Borno state Governor grants 22 prisoners amnesty to mark independence

Borno state Governor, Kashim Shettima, today October 1st granted 22 prison inmates amnesty during an unscheduled visit to the Maiduguri Maximum Security Prison in celebration of Nigeria's independence.

Governor Shettima said the amnesty granted to the prisoners followed the recommendation of the State Advisory Committee on the Prerogative of Mercy.

Addressing the prisoners, he said "You are in prison today because it has been destined by the Almighty God. It does not mean the end of your lives. Even some holy prophets were in one time or the other imprisoned but they came out the better" he said
Before leaving, he donated a 27 KVA power generating set to the prison and also announced approval for the release of N5million to the prison authorities to enable them carry out general renovation of decaying facilities.

  26. What these governors should be doing is reliquinshing their positions to more fit people or reliquinsh all the monies they looted and let go of the plan to loot more to mark independence.

  27. Nigerian politicians sef.. hear him:

Addressing the prisoners, he said "You are in prison today because it has been destined by the Almighty God. It does not mean the end of your lives"
Yes, God knew they would be in prison before they were, but NO, God did not destine them to be criminals! Pls, can we stop blaming God for every wrong choice or every failure? God this, God that... take responsibility for your decisions and choices Nigerians please!
You are in prison because you did something wrong that the law does not permit, eg stealing, bombing, killing etc.. You are being punished cos the constitution upholds it, not because GOD destined you to be such.

That is, if they are not boko haram members oh, those ones shouldnt be freed.

These dumb governors and president just act like they own the country!!! If a person has gone to court and sentenced to jail, it should be the courts who releases them not some Fat phucking "governor" who probably doesn't know the constitution..

  33. Most of your comments shows you guys are naturally negative in life, illiterates and lack exposure. What is wrong in the Gov releasing inmates who were wrongly jailed or innocent?. You are not any different from patience the first lady. Try to reduce your hate and leave healthy.
