Photos: U.S donates high tech bomb disposal robots/equipment to Nigerian police

Below is a press release from the Nigerian Police...
The Inspector-General of Police, Ag. IGP Suleiman Abba NPM, mni, today, August 20, 2014 at Force Headquarters, Abuja, received the US Ambassador to Nigeria, His Excellency, James F. Entwistle.
The US Ambassador congratulated the Ag. IGP on his new appointment as the Police Boss and thanked the Nigeria Police Force for its high level of co-operation and huge partnership with the US Embassy in Nigeria.

The Ambassador thereafter presented High tech Bomb disposal robots/equipment to the Nigeria Police Force. He also reassured the Ag. IGP that his country will continue to render relevant supports to the Force in the areas of training and security cooperation.
The IGP, while responding, appreciated the Ambassador’s courtesy visit and thanked the US government for assisting the Nigeria Police Force in areas of investigation, management of scene of crime as well as position of equipment.

Describing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) executed by the Nigeria Police Force and the US government recently as a huge partnership that will improve and modernize Police training in Nigeria, the IGP restated his commitment to continue to drive reforms and transformation of the Force in order to reposition the Force for better service delivery and promised that the newly donated equipment would be put to effective use.

  19. This not the one U.S uses in United state to defuse bomb. i guess Nigeria have not reached to the stage where the can make there own bomb disposal. U.S just gave there already used and outed dated bomb disposal equipment and Nigeria does not have a clue.

  20. Truly, I love America and Nigeria my country as well. Problem with Nigeria apart from corruption is lack of maintenance culture. Give those equipment two years and they are dead.

  21. The bomb disposal should be used in Borno and Adamawa.

  34. This what?? thanks buh couldn't we have just ordered this from Japan, Russia or Germany. It doesn't cost much funny enough, our government instead of focusing on such things are busy screening movies. They prefer to be given things for free by the west they never want to spend money on anything instead busy looting the country. This the reason we would remain a slave to the west. Some times these are the reason I wish I wasn't from that country.

  35. Why not buy?? why do we have to go begging? pls better return that thing and go purchase ours.

  46. 90% of the comments here outline what's wrong with Nigeria, and Africa in general. This our poverty mentality.

Always waiting for handouts, donations and freebies.

I thank good that there were some comments here saying the equipment should be given back and we should either produce or buy our own.

Where is your pride as a nation, as a country. Would the Germans, Japanese or Chinese willing and callously, beg for and accept donations like Nigeria and Nigerians do a regular basis.

So sad that I am from that Useless experiment codenamed Niger Area.

  52. This just shows that the end of the world is near. Nobody has a clue whats in those robots that will even be used to monitor us. This just seems like what we see in those sci-fi movies.

They are not trying to help; they are trying to control.

Those people waiting for z-mapp should only expect it when ebola has becum too widespread n z-mapp cant even help anymore. Y'all will say i said so. OBAMA is definitely the anti-christ or the one ushering him in
