Soldier detained for molesting, shaving pastor’s hair in Delta state

A soldier with 3 Battalion Effurun in Delta state, was yesterday September 22nd arrested by his command after he physically assaulted and shaved the hair of one Reverend Felix Omas, the General overseer and founder of Tower of Faith Ministries at Aleghor road checkpoint in Effurun, Delta state. Narrating his ordeal in the hands of the soldier, the elderly clergyman said;
“I was driving in my SUV, but due to the traffic situation, I boarded a tricycle. The soldiers stopped our tricycle as we were coming from Alegbor, forcibly seated me on the ground as one of them pulled a scissors and stroke three ugly cuts on my hair, saying my hair style violates their rules.”
He said he could not protest the action of the soldier because he was carrying a gun. The soldier's command got wind of the his unruly action and arrested him. According to a military source in the battalion, the soldier will be charged for improper action.

  17. what nonsense! This is very annoying. Why should a soldier be molesting innocent citizens? Is it because he has a gun? I hope this matter will not be swept under carpet. The Command should use the goat as an example to other erring ones.

  33. The Army shouldn't bother to charge him for anything; they should just send him to Boko Haram war front. It is the cowards among them that are very unruly.

  47. That is the Nigerian military for you, that is why i HATE them with passion. They bully civilians instead of protecting them.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Linda, you got it correct here. It's 3 Battalion not 3rd Battalion as some other people say.Military formations and units in Nigeria are designated with cardinals and not ordinals in the same way it is done in the UK. Americans on the other hand use ordinals

  49. FIRST TO COMMENT***(GURU) The soldier must be mentally deranged.How can a reasonable soldier assault a man of God.If the Rev curse the soldier, he will remain useless for life..

  51. RITUAL TINZ!!! Please Linda follow this story very well. If anything happens to this elderly man later the army officer should be held responsible. As for all the other hair shaving, I suspect one big man in Delta state needs heads for ritual. My people, shine una eyes this is not ordinary. If they have a problem with people's hair style they should ask them to change it not this on the spot three shavings.

  52. The soilder should pray wella so that God's wrath won't befall him and his family for generations. Shaving a pastor's hair is symbolic. Remember samson in the Holy BIBLE whose head was shaved?

  56. Terrible how soldiers harass and bully innocent civilians. My colleague lost her dad last Friday after a soldier who had hit his car from behind beat him up. Its so sad how they bully people because they have guns in their possession.
