Shocking video: See what happens to some Nigerians who try to cross to Europe via Sahara desert

This very graphic video shows how Nigerians (mostly Igbos) trying to cross to Europe through the Sahara Desert die in the desert from lack of water, food and heat. These men, sometimes in a group of 50, attempt to trek from a city in Niger or Morocco via the desert to European countries like Spain and Italy, but some of them don't make it out of the desert alive. See the video after the cut. *Warning - graphic content)

    1. Toronto, so all those people who have done well for themselves in Nigeria have 8 heads? Please use your brain. Zenki is right! You don't have to travel out to make it in life. If you have the means, fine. If you don't, buckle up and work hard. Simple!

    2. Exactly! Abeg i have met a thousand people who made it here in Nigeria. Travelling abroad and thinking it's better there is just poverty mentality. Simple!!! This is nonsense.

  10. Why can't we remain in our country and struggle,it is only impatients that can result to this tragic death.who says going to Europe will earn you a better living? Its only those who have not lived abroad that wouldn't understand that it is not easy anywhere. If you work hard and keep your hands clean God will surely reward you and grant your hearts desire

Even after they escape the scorching sun, next major hurdle will be Mediterranean Sea, where most will perish. After these sufferings you arrive Europe as illegal immigrant, live a life hide and seek, do dirty jobs which they will probably pay you below minimum wage, or good news 2 some is you get into drugs and always looking out 4 cops or you marry one low life girl/granny 2 secure ur papers.
Now real question: How successful is your predecessor/ how many of them is successful.
Well the bad news is success rate as an illigal immigrant into ligit business close to zero. Oh I forget hw can you be illigal and be ligit.
Bottom Line: is not worth it, I have lived it, seen it!!

Some parents though! Why would some parents use words to coarse their children into becoming desperate in order to be rich like their neighbour's child, friend's child, colleague's child, pastor's child etc. OR why must you think that your hatching period or means of livelihood must be the same with your friend, associate etc. NO need to compare yourself with others, do you, act you, live you and watch you grow.

  137. I hear alot of you say what you like about these folks. But the truth be told the government and leaders of this nation are wicked, I repeat very wicked. Most of these guys are very hard working people without opportunity. What do you expect them to do? If we like we can be deceiving our selves, the truth is with all your money you are still suffering and poor in Nigeria. Buy the most expensive car yet no road to drive them. Build a beautiful house yet live under both noise and air polution because there is no power. You cant even sleep peacefully or enjoy your money in peace. Every one living in fear including pastors and native doctors. Every body is looking for the slightest opportunity to dupe his neighbour of his or her money. The police is even more of a problem than solution no disaster and emergency management. For God sake what is working in Nigeria. Even those doing the odd jobs in many of the european countries earn much more than many of the professionals in Nigeria. No health insurance abd medical care Why wont people run and become desperate. Even though going to this extent of risk is uncalled for. Why cant Nigerians wake up and stand up against the government and leaders for once why cant we hold these guys responsible and accountable. What is really our problem?

why can them stay here and made the money as some of us did. Look at LINDA IKEJI, she is a perfect example of success, which shows that you dont need to leave the country before you can make it.

  142. These images exist since some 5 years now. Last year, a female yoruba blogger republish them but this time said those victims were Igbos. Now this Igbo speaking pastor or simply naive idiot republish it in Youtube emphasing that they are Igbos. But NOTHING whatsoever proves that these AFRICANS are Igbos or even Nigerians. Not one single evidence. Unless, of course, all Black Africans are Igbos.

  143. Looking at their surroundings you can see lots of heavy stones. How sure are we that these guys were not killed/stoned to death by desert robbers? May their souls RIP.

  145. Linda Ikeja, "publish" my earlier remarks na; why eat it? Or was it too scathing? Did it hurt much? Never mind, it was just the truth, and I love to say it. Maybe next time, you"ll at least be more respectful of your roots. AGAIN THESE FOLKS ARE NOT IGBOS!!! Thanks.

  146. I have watched several documentaries in Europe about these africans; some are in the desert but most are already in morroco, lybia (during Kadaffi, Tunisia etc...MOST THEM SPOKE FRENCH and were mainly from Cameroon, Togo, Ivory Coast, Mali, Guinea Conakry, Burkina faso etc... very few were from Nigeria and some from Ghana and among those from Nigeria judging from their accents most southern tribes were there but the Edos were the majority not the Igbos.

  154. It's appalling how some Igbo denigrate their tribe for no reason. Is it naivety or stupidity or the effect of living almost all of one's life outside one's fatherland?

The man speaking on this video is NOT the camera man as somebody here wrongly said.

Other videos exist on the net. And in 100% of them beside this one, NO tribe is ever mentioned.
The nation or nation of the victims but it has to tale a naive idiot speaking igbo to self-appropriate these recurrent dramas for his tribe only. These dramas have been happening in the sahara deserts for ages and ALL western african and some central african nation are involved. Never before has "tribes" been mentioned but now.

One would think that only the Igbos exist in West and Central Africa.

Please look at these videos and listen to objective non self centered reporters:

  155. I hope you (Linda Ikeji) read this comment and take it seriously. You need to be careful how you write certain things. You genuinely did not need, to state in the manner in which you did that, most of them were igbo. It comes about controversial to make statement like these knowing the current cultural friction in Nigeria. Please try to avoid such misinterpretations.
