Michael Brown, the unarmed 18 year old black boy who was killed by a police
officer in St. Louis on Saturday August 9th, sparking protests around the nation, was shot at least six
times, including twice in the head, a preliminary private autopsy
performed on Sunday found.
One
of the bullets entered the top of Brown’s skull, suggesting his
head was bent forward when it struck him and caused a fatal injury,
according to Dr. Michael M. Baden, the former chief medical examiner for
the City of New York, who flew to Missouri on Sunday at the family’s
request to conduct the separate autopsy. It was likely the last of
bullets to hit him, he said. Continue...
Brown was also shot four times in the right arm, he said, adding that all the bullets were fired into his front. Contradicting earlier reports by eyewitnesses that he was shot in the back as he ran from the officer
The
bullets did not appear to have been shot from very close range because
no gunpowder was present on his body. However, that determination could
change if it turns out that there is gunshot residue on Mr. Brown’s
clothing, to which Dr. Baden did not have access.
Dr.
Baden said that while Mr. Brown was shot at least six times, only three
bullets were recovered from his body. But he has not yet seen the
X-rays showing where the bullets were found, which would clarify the
autopsy results. Nor has he had access to witness and police statements.
Dr.
Baden provided a diagram of the entry wounds, and noted that the six
shots produced numerous wounds. Some of the bullets entered and exited
several times, including one that left at least five different wounds.
“This
one here looks like his head was bent downward,” he said, indicating
the wound at the very top of Mr. Brown’s head. “It can be because he’s
giving up, or because he’s charging forward at the officer.”
He stressed that his information does not assign blame or justify the shooting.
“We
need more information; for example, the police should be examining the
automobile to see if there is gunshot residue in the police car,” he
said.
Dr.
Baden, 80, is a well-known New York-based medical examiner, who is one
of only about 400 board-certified forensic pathologists in the nation.
He reviewed the autopsies of both President John F. Kennedy and the Rev.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and has performed more than 20,000
autopsies himself. - Huffington Post
Shooting an unarmed citizen six times is too excessive. Just too much...

ReplyDeleteAnd they want us to believe that its not a case of racial profiling

Also did u not see where he said the boy might hv been charging or might have been surrendering? Also, did u people not see the CCTV footage in the store? If the boy was resisting arrest or charging at the officer (considering his size), what should the officer have done? Abg! The racism yarns are gtting hella old! Pls blk people stop.

ReplyDeleteRacism has really come to dominate. There is noting anyone will tell me for me to beleive his killing was not coz of his color. I mean the police that shot him only heard he robbed a store for just a cigar, coupled with that, he was not armed and raised his hands up and yet they shot him and labelled him a felon. How on earth does that conote? I pray justice is served but I don't see it coming. RIP MIcheal.
ReplyDeleteI pray justıce is done asap.. IT İŞ WELL!

That police officer needs to be sentenced to death by firing squad!!! Soo cruel of him! A boy that's just starting to live his life, he just cut it short like dat! Undespicable
ReplyDeletethe truth is that we think slavery has being abolished but we are suffering from subtle forms of slavery and racism and that is racial profiling and there is no denying the fact that many black men are subjected to these types of treatment. over the years there has being many and I am glad this has finally caught the media's attention. maybe there will be respite for Diallo, Scott and the man choked to death and the many more who have died as a result of police brutality.
ReplyDeleteRacism is just too pronounced here
ReplyDeleteNawa o that's too much may his soul continue to Rip.
ReplyDeleteThis is barbaric
ReplyDeleteSmh, the cop executed him. When will it stop? Every few years the same incident reoccurs with a young black man.
ReplyDeleteBecause of his COLOUR police denied his right to live
ReplyDeleteFYI this guy AKA Big Brown was shot 5 minutes after he robbed a supermarket. lets keep racism out of it.if u watch the cctv footage and manner he portrayed in the robbery incidence, then u know this guy must be a thug. i won't be surprise he was trying to disarm the cop that shot him out of self defense.
