Entry level Customer Service representatives in Nigeria earn between N60,000 to N200,000 monthly depending on their specific roles, salary negotiation skills and the company’s salary structure.
To become a Customer Service Executive, you do not need to have any special degree. However, there are numerous professional certification programs in customer service that can aid your career immensely.
In addition to your formal qualifications, here are 3 essential qualities you would need to land a good customer service job in Nigeria.

1. Excellent Communication Skills: To land a good customer service job, you must be a very good communicator. The role would always involve interacting with people so you should be good at winning people over when you talk.
Communicating well with a customer means you fully understand what he is trying to pass across and you respond in a way that makes more sense to the customer.
Developing an effective communication skill is never easy but can be achieved by regular practice.
2. Patience: Every customer service officer needs to be patient always. Because you get to talk to different people everyday, you may have to deal with difficult (and even annoying customers). You therefore need to build some level of self-control and patience. What makes you a good customer service officer is how well you treat even the most frustrating callers.
3. Staying Positive: Every customer would want to talk to someone that would always be positive. They want to talk to someone that understands them and cares about them. Because of the nature of their jobs, customer service operators tend to be negative in their comments and this is a wrong call. It can be very challenging to stay positive but it is always the best.
