Defence HQ discredits all stories of liberation of towns by some hunters

The Nigeria military just released a statement discrediting all those stories you've read about hunters and local vigilantes helping to liberate towns captured by Boko Haram in the North East. They are basically saying they are the ones who did it...with some help of course. I believe them. Find their statement after the cut...

Misrepresenting the involvement of hunters in the counter-terrorism operations
All the flimsy and exaggerated claims of hunters’ exploits in the ongoing operations are simply intended to foster a mischievous campaign aimed at disparaging and depreciating the professional efforts of the Nigerian military at containing the terrorists especially in Adamawa.

It is obvious that the intention is to ridicule and discourage the military. We are not moved. While appreciating the effort of the hunters and citizens who have been supporting our troops in the onslaught, the military still remains in the vanguard of the mission to rid the nation of terrorists and their activities.

We will remain focused and utilize only well-meaning support and advice in the ongoing campaign to wipe out terrorists. Much as we are aware of the politicians who are promoting the campaign for whatever reasons, we will not be distracted by their antics.

The result of present efforts will soon manifest for the whole world to see and Nigerians and their military will not be diminished, as intended by those engaging in the campaign of calumny against the Nigerian military We however caution Nigerians not to allow themselves to be hoodwinked into danger by some false reports on so called liberation of certain areas by ‘hunters’ as we can only vouch for areas where the military has reported cleared of terrorists.

  10. I dont believe anything from the military anymore. Mubi was sold out to bokoharam. Arms were being harbored inside mubi. It was just a few of these gunmen that invaded the town during the time of this attack. Others were normal everyday people, familiar neighbors, already in town waiting for this few. Now when this few entered and started shooting Those that were in town now responded to their brothers. Now mubi is under state of emergency meaning it is under a 24 hours military watch. How come then that the residents has been haboring arms, smuggling it into the town under the nose of the military. The report that the military exchanged fire with this guys before fleeing after finding out that they have a heavy fire power and were greatly outnumbered were all false. The military left mubi 30 minutes before the assignment began relocating to hong and leaving the life of our women and Children unprotected. reports that local hunters invaded mubi to set it free from the bokoharam came to me from a friend a day before it was in the media and all this while the military was getting ready to retake the town as bokoharam members were busy turning mubi upside down. It was only when the hunters has chased this guys out of mubi that the military moved into play. Remember they was announcing their plans of retaking mubi. in other words telling the enemy " We are coming". they should do us the favor of sparing us their various statements. Ihejirika was right on top of this bokoharam issue before those who did not want this menace to stop made sure he was removed from the office all in the name that he was committing genocide against the arewas. Now the whole thing has taken to another turn to the extent that bokoharam has elevated to the level of capturing a town as populated as mubi. its no more the usual hit and run tactics. Well its very unfortunate. Please lets credit be given to whom its due.

  17. Because its only a fool that will believe in the political speech of our military. Moreover they dont want this to stop so that they dont go out of job. Think about the amount of money being put into military contracts since the genesis of this bokoharam madness.

  18. obviously. how can hunters 'chase'out Boko Boko. undue credit....

  19. First of all these local vigilante groups are putting up a good fight. Secondly should the military be concerned about who gets credit for what? Or should they be more concerned about eradicating this menace. Instead of encouraging these people they are claiming credit on social media. PATHETIC.

  20. All Nigerians care about is restoration of peace to those affected areas. If you had been up and doing since this wouldn't have happened not talk of you defend it.
