Despite some military sources claiming the man beheaded in the Boko Haram video is unknown to them, friends of Wing Commander Chimda Hedima have paid him tribute. They also told the story of how the brave young man killed as many Boko Haram men as he could, knowing he would be captured. See the tribute below...
On
11/09/14, a company of NA soldiers attempted to overrun a Boko Haram
position in Borno. Due to the low altitude, the plane suffered
significant damage from the terrorists' gun fire. Wing Commander Hedima & his partner realized that they were going to crash.
Instead of hurriedly parachuting to safety within Nigerian controlled
territory, they chose to embark on a mission to destroy as many
terrorists and their weapons as possible. They parachuted out at the
last minute but not before ensuring their plane slammed into a column of
terrorists in which 63 Boko Haram members were killed as a result of
their bravery. Wing Commander Hedima was captured.
On 12/09/14, he was killed by the Boko Haram.
He chose Nigeria, he chose all of us. We cannot forget him. Please share his story. His name should be known by everyone.
Rest In Peace Commander, we are grateful.
May you find eternal peace in the bosom of the almighty God.
Now this brave soldier deserves a posthumous award.
Eyhya RIP... it is well

ReplyDeleteNow that his name is out. I might as well leave my tribute.
ReplyDeleteChimda Hedima was my junior in Military School (Jos). He went on to NDA and was commissioned to the Air Force. He was recently promoted as a Wing Commander (Lt. Col) and attended the Command and Staff College in Bangladesh. A lifetime Soldier (from a Junior Airman in Military School to a senior officer in the Military) who comes from a generation of soldiers, as his Dad also retired as a senior officer. The BH crisis was probably personal for him as their Christian homeland of Hong in Adamawa is under BH threat.
People had been praying and fasting for him since he got missing, but BH killed him on October 1, his birthday.
Rest in the Lord's bossom Chimda Stephen Hedima.
From 1st Corinthians 15:
54 When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.”[h]
55 “Where, O death, is your victory?
Where, O death, is your sting?”[i]
Your friend and colleague in the military did a very brave thing for us and he deserves our highest salute as with is wingman and all others who have sacrificed and continue sacrificing- they deserve so much more from this forsaken leadership and I hope we the protected will have the good sense to define our future and honour their memory by demanding the governance we deserve

ReplyDeleteI knew d military would deny knowing him following claims dat d jet wasnt shot down by d haramites
Rest on our true heroes
While I appreciate the need to immortalise the gallantry of soldiers who died fighting for the motherland, this particular tale is just plain old bullshit. Like, who witnessed how the 2 pilots got captured to give us such a first-hand, blow by blow account of their ill-fated mission? They even told us how many terrorists the crashing plane took out. Who is frigging kidding who here??
ReplyDeleteAnyways, rest in peace, soldier.
But if you had heard this news on cnn exactly the way it's written here, it would be authentic, right?
DeleteRip
ReplyDeleteStuff of movies! It is about time someone made a movie about our military struggle and triumph against BH. I got a movie idea if anyone is interested in making it into a movie.

ReplyDeleteMay ur soul rest in peace. Its a big shame that the military hurriedly deny knowing him instead of first of all investigating to know who he is as any normal pple (not nigeria leaders) would do. It hurts me to my soul the caliber of leaders we have in nigeria. Anything thats supposed to go to the young man's family, they want to pocket, hence the denial

Linda, soldiers always follow rules + instructions while in an engagement like that.
ReplyDeleteI him and his partner according to what I read here, choose to run rampant while they where suppose to retreat, he is accountable to his actions. It is not bravery but stupidity.
In the army, there're times u retreat...dose not mean u lost but just to rearrange to fight another day.

ReplyDeleteIf this is true, then...
ReplyDeleteNow, this is what bravery is all about. To all of us, who deserves an award in Nigeria other than this man, putting his life on the line to ensure that the "Labour of our heroes past shall never be in vain".
No one is gonna comment on this one, but I bet if it were something like: "Check out Davido's New Bathroom Slippers". We'd have had 200 comments by now. Loss of sane values. Now this is one hero we should all remember forever.
ReplyDeleteGOD IS STILL GOD, MAY HIS SOUL REST IN PEACE.
ReplyDeleteOh! What a country we are living in. Government should rise up to their responsibilities and ensure they take proper and the best care of his family. Cos a 39years old man must have left a wife and children. RIP bro....
ReplyDeleteRest in peace wing commander Chimda Hedima.
ReplyDeleteAnd our millitary command is denying him?. Such a shame
ReplyDeleteIt's so sad that the authorities would rather hand awards to criminals, persons facing corruption charges and those without scruples than to those who have made huge sacrifices for the cause of peace, unity and sanctity of the Nation. May God grant his soul eternal rest. AMEN!!!

ReplyDeleteBy clear Contrast, these are the Worthy Gentlemen that should rule Nigeria, Young, Courageous, Selfless with great love for service and country, ready to pay the ultimate price and he proved it. What we have now are the exact opposite who seat in the comfort of Luxuries and the protection provided by the gallant ones, they steal, loot plunder and are clueless as regards adding value to the ones they Rule, Robbers in high places, enriching themselves daily at the expense of true Patriots such as Commander Chimda Hedima and many like him. To these Charlatans, who even have the effrontery to openly deny such men of great deeds of patriotism, I say to you all, your day of reckoning will come, in time, It will come !
ReplyDeleteIslamic extremism is a PLAGUE affecting more and more countries every day. All the insanity in the world is coming from followers of Islam.Where Islam goes, destruction follows. The civilized world must do everything to checkmate these monsters before they set the world ablaze. RIP officer Chimda
