooling, forced labour, homelessness and sexual abuse, HIV/AIDs, armed conflict and poverty amongst other neglect suffered by widowhood. FIRST CHILD & PRISONERS CARE FOUNDATION is positioned, committed and excited to bridge this gap and bring succor to those in need and give them hope and support.
African retains the highest value of widowed women in the world and our cultural beliefs have continued to place this harsh conditional on woman, depriving them of all their marital entitlements after the demise of their husbands.
More so, the security challenge in the northern part of Nigeria has increased the number of widows based on global analysis. We have observed that most of the widows in urban areas suffer more victimization and hardship than those in rural area, where there are no means of farming and community support available to them.
However the challenges among urban widows has endeared us to advance our cause to reach out and seek a broader synergy with Government, institutions and private individuals, creating the flag off of this programme THE NORTH CENTRAL WIDOWS EMPOWERNMENT PROGRAMME 2014 to be held in Abuja on 7TH November initiated by Efe Martins Osarenwindamwen and subsequently in all the other States of the federation.
We call on all sundry to sponsor a widow and help change her life for the better; educate a widow's child – making any form of donation and creating assisting to make a widow's child go to school.
3. HOW WE WORK
Our human resources development team comprises of social workers, sociology and psychological professionals who create the right standard to improve the mind set of this challenged person to accept their situation beyond the limits of their true standards. These have also made them to become project volunteers and coordinators sourcing for the right people within their locality to enjoy such supports.
The organizational values of FIRST CHILD & PRISONERS CARE FOUNDATION is orientating this class of people and creating credible empowerment for them afterwards. We have over the years been an independent organization without governmental assistance but rendering these supports through the selfless contributions of Efemart Integrated Concept Ltd.
We have designed a creative/skill acquisition programme to train children of these widows, through information technology, entrepreneurial training aids and creating educational support for many families.
