Read To Lead Africa Reality TV Show is back with season 3

Read to Lead Africa, the only cerebral teenage reality TV show in the whole of Africa is back with its third season! The first season was in 2012 and the second in 2013. The participant who are senior secondary school students live as housemates for 30 days. Continue...

The show opens a thrilling window into the lives of the housemates who are expected to live normally and properly in the house while their activities, moods and behaviours are captured continuously on camera, and packaged for television viewers to partake in their feelings and their daily real life dramas.

Housemates are visited and trained by seasoned resource persons in the fields of writing, literary arts, science and technology, sports, leadership, health, and entertainment. As the show progresses, housemates drawing from the trainings, their intelligence and their exposure to books and reading, escape eviction by engaging one another in eviction contest like public speaking, quiz competition, critical thinking contests, debate competitions, words arrangement, impromptu speech contests, declamation contest, mumble jumble, mastermind series, fastest and best, essay writing contests and many more. Housemates’ evenings and spare times are spent having fun –excursions to tourist sites, partying, swimming, chatting, sporting, moonlight games, and most especially READING. All these, the viewers enjoy on TV.
Eviction tasks continue till two finalists emerge. They contest in a debate on the grand finale in the presence of parents and dignitaries. The winner goes home with N2,000,000, scholarship star prize, first runner up goes with N500,000 scholarship prize and the second runner up, N250,000 scholarship prize while others are rewarded with fantastic consolation prizes. The wealth of knowledge and exposure gathered also sticks with the participants long after they’ve left the competition.

In its bid to take the reading crusade across Africa and into as many homes as possible, the organization created the Read to Lead Africa TV project. Television is one of the greatest means of entering the homes of people you may never meet.

The Read to Lead Reality TV show has three main goals which are:

·         To build a strong foundation for leadership in Africa
·         To build a dominantly literate African continent

BRIEF ABOUT RASDA
Reading Awareness Society for Development in Africa (RASDA) is a Non-Governmental and a non-profit making organization with an unquantifiable passion for the promotion of reading culture in Africa. Over the years, RASDA has taken great and effective steps to rigorously campaign against the neglect of books especially by the children and youth of Nigeria. The activities of RASDA has been centered on making all to see the importance of developing the culture of READING hence our slogan is …reading brings out the star in you.

RASDA has since inception began to engage in effective campaign programmes backed-up with passion and resolute commitment.

At several times, we organized workshops, seminars, and training sessions for students, teachers, parents and other stakeholders in the education sector. We have also donated reading posters and billboards to primary, secondary and tertiary institutions in Oyo State. A 40ft by 20ft billboard was donated to the Kwara State Ministry of Education.
